Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

1000 replies

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

I’ve worked in a hospital before and they would normally ask people to leave the lift. Surprised they didn’t in this case

They did. He refused. They could have called security but chose not to.

Google "Christian Bale I want you off the set " for an example of his twattery.

Why does he sound like he has an American accent sometimes? Not in films, but interviews etc Confused

I've never had a rude encounter, the only encounter I've had with a celebrity was the opposite, he was astonishingly kind.

I was in Malaga and wanted to take a picture of a building close up. I went up the stairs looking at the camera and no looking where I was going when I crushed into someone coming down the stairs quickly, he was Antonio Banderas. It was a bit of a shock, we both apologised, I suddenly realised who he was and said something like "you look fabulous". He took my hand, planted a kiss on top and said "glad to hear a compliment these days" with the biggest smile. And took off downstairs. It all took less than a minute.

Lovely man.

ImSteveMcDonald · 30/08/2022 12:51

Tom Allen… really funny, beautifully dressed, took my arm as we walked through the building! Loved him!

@TheClockEnd This has made me so happy as I love to think he is like this in real life, it would be so disappointing if he wasn't. Liam from Bake Off on the other hand, what a gobshite. One of the Hairy Bikers was also a bit of a don't you know who I am dick, ironically I can't remember which one it was Grin

Whataboutno · 30/08/2022 12:51

Ah I love Tom Allen! I haven't met anyone exciting but saw Martin Freeman twice in the same week, I didn't say hello as I've heard he is grumpy!

Who is Christian Bale?

He is an actor with a funny mouth.

ImSteveMcDonald · 30/08/2022 12:48

I always get Christian Bale confused with Gareth Bale.

well they're both Welsh Bales.

Ostryga · 30/08/2022 12:53

Caroline Flack was awful to me when I was a waitress. She’d come in for Mother’s Day lunch with a big group of her family (who were absolutely lovely!) but she was rude and made one of my colleagues cry! And for no reason, it was awful.

Bill Bryson on the other hand - most genuine, lovely man I’ve ever met. He was also having lunch and I asked him for an autograph and he didn’t mind a bit. Chatted to me about his books etc. I was always a huge fan and that has always stayed with me!

SunnyD44 · 30/08/2022 12:22

Jess Glynne. Awful. As were her ‘people’.
Diva demands and rudeness all round.

Really surprised at this!
I always thought she’d be someone who was down to Earth but I always wondered how come she’s not more famous than she is - perhaps that’s why.

I’ve always disliked the Galliger brothers, they think they’re Gods so I’m not surprised by their behaviour.

Really? I’ve read a few things about her

CornishGem1975 · 30/08/2022 12:55

@chattp Adam Woodyatt is a miserable fucker isn't he.

MassiveSalad22 · 30/08/2022 12:38

Wow I just googled Christian Bale and he doesn't look how I imagined. I DREAM of someone saying 'Don't you know who I am?' and me going, 'er, no?' 😁

He's beautiful but obviously a rude arse now I've met him!

Who wants their photo taken after being on a flight though?!

I've heard that he lives in Malaga now and can be see around quite easily as it's not a big place. He sounds charming!

sausagepastapot · 30/08/2022 12:58

Ashley Banjo doesn't accept people talking to him.

Relevanceiskey · 30/08/2022 12:59

My sister worked with his sister in Virgin Active in Poole. Apparently he wasn't in contact with any of his family and reading a couple of these comments I can see why....

OMG! I hope I never get to meet him; what a knob.

I'm surprised as he always sounds really hungover and fed up on his podcast 'Like Minded Friends'

I love these threads but sadly I’ve never encountered anyone of note

Redqueenheart · 30/08/2022 13:03

Esther Rantzen. Absolutely horrible woman. Only nice when on camera...

GucciBear · 30/08/2022 13:03

Sharron Davies. Very full of her own importance and extremely rude when I met her at a local riding school.

OldTinHat · 30/08/2022 13:04

Christopher Timothy. Vile man, so very rude.

Helen Skelton. An absolute darling and was so kind to my starstruck sons!

Yes, you'd wonder how he gets away with all his twattery. He's a good actor sure, but hardly a major star, and your average person wouldn't know him from Adam if he walked past them on the street. If he were a woman, I suspect his diva antics would never be tolerated.

xippo · 30/08/2022 13:05

Trinny, vile, vile, vile woman.
elle mcphearson, same

saraclara · 30/08/2022 13:06

I wouldn't complain about any celebrity who didn't react to their name being called out, or who didn't want their photo taken.

Can you imagine how awful it must be to not be able to just get I with your life, go to the shops, catch a flight, without having to acknowledge everyone who recognises you, and have to interrupt everything you're doing to pose for a photo 20 times (probably more) a day?

I find airports really stressful and someone asking me for a photo when I'm trying to watch for my bag would be REALLY irritating.

I world never deliberately ask anything of a celebrity getting on with their day-to-day private life. It's rude

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 30/08/2022 13:07

Naga Munchetty was AWFUL to my DH when she interviewed him. He’s a nice guy, save the world type job, absolutely no reason to be a complete arse when the cameras weren’t rolling.

glad to hear of the lovely footballers in particular I think they can get a bad rap and some of them are so fab, really inspiring for young fans.
