I've just seen a "butter board" on another thread and feel a bit sick? Who thought smashing butter all over a bit of wood might be appetising? 🤢

Also hate boba tea. Vile little bubbles of pus. Yuk

“Mac ‘n cheese”
(or even ‘macaroni and cheese’.)

No, it’s “macaroni cheese”, there’s no ‘and’ in it.

And when did this become the latest food trend? I see it everywhere now.

Disclaimer, I actually like macaroni cheese.

This!

It's macaroni cheese and that's it! Mac and cheese is that American stuff in a box. Totally different.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/03/2023 22:05

Offal. Can't seem to go anywhere reasonably nice without random innards being part of every dish. In the unlikely event there's something that doesn't comprise of kidney with a tripe jus, there seems to be a compulsion to add black pudding (often as a 'crumb', so you can't even pick it off).

RosesAndHellebores · 25/03/2023 22:06

DH has never quite come to terms with Thai. We both struggle a little with chicken peas and lentils. Probably fads/trends of yesteryear.

LennyCrabbitz · 25/03/2023 22:08

Yes, I love black pudding but it's on everything these days!

I don't like chocolate with salt/sea salt. I know many people love it, but I think it ruins the chocolate.

AdaColeman · 25/03/2023 22:11

Chorizo in everything, even traditional fish meals.
Chilli in absolutely everything! 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
Mexican food, how many ways can you fold a tortilla?

Foods described as Dirty or Naughty.

WeAreTheHeroes · 25/03/2023 22:11

Being shown what a steak looks like in an expensive steakhouse. Completely unnecessary mucking about.

Heart attack desserts loaded with branded biscuits and sliced chocolate bars. Like a pp, I hate it when cakes are decorated with stuff like that and especially wrapped sweets like Lindor and Ferraro Rocher. Everything apart from candles and cake label/plaque should be edible or it had no place on the cake

Sandrine1982 · 25/03/2023 22:13

Salted caramel - YUCK!

bubble tea - YUCK

Yes, I agree about salted caramel!
I have never tried bubble tea.

scoobycute · 25/03/2023 22:18

Savoury waffles....

Now I wouldn't say no to some savoury & sweet combos like bacon & maple syrup or salted caramel or sweet & salted popcorn so I'm not completely against salt and sweet...

But keep seeing (and have tasted) fried buttermilk chicken on a waffle. Sweet chicken is all kinds of wrong!

camelfinger · 25/03/2023 22:20

Really tall cakes. It’s almost as if a normal two layer sandwich cake just won’t do, and for a birthday it needs to be several layers and I have no idea how you are supposed to cut it or eat it. On the cake theme, red believer cake looks a bit weird to me and the name sounds nicer than it is. And the cupcakes with a shit ton of icing on.
In some restaurants where they have to patronisingly explain the concept of the food they make and how your supposed to share 2-3 dishes per person and you can’t figure out how to divide it up. I just want a main course, maybe a starter.
How all vegetarian food in restaurants now is vegan, so you can’t have anything with proper cheese in or lashings of dairy without also eating meat.
Dangly kebabs.
Things that might not be edible e.g food wrapped in banana leaves.
Triple chocolate anything is just chocolate to me.

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 22:23

I agree about salted caramel (much prefer the normal sort) and chorizo in everything.

LennyCrabbitz · 25/03/2023 22:23

"Things that might not be edible e.g food wrapped in banana leaves."

Yes! Do you eat the skin of a stuffed aubergine? It feels very much like a wrapper to me so I pretend not to like it because I'm not sure. DH eats his 🤣

What's a smash burger?

Haha, love your little plate lunch @AchillesElbow

It is a burger that they squash when they put it on the grill

emma1103 · 25/03/2023 21:44

Avocado toast.

Actually, anything with Avocado

Avocado isn't a trend.

GCAcademic · 25/03/2023 22:26

Another hater of salted bloody caramel here. When it became popular a few years ago, I assumed it would be a short-lived fad, but if anything it’s become more pervasive. I went to buy a Waitrose meal deal the other week and of the five possible desserts, three of them involved this abomination.

Spidey66 · 25/03/2023 22:28

You beat me to it. Disgusting stuff, and all over the place.

Phos · 25/03/2023 22:28

Everything rainbow. I can sort of understand it on a cupcake maybe but rainbow bagels are apparently a thing. I just want a bagel coloured bagel.

Newpuppymummy · 25/03/2023 22:29

Fake meat based dishes instead of vegetable based veggie choices. This is becoming huge.

Izzieloo · 25/03/2023 22:29

Can’t stand my meal in little pots a pot of chips a pot of beans it annoys me .

MintJulia · 25/03/2023 22:33

Salted Caramel 😩

Sickly sweet cakes
Anything with so much chilli on it that I can't taste the underlying food.

Philadelphia - which tastes of absolutely nothing.

whoamI00 · 25/03/2023 22:35

food made for vegan in general. I love vegetables and grains and stuff like that but I don't like good made for vegan. It just doesn't taste nice. I don't like oat drinks either.

Jemimapuddleduk · 25/03/2023 22:36

Grazing tables- urgh, they just look unhygienic and such a mishmash of foods.

WandaWonder · 25/03/2023 22:36

Sourdough

I hate it anyway, but when did it become a side?
