We’ve moved near an Aldi (I don’t drive so have to walk to do grocery shopping) and I’m besides myself with excitement.

Can you tell me your top buys if you shop there? I’ve heard good things about the chocolate…

OP posts:

Maple syrup and also last time I was there maple syrup butter.

sleaf · 08/03/2022 19:09

Maison Rouge Claret Wine

Carpediem15 · 08/03/2022 19:13

Sourdough base pizza from the fridge.
Large tub of no oil added Peanut Butter
Cans of chopped tomatoes.

mrsbitaly · 08/03/2022 19:20

In the frozen section they have sweet chilli cod fish cakes. I'm not usually a fan of fishcakes but these were lovely.

PurpleDaisies · 08/03/2022 19:27

We really like the frozen skin on fries. I’m fussy with chips and there’s a high bar to pass to get bought regularly-these are great.

Almat coffee is brilliant.

Jem57 · 08/03/2022 19:28

Caviar face products,just fab

Veryverysadandold · 08/03/2022 19:40

Omg if they have any of the coco and eve hair mask set dupes snap it up- wish I'd bulk bought. The only thing that's ever made my hair better and I've tried olaplex etc. Also the Q10 day cream with spf is great and smells lovely.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 08/03/2022 19:43

Their scented candles, tomato and mascapone stir in pasta sauce, fresh pizzas, fresh filled ravioli and salmon Wellington

OrDis · 08/03/2022 19:44

The fishcakes! Salmon and chorizo are a fave! Also bags of frozen Paella! So flippin easy and delicious!

BeaLola · 08/03/2022 19:50

We haven't had much that we dislike but particular favourites are:

4 frozen sausage rolls
Ice cream
Brioche rolls
Chocolate
Their fruit pastilles - DS14 fave
Tonic water like feever tree
Rose wine
Cheapest place to buy Asti Spumante £4:99 which my Dad likes
They do these frozen mango cocktails in a pouch - in the summer when it's hot i like these (I'm not keen on the other flavours)
Sun protection oil - just as good as Nivea one imo
Frozen prawns
"Jo Malone " room sprays or the line and basil hand wash
Manchego
Chorizo slices
The more expensive hash browns - these are my current favourite
DS likes their frozen strudel
And so many things - the only problem is often you go back and it's not stocked / out of stock

Mossstitch · 08/03/2022 20:00

Lots of things are equal quality but much cheaper than other supermarkets but I don't really rate the meat, tend to get that from M & S or local butcher, it's very personal you just have to try things. My top buys though are:-
Peanut butter
Bread flour and yeast
Part baked baguettes (half the price of asda and tesco and taste better)
Frozen sliced peppers (make Pasta sauces ect from scratch with passata and these are so convenient and cheap)
Bags of 8 croissants for 99p
Full fat cream cheese
Salted crackers in tall black box which I just eat as they are and once opened cannot stop!
Tuna chunks in sunflower oil
Passata in tetrapak about 35p
Quilted toilet rolls
0% lager
Organic milk, much cheaper than anywhere else.
Own version hoola hoops (better than original)
Skin on frozen fries

52andblue · 08/03/2022 20:05

Chocolate. Coffee. Cheese. Butter. Cold meats. Fresh meat. Premium range. Toiletries. Gin. Wine (esp organic). Fruit & veg depends on store imo. Toiletries. Make up. Central aisle = bargains (i have bought a laptop, and a TV in last 3 years - very long warranty & helpful if issues. My Aldi desktop from 2012 is still happily working. ENJOY!

HRTQueen · 08/03/2022 20:11

I like most things what is particularly good:

Salmon en croute it’s great value and better than others I’ve had

chocolate especially the milk chocolate one with hazelnuts

Whole peanuts peanut better

Apple and caramel sponge pudding

Frozen fish

Cheeses and hams

Greek yogurt

Red wine from Portugal (can’t remember what it’s called)

Spreadable butter and the sea salt butter

I do find the veg tends to go off quicker. I had. Found the free range chicken to be very good (it’s too expensive in other shops)

Jem57 · 08/03/2022 20:13

Oh forgot Lacura sun lotion, absolutely great for £2,Which Best Buy,love it.

Popsicle30 · 08/03/2022 20:17

Skin on fries frozen chips
Flavoured sparkling water
Antibacterial wipes
Large blast kitchen roll
Daily moisturiser Q10
Norpak butter
Their own brand shreddies and weetabix
Kavanaghs organic porridge oats
Large fresh orange juice

theoctoalert · 08/03/2022 20:19

I love aldi!
The fever tree tonic dupe is great

EvilPea · 08/03/2022 20:24

Own brand Pringles. They’ve changed the recipe. Brilliant and 87p!!

Gherkingreen · 08/03/2022 20:31

I've been an Aldi convert for years but recently someone on here recommended the coconut Greek yoghurt which I hadn't even noticed before. It's AMAZING!
The only things I buy from Tesco or independent shops etc are Ribena/Vimto, Heinz beans and decent sourdough bread. Everything else from Aldi is great.

gonetogroundnow · 08/03/2022 20:31

Fizzy fleur de prairie rose wine. Absolutely banging, our household is fuelled by it!

FionnulaTheCooler · 08/03/2022 20:34

The Carlos takeaway pizzas, garlic bread and garlic dip are all good. Aldi chilled chicken kievs are the best I've tasted, so garlicky. The cereal is good, I like the cinnamon chip one and the chocolate hazelnut pillows. My personal favourite is the chocolate marshmallow brownie bomb bites in a tub in the bakery bit.

Friendofdennis · 08/03/2022 20:35

I can’t remember whether the following products are Aldi or Lidl but they are good::
Spanish cheese wrapped in chorizo (half the price of the identical product in M and S )
Lemon posset in glass jar
Chocolate pots
Lemon pots also in glass jar
French ham
Cream cheese
Smoked cheese
Chorizo
Fruit and veg
Luxury Yorkshire puddings
Top of the range sourdough pizzas
Coffee and walnut cake
Dark or milk chocolate stem ginger biscuits
Their posh crisps
Pulled pork
Posh coffee
Beef slices
Toffee roulade
Just try it out and have fun

BeaLola · 08/03/2022 20:41

Can someone take a pic of the butter with crystals please - never seen this in ours , thanks

HRTQueen · 08/03/2022 20:44

And the brioche chocolate tear and share loaf (easy to forget the sharing bit)

It’s lovely warmed up ds has it for pudding (if not hidden well) with cream or custard

honeyfox · 08/03/2022 20:47

The Deluxe frozen chunky chips.
The Ravioli in the chilled aisle.
The Deluxe fish cakes.

There's lots of other nice things but those are what I go in for mainly. I actually don't really like their wine, I much prefer Lidl for wine.

HRTQueen · 08/03/2022 20:47

The butter with salt crystals
