The police have asked people NOT to speculate. So perhaps you shouldn't speculate?

Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:22

But the police are still appealing for any info/public witnesses! 🙃 why wouldn’t people speculate?! A young woman has been horrifically killed!

Asking for witnesses is an entirely different think to people speculating making shit up

I very nearby. People are speculating because the police have said they THINK they have found all of the dangerous dogs, but they are still out looking and helicopters are still circling. People want to know whether it will be safe to let kids walk to nearby schools tommorow. Poor, poor woman. I hope it was quick but I know it will have been terrifying. There were some very disturbed witnesses on local FB (now taken down). Plus lots of idiots going aw the poor dog, it was probably just scared, please don't kill it!🙄

Passpass · 12/01/2023 22:28

There are huge amount of dogs in this country and many many many are out of control. There are ‘no go’ areas where I live as you can’t walk through without get jumped on, chased, etc etc. Terrifying for vulnerable people.

Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:29

O my goodness!!!! That is absolutely awful it must of been a breeder?! To have soo many I hope all the dogs are found!!! That is shocking! I wouldn’t let my child walk anywhere until they had caught up with the owners and confirmed all the dogs whereabouts 😔

Nothing I have seen (extensive posts on FB earlier) has said anything about the police asking people not to speculate, including the Surrey/Tandridge police updates.

This makes me very angry. Caterham is beautiful with lovely countryside and err lots of bridal paths and you're increasingly chased on bike or horse by horrible, out of control dogs. And they are all the usual suspect breed, the ones that are actually capable.of.ripping people's throats out. It's time that breed was force to die out.

Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:30

Omg really?!!! Something needs to happen FAST that is terrifying!!!! What the bludy hell is your local council doing?! I adore dogs but this would absolutely petrify me!!!! 😔

Sky news is reporting that there were 7 dogs taken into police custody by officers news.sky.com/story/woman-in-her-20s-dies-after-reports-of-dog-attack-police-say-12785359

I was responding to queava well someones posted on this post who’s local and confirmed there are still concerns not all dogs have been caught 😳

Hi, I did read the story but was a bit confused: Are they claiming that the seven dogs that attacked her were all owned by the same owner, or just random dogs that clubbed together and attacked her? If it's the former, then I don't see how this can be washed away as "speculation" (as said by another poster)

Ostryga · 12/01/2023 22:34

There’s speculation and then there’s saying that it’s fucking ridiculous these dogs are being continually bred (and we all know what type of breed they are)

This is absolutely horrific. I don’t care how many people love dogs and blame the owners, there is only a certain few breeds in this country that kill people and babies and it needs to fucking stop.

I can’t imagine how the woman’s family feel this evening. It is unthinkable and such a tragedy.

Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:35

A local on this thread has confirmed that they are unsure if all the dogs have been caught as they have issued warnings to locals as it goes!

Another question (sorry, I'm only asking you as you said you are local) - were the dogs on their own on the street or being walked at the time?

Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:36

Exactly THIS!

OP posts:
Babsexxx · 12/01/2023 22:38

Or someone who owns plenty of dogs then?! I know dogs can act pack like with other dogs familiar to them! but it would be highly unusual for them to all get on like besties randomly in a field/park and all attack together!

The dogs must be known to eachother.

OP posts:
SmartHome · 12/01/2023 22:38

7 plus dogs involved apparently which is why people are thinking a breeder. But there are also a couple of boarding kennels nearby plus the area is very popular with dog walkers and you often see people with 5 or 6 dogs on leads, professional dog walkers. There is also a traveller presence in the area at the moment, plus a permanent camp (or was, it might have gone recently as the land was up for sale).

There has been a large increase in animals being attacked in fields over the past few years, since lockdown I guess when everyone got dogs. I often cycle or walk at a nearby airfield popular with dog walkers and I've pretty much had to stop as I was sick of being chased by dogs. As usual, owners not dogs etc but there aren't many breeds capable of killing an adult woman. RIP.

Sheer speculation There are other people who have lots of dogs

Boomboom22 · 12/01/2023 22:40

Let's hope this is finally the catalyst fir the government to do something about out of control dogs. We need far far stricter laws about breeding, ownership and much more accountability.

Boomboom22 · 12/01/2023 22:41

The owners should be held responsible for at least manslaughter and in prison for a l9ng long time.

It’s a joke something has got to change I’m extremely weary leaving my house at the minute as a couple of young lads have these great big mastiffs and the size of the boys looks like a strong gust of wind could take them out!!! They walk them off lead too without a collar so if anything did happen I don’t know what they’d do?! Grab them by the scruff of the neck maybe???!

Word for word quote in every article from the police “This incident will be concerning to the local community and I would like to reassure them that we believe all dogs have been accounted for and are in police custody.
“Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing and we would ask the community not to speculate."
