What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

You kill spiders😱

I most certainly do!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 15/11/2024 06:23

Sweeteners in every fecking thing instead of sugar. Fed up with reading labels. Sometimes there's sugar AND sweeteners in stuff - no idea what that's about...

Please don’t kill spiders.
They keep the fly population down for you.

So too do frogs....most grub for them!

Motnight · 15/11/2024 06:24

The fact that yogurts, cottage cheese and hummus come without lids on. I cannot see how it helps the environment.

Fargo79 · 15/11/2024 06:27

I miss sponge puddings in a tin. The little plastic pot ones are dreadful and taste of chemicals.

It can’t do because now I use a bit of cling film over the top. I can’t be the only one.

CostelloJones · 15/11/2024 06:28

My local M&S have stopped stocking cheese & celery sandwiches. They also used to do pots of sliced apple with caramel sauce and almond crumble dip, which has also gone. That was literally my meal deal!

They've stopped salting the french fries at my local McDonalds. I'm not sure if that's a regional change or a nationwide one.

The at-home eyelash tinting kits have changed their formula for safety reasons. It doesn't work anymore. I'm guessing eejits kept blinding themselves.

And YES! to the person who mentioned street light bulbs being changed. There is one right outside my house. All night long there is a blinding white light on that makes it look like it is permanently daytime.

A few months ago I read that some councils banned fish and chip shops from offering salt.

Like others I cannot STAND the new artifical white light. When we first moved in to our current home, there were a couple of lights with very weird bulbs, like plastic cylinders covered in tiny squares- they looked so ugly (and provided the ambience of an operating theatre) so we for rid immediately.

renomeno · 15/11/2024 06:28

I miss the Ordinary serum foundation that I used daily.... would love to know if anyone has found a similar replacement. And on the food front the fact that nearly everything has rapeseed oil in now 😩

Chillinvibes · 15/11/2024 06:23

Weedkiller that actually kills weeds which various brands I’ve tried don’t.

Years ago Feminax tablets changed their formula which then didn’t work on my period pain and I had to then take cocodamol which made me feel sick and I usually had to go to bed. Menopaused now but I was really outraged at the time.

Our street lights are now white on taller columns which means they don’t really light up the pavements and therefore feel less safe.

Don’t get me started on quality street and roses it’s an abomination, when one tin lasted well into January 😥

Roundup. Use with extreme caution. I use gloves and very targetted attacks.

There used to be a biscuit called Cafe Noir. A bit like a party ring but coffee flavoured icing.

I think of them often.

I miss these too.

I will never get over the loss of Tooty Frooties and Topics.

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

Couldn't agree more. And the white light just puddles underneath the lamp post and goes no where else.

Acqua Di Gio perfume. 'Oh sir, it's discontinued but Acqua Di Gioa is exactly the same, she'll love it'...

I completely agree. After it went here I used to stock up on my occasional trips abroad, but it isn't anywhere now. The only thing I found that I liked anywhere near as much is Ocean Acqua di Gioia, where the top looks a bit like a polished blue pebble.

CostelloJones · 15/11/2024 06:33

So many cars with headlights like tractors beams blinding me on my drive home!

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 15/11/2024 06:34

I was, and continue to be, gutted that Rowntrees took the decision to only produce vegan friendly Fruit Gums. It means the sweets are now mush and don't have that chewy texture that I loved about them. I can't understand why (and I know I'm not alone in this opinion) they have gone with a 'softer chew' - honestly, this was what I loved about them, that they took longer to eat! They're horrible now and they've lost me as a customer.

CostelloJones · 15/11/2024 06:34

Having to pre-book everything these days.

Yousay55 · 15/11/2024 06:35

M & S prawn curry. Revolting now.

Jifmicroliquid · 15/11/2024 06:35

When cadburys stopped using the purple foil to wrap their chocolate. Chocolate in foil tastes so much nicer (psychologically, obviously).

I also hate white street lights, I prefer the cozy orange glow.

BreatheAndFocus · 15/11/2024 06:35

Cadburys Creme Eggs! I’ve loved them since I was a child and always looked forward to ‘egg season’, eating loads. Then they changed the recipe and, TBH, I wasn’t expecting that big a change. So, I bought one, took a bite - and had to spit it out! It’s the first time I’ve ever thrown away chocolate. It was absolutely vile! Not eaten them since and I always feel sad seeing them now.

Namechangeobviously2024 · 15/11/2024 06:35

Dior Addict perfume. They ruined it with the reformulation (12 years ago).

Café noir still exist in Ireland.

The speed limit change was made to cut road deaths.

It's a contentious issue, highly political topic.

Yep. Just the thing for this light-hearted thread.

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 15/11/2024 06:38

DustyLee123 · 15/11/2024 05:52

I’m sure I’ve seen these around,

No - they discontinued them years ago. People are always on X moaning about the fact to Heinz and they still refuse to bring them back - instead they concentrate on making more and more ridiculous new sauce flavours!

I felt like that about the discontinuation of Gio back in the day...

MogTheSillyCat · 15/11/2024 06:39

Quality Street changing the lovely, Christmassy shiny foil wrappers to those dull papery ones. We used to have lots of fun making sun catchers/crafts with the shiny ones when we were little and peeking through the wrappers, so the room changed colours.

Yes, yes, I know the new ones are better for the environment, but they look rubbish and don’t feel as special.
