What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

The loss of clipper gold tea bags. It's been a few years now and we are still yet to find the perfect replacement cuppa.

DC1214 · 15/11/2024 07:01

Sainsburys tinned vegetarian ravioli, has disappeared from shelves in recent months. Years ago Heinz used to do meat free versions of ravioli and spag bol in yellow and blue tins, they were great.

Mac creme blush in ‘uncommon’ and lipstick in ‘flesh pot’.

The street light changing to that dull white has pissed me off beyond belief

And ridiculous as it sounds 🤣 the coleslaw in my local dobbies has been inexplicably shit for about a year. Dry and horrible.

Cadbury’s chocolate. I still eat it but…it’s just a bit sadder

The Irish Cadbury is still lovely, the UKs is not so good

ReformMyArse · 15/11/2024 07:02

Creosote. Oh, the smell.

There used to be a Nestle cereal in a light brown box, the cereal was a bit like thin bran flakes and it had small lumps of crushed nuts in a crispy sugar coating, and sliced almonds. Loved it.

Nestle Clusters. DH liked them but they don’t appear to be available anymore

DustyLee123 · 15/11/2024 07:03

Years ago Sainsburys did a fresh Italian pasta sauce that was packed with roast chicken, it was delicious. Why do companies always stop making the good stuff!

The speed limit change was made to cut road deaths.

It's a contentious issue, highly political topic.

Well lots of the things mentioned on here have been done for a reason; recipes changed to remove ingredients like msg and additives which change the taste, sugar replaced with sweeteners in drinks due to widespread obesity, the chemical formula of paint stripper changed because it was too powerful and could cause an injury, white streetlights likely use less energy and contribute less to global warming eg etc. This thread isn’t about the reasons behind these things being changed, some of which were probably done with good reason, it’s a lighthearted thread about little things which make people unreasonably annoyed!

Sainsbury’s used to do a scented tea light that made my world better. Discontinued. I wish I had known as I would have bought 5000.

They've stopped salting the french fries at my local McDonalds. I'm not sure if that's a regional change or a nationwide one.

The at-home eyelash tinting kits have changed their formula for safety reasons. It doesn't work anymore. I'm guessing eejits kept blinding themselves.

And YES! to the person who mentioned street light bulbs being changed. There is one right outside my house. All night long there is a blinding white light on that makes it look like it is permanently daytime.

You can get little salt packets next to the ketchup station

schmeler · 15/11/2024 07:05

Mlanket · 15/11/2024 06:56

@schmeler I have a spider phobia but I dint kill them…

Well done!

I have a phobia and do kill them. What about that? Ppl are all different....loads of learning going on this morning for some!

Nandos mushroom and Halloumi burger, the proper one in a Portuguese roll. Not a pitta!

Heinz tomato soup, used to love it, now cant stand it.

M&s tomato soup is better and cheaper if you want an alternative

I’ll try it, thanks.

kikisparks · 15/11/2024 07:08

All the drinks that have sweeteners now instead of sugar. I rarely drink fizzy drinks anyway but I liked to once in a while, now I won’t drink Pepsi or irn bru any more due to the sweeteners.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/11/2024 07:08

Mac Flocking Fabulous lipstick.I even emailed Mac and it's definitely been discontinued. It was the perfect orangy pink

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2024 07:08

The loss of Canadian cheddar cheese.
Although some strong ones are good , that was very good
Agree that chocolate is disappointing
Most soups are just horrible these days

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2024 07:10

Benefit skin care range did a great facial ' scrub ' which was discontinued and nothing else is as good.

Fizbosshoes · 15/11/2024 07:11

I also dislike the white (LED?) streetlights half the time I run in the road because the pavement is so dimly lit. (But I think they are better for the environment)

In my kids words McDonalds chips definitely taste sub-optimal. Interestingly we think they are nicer abroad!

I haven't been OK with Cadbury dairy milk for a long time. It used to be a real treat when I was s kid, and now is really waxy and nasty. But I don't think its a small change, it tastes like a whole different product!

SweetcornFritter · 15/11/2024 07:12

They’ve taken the Netflix app off the Talk Talk box and the only way I can access it now is via my glitchy Amazon fire stick and I haven’t as yet been able to sign in. I would classify this as a major disaster actually.

Disappearance of Ariel colour powder. Everything else I try doesn’t clean or stinks 😡

Removing Worchester sauce french fries. To be honest that broke my heart and Im still not over it.

?
They still make these

IAmNeverThePerson · 15/11/2024 07:15

Pringles ready salted ones now taste awful.

Zestyfrost · 15/11/2024 07:15

Hillier took over my local garden centre and the wonderful Christmas section has never been the same. I was actually thinking about it as I went to sleep last night.
