Should I tell our neighbour we can see her through the window?

So often when I go up to get my daughter sorted in her room, my neighbour is visible from what I assume is her room.

She has 2 young children of her own for context

My daughter is 4 and said this morning 'look mummy, the neighbour lady has her boobies out' Grin

Would you tell your neighbour you can see them? Do you think she knows this and just isn't putting curtails up

I and my husband have also seen her in the evenings, when we've put the bin out or something... she will be standing there at her sink washing up and appears completely naked... definitely topless

We live across from her so can see in

I'm struggling to think of what to actually say if I did confront her

Just knock and tell her, a note might freak her out a bit. Better to come directly from a female neighbour.

You're not "confronting" her.
Say that it's awkward but you can see into her house and did she know?

If she looks blank tell her what your child said and suggest blinds.

No need to "confront". If I were the neighbour's I'd want to know, woyldn't you?

It's not some random man or lone woman with a kink though

This is a busy family woman with two young children. Call be bias but that doesn't sound like someone after a 'kick' of neighbours and their kids seeing you naked!

I bet she isn't. I once told a neighbour I could see him standing in his bathroom shaving every evening after his shower. He wasn't doing it for mine or anyone else's entertainment. He was embarrassed and quickly installed a blind.

If she's the kind of person who is very comfortable naked (ie doing the washing up tits akimbo) I doubt she's the kind of person who's going to give a toss anyone can see her.

I say this as someone who regularly wanders my house naked and doesn't much care if someone sees me. If someone put a note through my door I'd probably just laugh.

I would just knock and say along the lines of “I don’t want to embarrass you but just I wanted to make you aware that from our house, number 6, we can see into your bedroom and kitchen.I just thought I’d let you know, as I didn’t want you to be flashing the neighbours for years without anyone telling you!”

She’ll either look mortified and thank you for letting her know or she’ll explain she’s a nudist, no harm done 🤷🏻‍♀️

Until you said she had kids I had a moment where I thought it might be me! I do occasionally wander round topless, but I'm 99% sure none of the neighbours can see me due to the angles of our windows vs theirs. I'd want to know if they could though, I would tell her.

I guess my next question is, what if she doesn't care or refuses to put up any blinds etc?

It's not very nice having a child see her and be caught off guard by the local naked lady

I have this exact problem. My neighbours have frosted glass in their bathroom but it's not good and we can see everything. We can see straight in when we are in any room at the back of our house. The problem is I feel like I have left it too long to mention it now.

You wouldn't cover up if you knew a neighbour could see you and found it unsettling?

I dont think there is anything you can do without huge embarassment/ awkwardness really so I would let it go.

I would just laugh it off light heartedly - oh some people feel more comfortable without clothes/ she must be hot type thing!

Surely we should be teaching our children (and ourselves) to accept people for what they are and let them get on with it. There is nothing inherently wrong or shameful about seeing a naked body and we shouldnt be trying to shield children from bodies of all shapes and sizes. If its not hurting other people or causing offence it shouldnt be a problem.

(I say this having lived in Brighton for 20+ years where we have seen various interesting things like this - I tell my children to accept peoples right to be different - if we were all the same the world would be very dull)

I'd pop a note through saying, "Hi I'm really sorry but wanted to let you know that we can see you naked through the windows. I promise you we're not staring, we just happen to see you naked, quite often. I know I'd want to be told, and you probably don’t even realise. Take care."
