What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Not everyone’s favourite but I miss Heinz Toast Toppers used to love the chicken and mushroom one for lunch.

lonelywater · 15/11/2024 02:16

nitromors paint stripper. used to be bloody vicious-woe betide you if you got any on your hands-stung to blazers. about 5 years ago they fucked with the formula and I reckon you could probably drink it now.

Ladyswhatlunch · 15/11/2024 02:27

Everything is weak, pathetic and tasteless these days.

Ladyswhatlunch · 15/11/2024 02:27

Fly spray that actually killed flies.

pineapplefizz · 15/11/2024 02:28

When 'hot crumbly' was discontinued!

Tarkan · 15/11/2024 02:31

All the yogurts and drinks (and sometimes other stuff like ice cream) which decided adding artificial sweeteners was a better idea than just raising the price a bit with the sugar tax. I can't have any of them now and my choice of drinks has diminished hugely, especially on a night out if I don't want wine or beer. Places that use Pepsi rather than Coke make it even worse. If I go into Taco Bell when I'm through in the city then literally the only drink that I can have there is water.

The new way of packaging mince is vile. Mince and chicken have deteriorated so much.

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

I find this hilarious, the council changing the colour of the nighttime. I wonder if it's pissed off the foxes too.

Yes! Lidl mince is now awful!

Yes the compacted mince is horrendous. My local butcher is doing an offer on their steak mince this weekend so I'm planning on stocking up and freezing it. It tastes way better anyway and I swear you don't need as much to be filled up on it.

You need to try Longley Farm yoghurts.

There used to be a biscuit called Cafe Noir. A bit like a party ring but coffee flavoured icing.

I think of them often.

stayathomer · 15/11/2024 03:24

Gucci perfume being discontinued!! (The original one!) . It was literally my winter made- one spray and I practically sucked in the scent and felt a million dollars (I do not look a million dollars ever lol).

I don't know if it's just me, but have you noticed that moths (and other flying critters) no longer flutter around the (orange) bulbs like they used to many years ago?
Might've been before your time... I'm in my 70's.

I'm completely devastated that Heinz discontinued their treacle in the tin😔 nothing comes close to how that tasted😭

Try Blackstrap Molasses... I bought the Meridian brand...

I rather prefer the white, but like you I'm surprised no-one else seemed to have noticed that we no longer live in an orange glow.

HollyKnight · 15/11/2024 04:55

They've stopped salting the french fries at my local McDonalds. I'm not sure if that's a regional change or a nationwide one.

The at-home eyelash tinting kits have changed their formula for safety reasons. It doesn't work anymore. I'm guessing eejits kept blinding themselves.

And YES! to the person who mentioned street light bulbs being changed. There is one right outside my house. All night long there is a blinding white light on that makes it look like it is permanently daytime.

"Coco pops...gone to the dogs"
It all has. Sad
The new mince packets are vile. I refuse to buy them. Surely sales have dropped?

Oblomov24 · 15/11/2024 05:10

"Everything is weak, pathetic and tasteless these days."

Yes. Exactly.

Rina66 · 15/11/2024 05:15

Bang bang dip in M & S, where is it? Why get us hooked and then stop making it? This is not an ordinary rage....

LauderSyme · 15/11/2024 05:26

Some of my favourite presenters and newsreaders from Radio 4 don't do it any more... Their voices were so familiar and soothing.

CamelTail · 15/11/2024 05:28

Essentially most things Mondelez touched.
The MOST disappointing moment was when I took DH back to my country one summer, bought my fave old style 30 years on market ice lolly (like quarky inside and chocolate covered) and the chocolate was just so diagusting fatty shite I only lasted one bite, saw his face, gave my family a taste and we all agreed never to purchase it again.
End of an era. Ruined heritage. Embarrassment for the country😂

It was 2010 and Greggs took their strawberry tarts off the menu <weeps>

Happily driving along at a perfectly safe speed of 30mph and having to drop down to 20mph and feel a fool as grannies walking along the pavement are faster than you!

Shwmae! 👋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Compash · 15/11/2024 05:36

Drinks that used to have sugar in - you knew it was there and you took the risk. Now you really have to check that old favourites don't have mouth-drying, chemical-tasting sweeteners in there (or one of the sneaky misleading names for it).
