Boris has been fined - Tory voters, should he go?

NewYorker80 · 12/04/2022 13:43

Both Johnson and Sunak have received fines for the lockdown parties. No further details as yet.

Do any Conservative voters here think Boris should resign?

He should resign but I think he's the best of a bad bunch (and of course he wouldn't resign). Not sure if there is a better alternative unfortunately.

littledrummergirl · 13/04/2022 18:52

To be fair I always think of Johnson as blow job. Led by his dick, no brains needed.

Happygirl79 · 13/04/2022 18:53

@Happygirl79

We will have to agree to disagree I'm afraid

@lightisnotwhite I take your point but ‘the end justifies the means’ argument is somewhat lacking here.

What de Pfeffel (I’m trying it out) is missing is a list of ‘hits’ that justifies his actions is countered by a fairly extensive list of god awful ‘misses’. It’s possible that his judgement just isn’t up to taking the kinds of risks that would justify labelling him as a successful maverick wouldn’t you say?

There are over 300 Tory MPs. Are you seriously saying none of them would be any better?
ancientgran · 13/04/2022 18:56

[quote JaniieJones]-Just imagine if a Hospital trust had seen 50 plus FPN issued for parties held for staff and the directors....?'

I can't imagine anyone reporting staff at a hospital for eating cake in an office for 10mins.

It's all very ott and ridiculous

ClaireOakHun · 13/04/2022 19:06

@Blossomtoes Completely aware there are over 300 MP's but the vast majority of those would not even be in the running to replace Boris. The favourite to replace him would now be Secretary of State Liz Truss after Sunak has also been fined. Liz Truss famously changed her stance on Brexit, don't think she would do a better job, seems to sit on the fence on a number of matters.

Although completely agree that Boris is far from what is needed for PM and if he had morals, he would resign.

Blossomtoes · 13/04/2022 19:09

If he had morals he wouldn’t need to.

Saucery · 13/04/2022 19:18

Having a field makes you posh? Wish I could have told my grandad that. He had a couple of fields. Working class through and through.

Tugendhat and Hunt both rising in the leadership polling. Not a fan of either really, but both immensely more preferable to Johnson.

Is that sort of talk necessary?
DuncinToffee · 13/04/2022 19:51

Craig Whittaker, Tory Mp for Calder Valley, has said Johnson and Sunak should resign

Peregrina · 13/04/2022 20:00

Still who is Craig Whittaker? Other than perhaps a Red Wall Tory nervously eyeing his prospects for retaining his seat?

There are quite a few of those with tiny majorities.
derxa · 13/04/2022 20:07

Ukraine - he won't even have known where it was until the Photo Op presented itself. Oh come now he's an educated man despite your hatred of him. I don't particularly like BJ and wish he would go but I do believe he's well read and has a good grasp of history and geography.

No he's not a red wall Tory, that area/village is strictly cons. A posh outcrop.

The same could be said of Liz Truss, yet despite being FS, she chose to tell Lavrov that Rostov was a disputed area & part of Ukraine.

Pre invasion, certainly pre Russian troop build up, i doubt he or anyone else in Govt had a clue where Ukraine was.

Blossomtoes · 13/04/2022 20:17

Calder Valley was Labour until 2010.

derxa · 13/04/2022 20:17

I thought it quite accurate. Especially when people just write BJ.

Fine. You continue with your nastiness
JammyThing · 13/04/2022 20:25

Boris Johnson hasn't lied and cheated to get what he wants??

I've heard it all now.

Really? He studied Classics, ancient literature and classical philosophy.... no modern history... Ukraine was first formed after the Russian revolution.

..and there is no need to tell me my opinion is nonsense is there?

Its all conjecture, we don't know whether he does or not but based on his education, work and previous behavior, there is no reason to suggest he has a keen knowledge of European geography.

I can't imagine anyone reporting staff at a hospital for eating cake in an office for 10mins.

In BoJo's case (I didn't say Bozo), it was specifically 9 minutes, apparently he had a timer. And the cake was socially distancing in it's tupperwarere, tbf.

Crudely put but accurate, BJ has 7? 8? kids from at least 4 different partners... not to mention numerous affairs.

What else do you call it? anyone here be proud of their son behaved like this?
