It's a bit like my exH's answer to DD about why he hadn't seen. 'Because he was moving house'. For 29 years?

My ex refused to have ds 1 overnight a month.

Because "when will I get to go out?"

Errrr one of The other at least 29 days?

There's no making up the idiocy of some people!

itsgettingweird · 22/01/2023 19:32

DuncinToffee · 22/01/2023 16:08

And Johnson makes a surprise visit to Ukraine

Wonder who paid for it....

Against advice apparently. He's a fucking dangerous knob

DuncinToffee · 22/01/2023 19:32

How is your DS doing itsgettingweird? Have you managed to get an appointment.

Nope!

Left a voicemail for his consultants secretary but haven't heard anything. But that doesn't mean they have sent through the request for adult neurology to accept the referral. I need to chase it up.

Notonthestairs · 22/01/2023 22:05

FFS it really shouldn't be that difficult to transfer from paediatric care to adult care. I hope you can get that resolved soon Itsgettingweird.

NEW: Confirmed by @robpowellnews that Nadhim Zahawi did reach HMRC settlement WHILE he was Chancellor.

At the same time as he had direct oversight of the tax man. And of the nation's finances.

twitter.com/tomlarkinsky/status/1617281122609795072?s=46&t=Ly69cRDx98EYC7YCV-P_Yw

All perfectly normal.

Roussette · 22/01/2023 22:11

No idea how true this is, but I'm reading sunak has asked him to resign and he's refused!

Could be untrue, we'll see!

the80sweregreat · 22/01/2023 22:16

My prediction , for what it's worth , Mr Zahawi will be gone by tomorrow.

Roussette · 22/01/2023 22:17

I am thinking by Wednesday and PMQs

Chevyimpala67 · 22/01/2023 22:19

He'll refuse to go
He's that arrogant

Blossomtoes · 22/01/2023 22:28

How can you refuse to go if you’re sacked?

Chevyimpala67 · 22/01/2023 22:30

Blossomtoes · 22/01/2023 22:28

How can you refuse to go if you’re sacked?

Sunak is in thrall to the far right of the party. He has no real power (see raab, braverman etc)

Roussette · 22/01/2023 22:45

Well.... I suppose it looks better if he goes if his own volition as opposed to being sacked and issuing an explosive statement...we've seen that before haven't we....

Roussette · 22/01/2023 22:46

of his own volition

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/01/2023 23:59

Sunaks words "This government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level."

Bollocks. He seems to me to be a pathetic excuse of a man who's unable to even begin to understand what that sentence means.

How he can have the support of even one MP right now is something I struggle to comprehend. He can fuck off and take the rest of his ilk with him. Rotten to the core, the lot of them. They should be in prison. I suspect the only reason the other tories are quiet is because they are all as fucking bad.

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2023 06:22

To be fair, all politicians promise the earth.
They are hardly going to tell the truth ( we will not give a shit , think we are above the law and plunder as much money as we can )
It's just that now the Tories don't seem to care what it looks like anymore , that's the difference now I think. They just defend their actions and think the majority of people are just stupid.
They should all be made to watch ' the bank of dave ' on Netflix.

Notonthestairs · 23/01/2023 08:54

The Times has tweeted an article which highlights that Zahawi deleted his messages from a chat with David Cameron regarding Greensill. Cameron had asked for Zahawi's help in getting Greensill government loans.
When this was investigated Zahawi claimed he hadn't been in contact with Cameron and then had to admit he had deleted relevant messages.

twitter.com/timespolitics/status/1617424596382146560?s=46&t=KTZbRqe8kyGUnI7SJYpJNA

Also interesting that the Evening Standard highlighted in 2013 Zahawi's use of Gibraltar legal firm to set up an off shore trust to buy property - including riding school with those infamous heated stables. That is not illegal of course but indicative that he's been using Gibraltar based trusts for years and presumably has some understanding as to how they work with regard to tax.

Notonthestairs · 23/01/2023 08:55

Haven't watched the bank of Dave yet 80's - is it good?

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2023 09:17

It's a quirky film and very well acted
It isn't keen on bankers! (The traditional ones anyway )
I enjoyed it a lot. Even if some of it might be a bit of poetic license. I didn't know the story beforehand though

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2023 11:26

And we are back to 'waiting for Sue Gray'

Rishi Sunak has asked new ethics adviser Sir Laurie Magnus to investigate Nadhim Zahawi tax case, as there are "questions that need answering".

BBC chair Richard Sharp asks for review of potential conflicts of interest amid claims he helped Boris Johnson secure a loan.

Roussette · 23/01/2023 11:26

I've just read this. Is Sunak holding off or is this the long road to him resigning I wonder...

Roussette · 23/01/2023 11:29

www.itv.com/news/2023-01-23/what-does-zahawi-mean-when-saying-he-was-careless

Worth a read. Careless appears to be his words, not HMRC.

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2023 11:32

And also the return to, there was no party, only 30 seconds blah blah

From
twitter.com/Haggis_UK/status/1617474898179330048?t=jDsZANrb9Q-0kuZK8kaCjA&s=19

Boris Johnson on Richard Sharp(Chairman BBC)

"Richard Sharp is a good & wise man, but he knows absolutely nothing about my personal finances... this is just another example of the BBC disappearing up its own fundament.. "

To
twitter.com/Gabriel_Pogrund/status/1617478526617141249?t=E368emCXoPmkD5WGujbEVA&s=19

I understand Boris Johnson is not seeking to deny that Richard Sharp was involved in talks about the loan.

He is not disputing that Sharp introduced his guarantor to Simon Case.

Former PM is denying that Sharp had detailed knowledge of his personal finances.

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 23/01/2023 11:36

What counts as "detailed knowledge"? Knowing somebody owes 2 years salary in tax (£300,000)? Knowing somebody needs a guarantor to underwrite £800,000 credit?
Or does Sharp needs to know how much free food Johnson received from Daylesford/Bamford or his freebie holidays? How much the drinks trolley cost?
