Sorry, I meant to say that he should always have been registered with an NHS gp. When he last used one is another question but that would be confidential unless he chooses otherwise. We have no rights to that information.

Notonthestairs · 13/01/2023 22:41

I have been up for nearly 20 hours so I hope this makes some sort of sense...

I know plenty of people who are registered with both a private and NHS GP. DH is one of them, he has one at work. But he knows exactly where he is registered!

I suspect it's been so long since Sunak contacted his NHS Gp he couldn't remember who he was registered with.

But this is what is is (rightly) dangerous for politicians.

Be honest. Admit that you don't have time to spend 40 minutes on the phone at 8am to get an appointment. Or to give over half a day waiting for a telephone consult. Admit most of us also don't have that time.

Admit we don't have enough GPs.

Say that we deserve more and the government will invest in more those services (and explain how).
Set out a plan to make it easier.

Do what we pay you to do - smooth our path.
But don't criticise our productivity when you don't understand basic public health issues.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 13/01/2023 22:48

I genuinely couldn't care less whether he goes private or not. It's the manipulative, sneaky, treating us like fools non-answer which fucks me off.

I agree. But that is their mistake. It's why people won't vote for him/them. I hope.

Home Office is trying to prevent the circulation of a video of Braverman being confronted by a Holocaust survivor

The Home Office is seeking the removal of our video of Joan's exchange with Suella Braverman.

But we are standing our ground.

^The full video is here:

The Home Office tweet is in the replies

As mentioned underneath she's done a Rishi - my family were... As if that provides any cover.

She won't change her (appalling) language because then she'd lose the Brexit/UKIP vote.

Interesting that the Home Office wants to remove the video. Braverman was speaking as Fareham's MP not as Home Secretary.

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2023 21:07

I honestly don't know how anyone can look a child refugee in the eye and say using the word swarm is ever acceptable.

itsgettingweird · 15/01/2023 07:21

I wonder when that was taken?

She has done speeches here as Fareham MP but also spoken in Fareham about her role as Home Secretary and I believe under her role as HS just within our constituency.

She didn't answer the question anyway. It was about the hateful language and you can highlight the issue of small boats without using that.

itsgettingweird · 15/01/2023 07:27

And Google has confirmed that was taken Friday at her speech in Fareham about the role of Home Secretary.

That was the intent old you about - fiver a head.

Boris Johnson funded his lifestyle in No10 through a credit facility of up to £800,000 underwritten by a multi-millionaire and distant relative

Sam Blyth also gave Johnsons free use of his Caribbean villa 1/4

I've just read all this in the ST. It's beyond parody. A man in charge of an entire country who can't manage his own budget on a salary multiple times the median wage.

Notonthestairs · 15/01/2023 11:07

Yes I've read that too. Cousin underwriting £800,000 borrowing whilst simultaneously being put forward for British Council chief executive position- what a wild coincidence!

Johnson's financial arrangements are seriously murky.

I'm a similar age and I've never needed a proprietary and ethics committee to review my finances. I've never needed committees investigating whether I can cover my taxes either.

Simon Case seems to have been very willing to dedicate his time to sorting out Johnson's liberal misuse of donors funds. Taxpayers time and money being devoted to Johnson keeping his job.

I think half of his behaviour would have disqualified him from standing as local council let alone as PM.

DuncinToffee · 15/01/2023 11:40

More dodgy money affairs

Zahawi to cough up “several million” £ in unpaid back tax re the off-shore family trust Balshore Investments.

This is after denying liability, lying about his benefit, threatening lawyer @DanNeidle who has done a TOP JOB facing him & his lawyers down and calling them out

Article in the Sun

After months of scrutiny about Nadhim Zahawi’s tax affairs @TheSun can reveal the former Chancellor has agreed to pay several million pounds to HMRC to settle a dispute

Surely this should disqualify Zahawi from holding a Cabinet position? We can't have Ministers ducking tax. As with Johnson this sort of track record would be considered unfavourably in local government.

Zahawi & Osborne Clark behaved atrociously towards Dan Neidle.

Piggywaspushed · 15/01/2023 12:16

It's genuinely no wonder at all that they can't empathise with people on even pretty high salaries, let alone the low paid , the migrants, the jobless, the homeless.

They just can't see why we don't all put our millions offshore. And they genuinely think they deserve their millions - meritocracy, innit?

L1ttledrummergirl · 15/01/2023 12:29

The PMs wife avoided paying tax, a former chancellor of the exchequer avoided paying tax.
These things always filter down, those at the top set the tone and they are clearly only out for themselves.

Boris Johnson is a whole other level of wtf.

L1ttledrummergirl · 15/01/2023 13:50

Sir Howard Davies (chairperson of the royal bank of Scotland) on the Laura Kuenssberg programme this morning was an absolute jackass. His assertion that everyone has a shitload of money in their bank accounts is fucking dangerous for a man in his position. He has conveniently missed a huge swathe of the population but his views may influence government decisions. It was said as though it was a fact when this cannot possibly be true.

Keir Starmer came across very well despite Kuenssberg asking stupid questions, failing to listen and constantly interrupting. Please BBC get a half decent interviewer to front this programme, it's pretty much unwatchable at the moment.

If the National Education Union votes to strike today - which seems likely - that will be a huge headache for the government, and will be massively disruptive to parents and the functioning of the economy. 🧵 1/9

Long may it continue. We need coordinated national action and I'm all for it. But having read all of Peston's thread I have to say that I very much doubt this government will reflect on anything at all. They aren't capable of it.
