What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Cauldron sausages (vegetarian) the changed the recipe. Fortunately there was so many complaints, the changed it beck, then a few months later changed them again. Fortunately this time they're edible, but they're no where near as good as the originals. 😪😪😪

I think it is the quality of the pork in them.

Years ago (back in the 90’s) Ben and Jerry’s made a limited edition ice cream called Chubby Hubby. It was bloody lovely - malted flavour ice cream with chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate chunks and all sorts of goodness. I’ve never forgotten it and am still very sad they’ve never revived it (despite all the emails I’ve written…)

Discontinued: Andrew’s Liver Salts which was a wonder drink for upset tummies.
Tomato flavour snaps.

Recipe change: watered down Euthymol toothpaste, used to be as thick as that at the dentist.

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

At least you have lights. Our council switch ours at 11pm until 6am now. Not fun walking home alone.

PG Tips getting rid of the pyramid bags. That's why I bought them! I always use a teapot and they were great for brewing.

Cadbury’s chocolate. I still eat it but…it’s just a bit sadder

Have a flake. They use the original recipe apparently as otherwise it doesn’t flake properly. I’ve heard the same goes for Twirls.

JoBrandsCleaner · 16/11/2024 19:14

most chocolate

Just recently, Fairy Liquid has changed. It's gone all thin and useless.

I agree, thought I was imagining it!

sofaprincess · 16/11/2024 19:22

You can still get Worcester sauce French fries!

They changed the recipe for hamwiches and now the cheesy layer isn’t on the top, the cheese is chopped up and mixed in. They used to be my guilty pleasure, but now they’re rank :(

Bunchymcbunchface · 16/11/2024 19:24

Urn bru bars being discontinued & Maryland cookies being changed. Terrible

Coco pops...gone to the dogs.

The Lidl ones are much nicer (what, I may be in my 40s, but I get the occasional coco pops craving) much chocolatier.

11pm is far too early. Should be 1am at least. What on earth is council tax for these days 😡

Vaseline Intensive Care Creme Antiperspirant Deodorant - the mushroom shaped one. I started using it over 30 years ago, maybe nearer 40!
I spotted a few years ago that it was no longer stocked in Boots but I could still find it in Sainsbury’s, if I was lucky. Checked with ‘Vaseline’ who told me they were still producing it then a few months later it totally disappeared. Luckily every time I went to Sainsbury’s I’d bought 6 at a time so I eventually had a few years worth. Then I realised that Dove did a very similar one - but then that disappeared. I’ve been managing to get them from Amazon and currently have 12 stashed away. I’m dreading not being able to get them. I find the creme deodorants are perfect for me.

No it’s because they have the lowest meat content for to be classified as a sausage. 42%.

I miss Trio biscuits
Why oh why did Crosse and Blackwell stop making the beautiful Pea and Mint soup. It was gorgeous. I don't eat meat so all ya pea and ham sh1t can piss off.
Definitely YES to clusters! I loooooooved them!

Try Yorkshire Provender Pea and Mint soup, it's my favourite one. I think it has spinach in it also? Anyway, it's delicious - and vegetarian.

Sainsbury’s closing their changing rooms permanently, they did this in my store about a month ago, I don’t want to have to buy 2 sizes of the same thing to see which is the better fit or have to buy a load of clothes that I just want to try on and see if they suit me and then have to drive back to get a refund, and before someone says it’s no different to buying online, yes it is, it’s a flipping clothes shop, if you want to sell clothes in a shop provide a bloody changing room!

There used to be a Nestle cereal in a light brown box, the cereal was a bit like thin bran flakes and it had small lumps of crushed nuts in a crispy sugar coating, and sliced almonds. Loved it.

These?

Absolutely gorgeous they were.

The closure of Patisserie Valerie on Old Compton St. Also the closure of the Stockpot, on the same street. Been going there since I was an undergraduate in the very early 80s.
