I’m sure that will only be the start. We need some attacks on striking doctors. I see we’re picking a fight with Scotland and Wales too.

I was just reading that one. That and the other migrant one that @jgw1 is doing a sterling job on are both utterly disheartening.

Cornettoninja · 14/08/2023 09:35

The only people who complain about high inflation are those that hate the NHS

That would include Rishi then? That scans.

newnamethanks · 14/08/2023 09:37

You're not wrong. Bucketful of them emptied onto that thread. Gardez l'eau.

Going out now, and like Clav may be some time.

Those threads are riddled with false facts. I wouldn't even know where to begin with reporting the Fake News to MNHQ....

DuncinToffee · 14/08/2023 10:54

I guess MN could put a disclaimer on those threads with links to facts but those posters don't want facts.

I just got told I was being ridiculous for suggesting that public feeling wasn’t often based on facts so I’m sure they would welcome facts. 😂

countrygirl99 · 14/08/2023 10:57

I put in a bit of effort on one of the migrant ones but I had a very early airport run after a biut of insomnia so don't have the stamina for the idiocracy today.

Which might bring us into an interesting point the the role of government is not to appeal to its voters but to do what’s in the best interests of all their constituents. Something this government could do with remembering.

I think I might have forgotten what that was like.

The Conservatives have been on permanent battle stations/campaigning mode since 2016?2019?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 14/08/2023 08:53

No, no, no. The problems with the NHS are all caused by fat people and the cost of living crisis isn't a crisis, it's the fruition of a government plan to drive up food prices in order to force people to eat less and save the NHS. The only people who complain about high inflation are those that hate the NHS.

You're also wrong.

The massive waiting lists that have been growing for 13 years are ALL to do with the few strikes the past few months from junior doctors - who are striking because of what they've done for the NHS the past decade plus.

Blossomtoes · 14/08/2023 16:12

Looks like @jgw1’s been giving you all lessons! 😂

Zonder · 14/08/2023 16:16

Nobody has blamed But Jeremy Corbyn yet today.

Blossomtoes · 14/08/2023 16:17

Or said at least the Tories know what a woman is.

There are 100+ new messages on that thread since I went to work. Reading those is going to be a waste of my evening isn’t it?

Total waste. It’s an echo chamber. They’re best left to it.

Anxioys · 14/08/2023 17:41

"What I’m hearing on the doorstep is — ‘give us a reason to vote Conservative. We are absolutely not ready to vote Labour yet. But what we won’t do any more is vote Conservative if you just carry on promising things and not delivering.’”

Marco Longhi, MP for Dudley North.

These whip up threads covered in bots are just another performative effort. The Conservatives know they are in the shit, I think it's a May election and they will be looking for delivery or things that look like delivery in the next 9 months.

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/08/2023 17:55

Slight problem being they have no idea how to deliver on anything people want. If it doesn’t involve them making money they are clueless.

Anxioys · 14/08/2023 18:02

The issue about "migration" is a good example of money. The Government wants migration, because of the economic gains. It pretends to its voters that it will change that, but it never does. The last twenty years have effectively done nothing to change it, because they do not wish to do this but will instead pick on a small group of people in boats, who, if they were so minded, they could manage far better than they do.

Cornettoninja · 14/08/2023 18:04

to a point. It’d be very comforting to think that bots are essentially arguing with bots but there are enough people out there who are quite happy to be told what to think that there are very much real people happy to pick up the baton. The one silver lining in hyping a GE so far in advance is that (I hope) people will start feeling conned when they realise they’re defending their vote for a candidate that doesn’t exist. Anywhere. Compromises have to made.

As an aside I very much enjoyed the snippet in the JO’B show today that apparently more people think that Kier is more capable of delivering Rishi’s five pledges than Rishi isGrin

I do not care to ruin my enjoyment of that burn by backing that up with a source.

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/08/2023 18:35

I was wrong. The rest of that thread is amazing. There are some posters on there who are probably just a few posts away from claiming Liz Truss was a misunderstood economic genius.

I must be looking at the wrong thread. How did I miss this? Which one is it?
