Rishi speaks to his subjects as if we were all 5-year old children sitting cross-legged in the school hall and enraptured by him, he thinks we should all just adore him and obey him because he's so wonderful and wealthy

L1ttledrummergirl · 12/01/2023 14:11

I think he is the man who would be King.

This is actually a good description. We are really starting to see it come through.

He believes if he says something everyone will go "oh Rishi, of course you're right".

Doesn't really work when he has no clue how anyone in Britain lives because he has never experienced a normal life and normal level of wealth.

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2023 16:24

In case people haven't seen the NASUWT will not be striking. 90% of teachers who voted voted for strike action but apathetic turnout meant threshold was not reached.

Am feeling livid and frustrated.

There are other union ballots to come: NEU, ASCL and NAHT.

thank you @itsgettingweird, I'm sure he's a decent enough chap and very clever, but I just cant see that he's the right person for the position he's in!

Ha! Very true. He sounds incredibly patronising - and I think 'I know more than you about normal life'.

I am not sure he is especially clever, tbh. Obviously he has a decent education, but so do quite a lot of people - it is a very different thing to really think new things in politics.

I stand corrected, instead of clever, I should have said 'has a talent for making ££££ flow into his bank account' !!

I saw it and was quite surprised. Only 42% returned their ballot?

Yes, it's odd....

Of course, online balloting isn't allowed.

War chest?

💰 NEW: Boris Johnson has just declared a HUGE £1 million donation from crypto investor Christopher Harborne to his personal company.

Harborne previously donated £13.7m to Reform UK.

Johnson also declared £20k from the Bamfords for use of their home for 2 months.

DuncinToffee · 12/01/2023 19:35

And what do they want in return, I wonder..

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 12/01/2023 19:44

I wonder. They obviously think they can bring down Sunak. They've got plenty of meat to pick over May elections, NI protocol and Retained EU law.

Rees Mogg has been wanging on again recently - Brexit opportunities denied by evil Remainers etc. they are desperate to move us as far away from Europe as possible before Labour get in.

And we know Johnson will take money from anywhere or anyone.

Truly a united party!

Pippa Crerar reporting Johnson is planning on a trip to visit Zelensky. 🙄

His new donor lives in Thailand. I'm sure it's all above board.

CriticalAlert · 12/01/2023 20:48

How can anyone consider he's a decent bloke? He's killing people and driving the country into the ground.

Did people receive their ballot papers?
Or just assumed everyone else had voted?

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2023 21:34

I think there will be a bit of an inquest at HQ!

L1ttledrummergirl · 12/01/2023 21:45

I received some Christmas cards this week.

If they were reliant on the post office during a strike period, at the busiest time of the year, this might explain some shortage on returns. I don't know the dates that were involved though.

I can't imagine any of the teachers I know ignoring their ballot paper in the current climate.

DuncinToffee · 12/01/2023 23:06

This is bad, Leo Docherty is the minister

UPDATE: The Foreign Office has tonight been forced to correct major mistakes in a minister's speech to parliament about the removal of British Council contractors from Afghanistan.

That's a pretty awful cock up. I hope mistake rather than deliberately misleading. Those poor people, 18 months hiding from the Taliban and no clear end in sight.

DuncinToffee · 13/01/2023 09:23

Lol

EXCL: Boris Johnson could strike a deal with Rishi Sunak not to challenge him if he’s given a safe seat at the next election, under plans being considered by the ex-PM’s allies

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 13/01/2023 19:48

I just saw PMQs where Sunak answered about how he's registered with an NHS GP despite not being asked that and despite avoiding saying he has a private GP for the past week. Which for me begs the question, how long have you been registered with this NHS GP. Because I'm going to bet my leftover Christmas chocolate that he wasn't registered with them last week.

L1ttledrummergirl · 13/01/2023 21:05

Everyone in the UK should be registered with an NHS GP regardless of whether they also choose to go private. Even the rich and famous sometimes need to use the NHS and the GP records are a central reference point.
