We’ve moved near an Aldi (I don’t drive so have to walk to do grocery shopping) and I’m besides myself with excitement.

Can you tell me your top buys if you shop there? I’ve heard good things about the chocolate…

Scones (with raisons) and clotted cream Grin

HRTQueen · 10/03/2022 22:08

We tried the hash browns. Ds liked them
I wasn’t so keen

And the oily smell was horrible (seems to linger)

The new Sparkling water flavours are really nice. I think one for example is white grape. They all have different coloured caps. All sugar free, really refreshing!

Magnum premium washing up liquid - super concentrated, better than fairy platinum and half the price!

Nevermindthefragglerocks · 13/03/2022 17:02

Also - they have Abu blue bath which smells identical to Sanctuary Spa range from Boots for only £1.29!!

Billandben444 · 14/03/2022 10:12

Went in yesterday to try some of the favourites but many didn't seem to be there. I did get though 2 bunches of beautiful peach/pink roses at £2.29 a pop - they are absolutely beautiful and all seem to be opening this morning.

Furries · 14/03/2022 11:26

Cheesy hash browns in the frozen section.

BIWI · 14/03/2022 11:29

Yes @Billandben444 I've always found their flowers to be lovely - and they seem to last for ages as well.

CityCommuter · 14/03/2022 11:35

@BingBangB0ng Aldi's pitta bread and houmous are really nice as well as their Italian balsamic vinegar... also their fruit and veg is always fresh due to high turnover...

Macinae · 08/09/2022 00:11

I know this thread is old but I have to add for any lurkers like me...

West Country butter
Vanilla custard tear and share brioche loaf
Knoppers nutty bars
Titan and Racer bars (dupes of Mars and snickers respectively)
Fresh pizzas and garlic bread
Marshmallow brownie mini bites (in the tub)
Frozen hash browns
Fresh fishcakes
Cheeses
Dips
Their version of Jacobs cream crackers
Fresh pressed apple juice not from concentrate
Tinned tomatoes for cooking sauces
Fruit and veg is fine in my experience

Some examples of things I'm happy to buy at aldi due to being cheaper but no compromise on quality. Admittedly I'm fussier with fresh meat.

Quirrelsotherface · 08/09/2022 05:29

Steamed veg packs, salmon Wellington, baked potatoes, chocolate cheesecake, coconut mochi (all from freezer), protein puddings, mini pancakes, torchon ham, porridge sachets and pots, microwave rice, salmon, prawns. Mini frittata, halkidiki olives (stuffed with garlic and red pepper).

Not keen on the chicken, which always looks and tastes a bit wan.

Quirrelsotherface · 08/09/2022 05:31

Oh their cartons of fresh juice and large smoothie bottles..£1 something and excellent

Paleshelter · 09/09/2022 22:21

DH loves the Dolce Gusto coffee dupes, the Americano ones.
Malted bloomer bread.
I bought the special lemon sponge roll and nearly ate the whole lot in one go, delicious!
Frozen hot and spicy chicken strips
Frozen salt and pepper or cajun spiced chips.

mowglika · 09/09/2022 23:42

Oo loads

frozen jumbo prawns
honey soaked seeded bloomer
Specially selected croissants
frozen garlic bread
thick flavoured yoghurts
coconut Greek yoghurt
Their cheese selection
brioche burger and hot dog buns, occasionally they do tiny slider brioche buns too
mint ice cream - doesn’t taste like toothpaste like some I’ve had from regular supermarkets
own brand doritoes
Shelled pistachios are crunchy and well salted, really yummy
their premium nappies - best on the market! Lidl premium come a close second but they are a bit smaller in fit

and so on.. I find the fruit and veg perfectly fine and their specially selected black grapes are sweet and juicy
