Former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng refuses to apologise over his time in office alongside Liz Truss, and tells @cathynewman he would like to see lower taxes under Rishi Sunak.

Kwarteng's going to have a nasty shock when someone explains to him that one of the reasons taxes are so high is that the last Chancellor deliberately crashed the economy.

Rishi Sunak does things that piss off his headbanger colleagues (on immigration, on REUL, on deals with Europe). But if you analyse his actions as someone who knows he's lost the 2024 gen elex and is seeking a big international job (IMF, World Bank) they make perfect sense.
