Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

1000 replies

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

Catherine Zeta Jones had very little time for regular types back in her Darling Buds days. Very off with people and kept looking like there was a bad smell if anyone came near.

David Jason in the other hand was an absolute sweetheart.

FatOaf · 30/08/2022 13:21

Who is Gareth Eriksen?

I should have known that would misfire before I posted it.

If I have to explain it, it isn't funny. Come to think of it, it wouldn't have been funny even if I didn't have to explain it.

BisonGrassVodka · 30/08/2022 13:21

Many years ago I was once asked to take Radio 1 DJ Simon Bates to a train station after a gig at a night club, he got in, I said, "good evening, how was your night"? he said nothing, not a peep from him. A few minutes later, I asked him if this was his first visit to the night club he'd done a gig in, he replied, "shut up, drive the taxi and get your F***g toe down, I don't want to my my train".

What a pleasant chap.

midsomermurderess · 30/08/2022 13:22

Who’s Jess Glynne??!!! 😉

My mates kids got friendly with John Terrys children. They were invited over for a children party. There were two separate bits of the party. One for the non-celeb types children and their parents one for the celebrity parents and their children and they were kept apart by a red rope. No one was allowed in the house either.

Blimey. 🫣🤣

Northernsoullover · 30/08/2022 13:24

I'd love to meet Bill Bryson. I've not met many big celebrities. I do bump into Gabby Logan from time to time in a place I work in. She always says hello and seems lovely.

bewilderedhedgehog · 30/08/2022 13:24

Thank you for sharing the clip of Christian Bale. Appalling. I won't watch anything else that he is in after seeing that!

Who is Christian Bale?

He's a footballer

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 30/08/2022 13:25

Brian Clough, awful, drunk leery and rude. When my Dad tried to move us away he started ranting on about "don't you know who I am?". My Dad said no and carried on ushering the kids away from the scary drunk, then he started telling everyone that he's Brian Clough.

My Mum met him a few years later via work and said that he stank, was rude, drunk and groped any woman within grabbing distance.

CornishGem1975 · 30/08/2022 13:25

@Ostryga We're not allowed to say anything bad about Caroline Flack now but I know somebody who worked with her on Love Island and she said she was an utter bitch, total diva, thought she was the star of the show.

James Martin is a massive arrogant cock.

The woman who places Stacey on Gavin & Stacey, can't remember her name but she did not come across well when I met her in person.

Patsy Palmer is lovely, really down to earth.

David Beckham - bumped into him randomly and he was happy to stop for photos.

That's hilarious. Awful and tacky and gross. But hilarious.

He's a footballer

Are you sure?

NellieJean · 30/08/2022 13:29

Gareth Eriksen is the bastard love child of Gareth Bale, Christian Bales younger brother and Sven Goran Eriksen the former England manager. I hope that’s cleared that up.

queenofthewild · 30/08/2022 13:29

Paul O'Grady. Wouldn't actually speak to me. Spoke via an assistant. And I had to reply via the assistant. Like I didn't have ears to hear what he was saying, or I spoke in tongues and needed a translator. Just unnecessary and ridiculous.

Victoria Beckham. Moody and grumpy. The boys were absolute sweethearts and very polite though.

Edith Bowman. At an awards event. She was there to present an award. Got up on stage. Did her bit. Then sat in the audience and chatted all through the rest of the event, even the part dedicated to the lifetime achievements of a particularly outstanding individual.

Jason Donovan is a sweetheart (and smells lovely).

John Terry. Ugh. Maybe he didn't want you to see him weeing in a glass before asking you to clean up. Vile man.

Who is Christian Bale?

One of those American cheps who perform in moving pictures, m'lud.

Except he's actually British. His family live in Bournemouth.

He allegedly assaulted his mother after she bad mouthed his wife, and to be honest, from what I hear from mutual acquaintances, he and his mother are cut from the same cloth.

I've been lucky with the celebrities I've met to be honest., but the Hairy Bikers get the prize for niceness.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 30/08/2022 13:31

Christian bale is not a footballer that’s Gareth Bale. I’d never heard of the actor guy until this thread either.

ChangedNane11 · 30/08/2022 13:31

amazing to read some of these. I’m really bad at recognising people. I’ve literally walked past my sister and not recognised her in the past! So I’ve probably met a few but didn’t realise they were famous.

fantasmasgoria1 · 30/08/2022 13:32

Had to Google Brix Smith.

Louise0701 · 30/08/2022 13:33

@sausagepastapot really? I had a completely different experience. Very kind and genuine

Redbone · 30/08/2022 13:34

I must be lucky, if boring, but every celeb I’ve ever met has been absolutely lovely. Kevin Keegan, Sue Barker, Russell Brand, Mary Berry, Paul Daniels to name but a few. Sue Barker was particularly sweet going into the changing rooms to get a load of autographs from tennis stars when I was about 12.

Surely saying you don't know who Christian Bale is, is a bit like saying you don't know who George Cloney is, or Leonardo DiCaprio?

Good one!

QuebecBagnet · 30/08/2022 13:42

I don’t think Christian Bale is anywhere near Clooney or Leonardo league. I haven’t seen a single Christian Bale film apart from Empire of the Sun. I wouldn’t recognise him if I fell over him

Who is Christian Bale?

He's the hero Gotham deserves but not the one it needs right now...
