Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

1000 replies

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

Oooo I love a twatty celebrity thread! 👀

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:22

@SwissRole123 he's definitely the most famous person I've ever seen/met

I've had brief hellos to other celebs but they've all been quite minor ones such as Adam Woodyatt (very much like his character on east Enders)

I’d think what he actually said and put it back when you’d gone and got another one but I wouldn’t say it out loud

Leafy3 · 30/08/2022 11:25

😮

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:25

@BogOffTraceyBeaker Why? It was concealed in a plastic tub for context

AllPlayedOut · 30/08/2022 11:27

TBH that's exactly the sort of thing I'd expect from Christian Bale. He's well known for being a bit of a dick.

Full body slam when Amy Winehouse ran full pelt into me at a crossing - she ran across a red man, through traffic, big crowds. Not even an acknowledgement or apology, hurt a quite a bit. Was never a fan but that cemented my views.

Maybe she was drunk Grin

Helen Mirren literally elbowing me out of the way to push in to the front of the queue for airport baggage security. There were only 3 of us in the queue.

Jamie Oliver's entourage - just as he was becoming famous - asking me to leave the computer area in the BA lounge so he could have some privacy. I was the only person in a huge room.

LindaEllen · 30/08/2022 11:44

A few years ago (probably 20 now!) Louise Redknapp was taking part in an event for Tickled Pink breast cancer charity run by Asda. They were releasing a song, and getting groups together to sing it in every Asda store in the country, and she would be performing on a stage at the head office in Leeds. A huge amount of effort had gone into it, and my uncle worked for Asda FM at the time, so was part of the techie team taking her through exactly what would happen and how it would work linking up with the other stores etc.

She arrived, wasn't happy with the number of people in the crowd, told my uncle they were wasting her time, and got straight back in her Land Rover and drove off again.

Problem is, she was obviously very early arriving to sort everything out, and there were plenty of people who turned up as the time got closer - and my uncle had to then explain to them, and to the video link crowds in every store in the country, where she had gone.

This was for a breast cancer charity for goodness sake.

I hope you stood your ground and said no to Jamie Oliver’s nonsense.

I don’t think the OP had picked the sushi out the tub with her bare fingers and was holding it aloft to him

SisterAgatha · 30/08/2022 12:00

I met a few Blue Peter presenters who turned up to a large star studded London charity event to raise money for the charity, where there was free food and drink etc, and “didn’t bring their wallets” when asked for a donation.

Presumably several people have touched it, including staff and other people who might have fancied it.

christian bale punched his own mum, didn’t he?

Mushroomlady · 30/08/2022 12:02

Tracey Emin audibly huffed at me from behind as I was walking down an escalator at King's Cross station. There was a buggy blocking the way and I couldn't get past but she assumed I was just stopping for no reason!

Who is Christian Bale?

He’s an actor and a very good one - his breakthrough was in Empire of the Sun when he was 13. Among many others, the Dark Knight and brilliant in The Big Short.
However, as we all know, talent has no bearing on personality.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 30/08/2022 12:03

I'd be surprised if someone met Christian Bale and declared him to be a delight. A renowned arse.

Bobbins36 · 30/08/2022 12:03

Jess Glynne. Awful. As were her ‘people’. Diva demands and rudeness all round.

Motnight · 30/08/2022 12:06

My dh worked with Christian Bale many years ago. Was literally working in a room with him but wasn't allowed to speak to him directly but via his assistant.

It was made clear to dh tgat whilst this was bonkers he would lose his job if he dared speak directly to CB.

Festoonlights · 30/08/2022 12:08

Victoria Beckham couldn’t even bring herself to smile - much less even speak at a drinks party.

Liam from Oasis threw chairs around in a fit of rage in a pub we used to go to in London

Richard Branson is the creepiest, trying to get us to agree to go back to his house. So rude as we were young and the same as his children. He was married and I challenged in on that, he said ‘ I like a feisty girl’ 🤢

Leafy3 · 30/08/2022 12:08

What is it with overinflated celebrities and people speaking directly to them?
I don't understand...Are they secretly terrified of people? Do they think they'll burst into flame?
Do they get given a How To Behave Like An Entitled Tw*t kit when they become famous?

Mystifies me.

I’ve heard that too, she was appalling on a flight when she thought nobody recognised her so broke out singing… 🙄

Tbf, our ceo is like this.

I emailed him once about something, and my boss told me to talk to ceo like he’s the queen….

erm. No. Why would I do that? My own H is way more VIP/powerful than our CEO, I don’t bow and scrape to him…
