What food trends can't you stand?

I've just seen a "butter board" on another thread and feel a bit sick? Who thought smashing butter all over a bit of wood might be appetising? 🤢

Also hate boba tea. Vile little bubbles of pus. Yuk

I like the concept of small plates but I never seem to order things that make a cohesive meal when they arrive. Last time I tried it I ended up with 3 plates of really salty food - ham, tuna (Cured. Was not expecting that) and anchovies. Not my best lunch.

Ykn · 25/03/2023 21:36

Food served on wooden boards.

DustyLee123 · 25/03/2023 21:37

Food on a slate or wooden board.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/03/2023 21:37

Food trends in general, I think.

Ripleysgameface · 25/03/2023 21:37

Grazing tables. No thank you.

OtterDisgrace · 25/03/2023 21:39

I would likely lick the butter clean off that board, all common like Grin
Bring me the ginger wensleydale!

JustKeepSlimming · 25/03/2023 21:39

I generally hate food trends. And trends.

Grazing tables. No thank you.

Agreed! Unhygienic IMO.

TheInterceptor · 25/03/2023 21:40

Foamy sauce. Looks like cat sick on the plate. Ugh.

MeinKraft · 25/03/2023 21:41

I don't really get smash burgers. Why not just flatten the burger before you cook it?

LennyCrabbitz · 25/03/2023 21:42

What's a smash burger?

Haha, love your little plate lunch @AchillesElbow

Avocado toast.

Actually, anything with Avocado

Howtohelp1234 · 25/03/2023 21:48

When things are described at ‘Dirty,’ like ‘Dirty Fries’ it puts me right off. Also anything on a slate or chopping board, it’s really impractical and never seems properly clean.

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 21:48

Grazing tables, thankfully I have never encountered one in real life.

Rainbow cakes or any with copious amounts of food colouring in the sponge.

Those cakes piled high with biscuits.

Snowdrop90 · 25/03/2023 21:49

Not a food but matcha tea / coffee. Pretty sure 95% of those drinking it can’t stand it either

Stressybetty · 25/03/2023 21:51

Had to Google butter board. That's just rank.

Bonjovispjs · 25/03/2023 21:52

Salted caramel 🤮 Everyone seems to love it except me, so looks like it's here to stay. Salt belongs on chips, not on my bloody dessert and what really winds me up is you don't even get the option of normal caramel 😡

LennyCrabbitz · 25/03/2023 21:53

@Stressybetty gross isn't it.

Ugh, grazing boards are vile too.

OP posts:
elm26 · 25/03/2023 21:53

Agreed @Bonjovispjs

Bonjovispyjamas · 25/03/2023 21:55

elm26 · 25/03/2023 21:53

Agreed @Bonjovispjs

Glad it's not just me 😊

Riverlee · 25/03/2023 21:55

“Mac ‘n cheese”
(or even ‘macaroni and cheese’.)

No, it’s “macaroni cheese”, there’s no ‘and’ in it.

And when did this become the latest food trend? I see it everywhere now.

Disclaimer, I actually like macaroni cheese.

Riverlee · 25/03/2023 21:56

@Bonjovispyjamas yes!

MyDogStoodOnABee · 25/03/2023 21:56

Canned fish night - I blame tiktok 🤢

LadyHester · 25/03/2023 21:58

Not exactly a food trend, but restaurants where the waiting staff ask ‘Have you eaten with us before?’ and then proceed to explain the Concept at tremendous length, which basically boils down to the menu being comprised of food items which you can order in order to satisfy hunger.
Phew, glad to get that sorted.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/03/2023 22:02

Truffle oil, if you buy it you deserve to get ripped off.

Avocado toast, cold green mush on luke warm now soggy toast 🤢

Massive foods, as in overly sized gargantuan servings of 8 burger patties and 12 onion rings oozing with plastic cheese, that require you to be some sort of human - snake hybrid able to dislocate your jaw to get a bite.

These odd flavours of mayonnaise, not herby or lemon but bacon and other types of meaty flavoured ones, no.
