DH has just smashed every single glass we own

... bar the handful that were in the dishwasher.

He was doing some DIY in the kitchen and (don't ask me how) unscrewed the wall mounted kitchen cabinet which holds all of our glasses, including our wedding Waterford Crystal. I wasn't at home at the time but apparently the noise and mess was epic.

No reason for the thread except to to mourn the loss of my lovely crystal wine goblets...

Oh no!

vodkaredbullgirl · 14/10/2022 11:28

ops

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 14/10/2022 11:29

Ah that is annoying.

I was worried he'd flung them at the wall during a blazing row and I was scurrying on to tell you to get rid of him.

Sadly with an accident you have to out on a tight smile and accept that these things happen. Bloody annoying though!

Discovereads · 14/10/2022 11:29

What was he thinking?! That is epic.

FiveShelties · 14/10/2022 11:30

Could be worse, they could have been full wine glasses.

thesandwich · 14/10/2022 11:31

Insurance?

Paq · 14/10/2022 11:32

He is excellent at DIY but occasionally slapdash. He has no one else to blame because he installed the kitchen himself 12 years ago, and cant believe he installed a wall mounted cupboard only held up by two screws.

Yes, tight smile, "it's only stuff", wine tonight (out of coffee cups).

AuntieMarys · 14/10/2022 11:34

fiveshelties look on the bright side

windowwhy · 14/10/2022 11:36

Wine glass shopping is my favourite kind of shopping, enjoy OP!

MarshaBradyo · 14/10/2022 11:37

That is bad

Donotgogentle · 14/10/2022 11:38

Couldn’t some unwanted gifts have got destroyed in the accident too?

Silver linings and everything?

Oceans12 · 14/10/2022 11:39

Flippin' eck ! That must be some kind of a record !

ShadowPuppets · 14/10/2022 11:40

Oh god op, I’m sorry. DD accidentally broke a gorgeous bowl I bought years ago in Morocco a few days ago and I was so sad but had to do the ‘it’s only stuff!’ line - I can’t imagine having to do it for all your glass and wedding stuff at that :(

FieldOverFence · 14/10/2022 11:40

ahem .... empty the cabinet first you plonker ..... :D

FIL managed all the glasses and Pyrex dishes, jugs etc Grin

marmitecake · 14/10/2022 11:43

Oh dear, op. You need to search for THE most expensive and luxurious glasses you can possibly find and send DH the link plus a link to six crates of the best wine of your liking too.

Dogsgottabone · 14/10/2022 11:44

Happened to me once, also included were all my plates and bowls in the adjoining cupboard.

You need grabby rawl plugs that sort of expand at the back and more than two of them!

We have wedding Waterford crystal too, it is lovely.

Beefilm · 14/10/2022 11:47

This happened to me once as a child. Reached into a wall hung cupboard for a glass and the whole cupboard came off the wall onto my head. Very little was saved.

These things happen. It's a shame but like another poster I thought you were going to say he had flung them in a rage so things could be worse.

slowquickstep · 14/10/2022 11:47

I would be out shopping for new crystal this weekend for his Chrismas present.

TheMousePipes · 14/10/2022 11:51

Off you go to buy some nice new ones then.
And some wine to go in them
<silver lining>

AryaStarkWolf · 14/10/2022 11:51

Rest In Pieces 😪

StapFooterin · 14/10/2022 11:52

That has reminded me about opening the crockery cupboard as a teenager and it came off the wall. With my cat like reflexes(!) I managed to grab it before it fell. I saved quite a few plates and cups, but unfortunately a lot of them landed on my poor feet!
