What do you do with Gu ramekins?

We've recently had 6 Gu puddings (what luxury 😁) and I've diligently washed the ramekins but I don't know what to do with them now.

Seems a waste just to recycle them but not sure what we could use them for...

I use one to measure out my slightly tubby cat's daily food allowance.

the rest I always wash and then let hang around for a while as a guest in our played/bowls cupboard before they inevitably end up in the recycling...

Tealight holders
Snack bowls

Andrelaxzz · 22/01/2023 08:05

I put snacks in the occasional. In the main I use them to fill up the kitchen cupboard.

Ah yes we also have a few that just sit in the cupboard and take up room

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/01/2023 08:06

I keep them in the cupboard. They always have a use. One year they were needed for the village Christmas dinner for sugar/ cranberry sauce bowls. They put a plea out for any spare GU pots!

Coffeecreme · 22/01/2023 08:06

wouldnt charity shops take them?

weaselwords · 22/01/2023 08:06

Mine get used as ashtrays by the 20 something and his friends. I am not impressed and had visions of me whipping up delicious soufflés in them 😡

Tea light holders?

TakeABite · 22/01/2023 08:06

you can a buy wooden lids for these now so you can use them and keep things sealed. God knows what.

I have one full of hair bands on my dresser.
A couple on rotation in the kitchen as spoon rests, and the others get recycled.

Hidingawaytoday · 22/01/2023 08:06

I use them to freeze toddler sized meals or as mini bowls if mixing fruit and yogurt for dd - that sort of thing.

Tamarindtree · 22/01/2023 08:07

Rice or mashed potato mould?

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 22/01/2023 08:07

They’re great to use as paint or glue pots if you know any crafters or children

Tamarindtree · 22/01/2023 08:08

Paint/water pots for children’s crafting?

Sleepwalkingintothewall · 22/01/2023 08:09

Make your own curry paste and freeze.

OR recycle them and live your life.

Sasha07 · 22/01/2023 08:09

I save mine for the chauterie board, so handy for nuts and other little bits.

Ooooh great idea thanks

MonkeyMindAllOverAround · 22/01/2023 08:09

If they have come with a plastic lid, I use them to put my dry muesli and oats mix for breakfast at the office or take snack seeds/nuts to work.

I have also used them to carry kibble for my small dog if I am having a brunch in a coffee shop.

Sunnysidegold · 22/01/2023 08:09

I use them for lemon posset. Dead easy and delicious.

How did I not know this? I’ve been straight onto Amazon and bought a pack of 6 lids…I might now actually use some of the many Gu pots I’ve got lurking around!

Oh I like the hair bobbles idea! Have never succeeded in finding a proper way to store those (usually keep them round my wrist/in my hair/scattered around randomly).

Decorate and use as a spare change pot?

What do you do with Gu ramekins?
chimichangaz · 22/01/2023 08:10

Pringles lids fit them perfectly. I use mine as snack pots, sauce holders, and for holding small plastic food bags open to dry after I've washed them. Also sometimes put small amounts of grated cheese in or use to zest lemons or limes. Or olives for snacking.

Sunnysidegold · 22/01/2023 08:10

I heard on the radio that a pringles lid will fit on the top of these too.

Spudlet · 22/01/2023 08:10

Snack receptacles
Massage oil pots (ok, that one’s a bit niche, but they’re great as you can stand them on a radiator and have warm oil)
We have one full of shells and sea glass that DS and I collected on the beach
Paint and glue pots for DS’s craft projects
Handy pots for random change, pins, bits of wire and so on

They are very useful!

Ragwort · 22/01/2023 08:11

coffee I manage a charity shop and we get inundated with them .. I've never known anyone actually want to buy them Grin.
