Boris has been fined - Tory voters, should he go?

NewYorker80 · 12/04/2022 13:43

Both Johnson and Sunak have received fines for the lockdown parties. No further details as yet.

Do any Conservative voters here think Boris should resign?

Link to the story?
How have you come across such breaking news before it’s reported in the media?

flapjackfairy · 12/04/2022 13:46

I am not a Tory voter.
But he should but he won't !

Tontostitis · 12/04/2022 13:46

Nope he's still the best of a very bad bunch

The bbc reported it about 5 mins ago.
Abraxan · 12/04/2022 13:50

Of course he should go after being found guilty of breaking rules his own party set and then lying about it constantly.

Will he go though? Highly unlikely. He just doesn't care.

BBC reported it 7 mins ago, Sky followed d shortly after
SickAndTiredAgain · 12/04/2022 13:51

Did I miss the stories about Sunak, or did he manage to keep his involvement pretty quiet? I didn’t think he’d really been reported to be involved with the parties? He did keep awfully quiet about it all though.

AlexaShutUp · 12/04/2022 13:51

Not a tory voter but of course he should resign.

Frankly, we need a general election now.

NewYorker80 · 12/04/2022 13:51

@JemimaTiggywinkle don't worry I'm not a journo - it was on Radio 4!

He should go. But I don't think he will. Its just a big joke to them all

Shitzngiggles · 12/04/2022 13:52

The story is in the media. Surely the fact he's been fined means he was lying about it so that must mean he has to go?

painauraisin · 12/04/2022 13:52

Of course not, don't you know there's a war on?There are bigger things to worry about!

Sorry, just getting in first. Of course he should go but he won't.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 12/04/2022 13:52

I'm not sure how he can get away with not going but I'm sure he'll find a way somehow!

That's my view too. I am interested if Tory voters think this.

I don't think he'll go. Nadine Dorries will say it's pathetic of people to go on about this when he's doing his level best to solve the war in Ukraine. Liz Truss likewise. And all the rest of them currently practicing saying 'on the big stuff, he got it right' for countless interviews over coming days.

SunbathingDragon · 12/04/2022 13:53

Yes they should both go but I don’t think they will. It’s not as if there is anyone decent lined up to replace either of them so that will make their attempts to stay on be much more likely to succeed.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 12/04/2022 13:53

Oops my apologies, I must be on a satellite delay.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 13:53

Course he should.

Will he? No.

I imagine he knew this was about to happen hence his visit to Zelenskyy. There's nothing like a photo op.
(I will temper that with some of his actions in connection with Ukraine have been good but it doesn't take away from the fact he will do literally anything to stay PM)

He's a charlatan

TibetanTerrah · 12/04/2022 13:57

Its terrible that my first thought was "he has to go" followed immediately by "but who would replace him that wouldn't be as bad or worse..."

ENoeuf · 12/04/2022 13:58

Rishi is more likely to go, citing his family and unwanted attention on his wife. Johnson is an utterly shameless chancer who has got by through charisma and an air of arrogance, plus a willingness to let allies break any rule they don’t like.

TooBigForMyBoots · 12/04/2022 13:58

Of course he should go. He should have gone a long time ago, but Tory voters want him, particularly New Conservatives. I think sunk-cost fallacy is at play.

Yup, I've had that thought a few times too! British politics is a waking nightmare!
Roussette · 12/04/2022 14:01

I know he has got charisma for some peope, but that part of my brain must be missing because I just don't get it!
He looks a mess all the time, he has a permanent sneering smirk on his face, I imagine (I don't know) that he's lazy, and not a very nice person. Surely the amiable buffoon charisma gene is boring for people now? Hasn't he worn it out?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/04/2022 14:02

Not a Tory voter but.l I feel the two statements below are pretty accurate.

They should go.
They won't go.
