I’m relatively new to Mumsnet (18 months ish). After reading some absolute pearlers today re eating out and managing to make left over toddler meals last 2 days, I’m intrigued to know what are the stand out posts you remember.

Ive read classics but I’m after one liners that made you properly laugh.

Not quite a one liner but I remember when someone's phone went wrong, and kept posting multiple times in the middle of posts. So you'd have whole pages of:

"Fu" x18
"c" x 7
"k my" x39
"phone has gone wrong" x 23
"ag I" x 4
"gi" x10
"ve up" x12

Doesn't sound that funny writing it down, but it did make me laugh at the time.

Problem with a lot of good one lines is that people try and repeat it and they stop being funny. "Is she on glue?" was amusing the first time. It was boring by the third time.

A poster was on a train when she spied a celebrity but could t remember their name.

From the description some wag came up with ‘Rasta Mouse.’

It was actually Sharleen Spiteri. I think the thread is in classics.

I seen one not long back where someone commented on how they wasn't sure wearing headphones themselves stopped the baby from hearing loud noises. The baby being in the belly may I add 😂😂😂

icelollycraving · 16/04/2022 22:54

Woof to you lady.

Is there an echo in here🤣

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 16/04/2022 23:06

Is that you, UCM?
I rarely piss myself laughing at a comment, but that was excellent.

Brightrainbow · 16/04/2022 23:11

I read one about how the brother and sil had taken the utter piss over their wedding
Expecting the op to spend more and more money on their big day only to treat her like shit on their shoe on the day
The winning line was 'so I stole their wedding cake, jumped into a taxi and fucked off home-kids ate it the next day for breakfast'
I can just see b&g's faces when they noticed their big expensive cake had walked out of the door!

VyeBrator · 16/04/2022 23:14

"I'd rather shit in my hands and clap"

Partyatnumber10 · 16/04/2022 23:17

It's tricky because without context they're not the same but:

"Paul...is that you?" From the thread where a poster had accidentally covered a pigeon In paint.

Also, a thread with a brilliant typo where the OP was talking about a disagreement with a colleague and said "I turned around and urinated in my chair"
It turned into a very funny thread including...
"Was that the best way to get her attention? Next time try clearing your throat"

Sux2buthen · 16/04/2022 23:21

This. I screengrabbed it years ago, I can't remember why exactly it was said or if it was in reply to me but it was about an overreaction to a pleasantry or something and it made me genuinely laugh a lot

“Snapped and farted”

Not because it was actually funny, but just so bizarre!

SecretVictoria · 16/04/2022 23:30

The one today about the pub meals and one poster saying it should be “legally required” for food places to do small portions.

One a few years ago, when I had my old user name. OP had an ex that was living off grid and caught and steamed a badger (near the British Museum IIRC) and fed it to her kids.

indiesearcher · 16/04/2022 23:40

In the fatballs thread, which is a classic in itself, some of the lines the OP came out with were hilarious.

Also some of the camping threads (reasons not to go), are very funny indeed.

excelledyourself · 16/04/2022 23:43

When the drama series about Dennis Nielsen was showing and someone on the thread got their Tennant's mixed up.

I just kept randomly pissing myself at that imagery for the rest of the night.

OMG no word of a lie, I actually bought a PSB tour ticket earlier today!
Smidgy · 16/04/2022 23:51

"The cat that licked the flaps" 🤣 It was a thread a year or so ago about a woman who was being job interviewed and she said this line in response to something the interviewer had said. I literally cried with laughter whilst reading the thread, and it's making me crack up now just thinking about it 🤣

User478 · 16/04/2022 23:53

The lady who was mortified that she had walked round town all day with her labia (label) sticking out and no one had told her!

The mum who told their children they could have as much custard as they wanted by saying "Fill your boots"

TheGirlWhoLived · 16/04/2022 23:53

Nah it’s got to be can you get it off with sex lube and a fish slice?

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 16/04/2022 23:55

“Your minge” for me as well. Tragic that it’s gone Grin (IIRC the poster later needed to have MN delete all her posts for unrelated reasons)

Didn't that turn out to be bollocks?
