What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

Ooh, just watched another episode of "These woods are haunted" a woman is chased by a skin walker in her back garden...not a normal back garden of suburbia of course, but one that backs on to woodland...I might have to re think my love of houses that back on to woodland, I really don't need to come face to face with a skin walker!

NewBootsAndRanty · 02/10/2022 14:34

@EmmaH2022 have you ever watched the series Fringe? Bit old now, but a scifi/X-Files slant to it, lots of Things In Forests (and elsewhere)..

I think it might be this one?

EmmaH2022 · 03/10/2022 17:45

Thanks
I’ll watch that
are people watching all these on YouTube?

EmmaH2022 · 04/10/2022 18:58

I tried to watch Fringe

only managed 5 minutes as I’m squeamish. Love a bit of spooky stuff but not gross stuff.

MyComputerLove · 12/02/2023 18:51

I stumbled on this thread while staying at a local hotel. The staff riled me right up with tales of the local goat man or skin walker or whatever it is. Coming up to its anniversary too.
Did anything ever happen afterwards?

Not all of Fringe is like this - admittedly there are some other gross moments, but it is SO worth it in general, it's worth persevering, there aren't so many like there are in the first episode IIRC (but, honestly, it was about 10 years ago I watched it now).

Sorry only just seeing this due to the bump! Also keen for any updates :)

Last week - just outside Daventry.

LynetteScavo · 16/02/2023 18:23

Every time I drive to Daventry or back I look out for "The Shuck" as I now call it. No sightings yet.

Gallanthus · 20/02/2023 18:18

I was thinking about this thread earlier and spotted it is 1 year old today. Happy anniversary goatman.

WisteriaLodge · 20/02/2023 21:38

I can't believe the Goatman thread is a year old! I wonder if there's been any more sightings?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/02/2023 22:16

@GirlInACountrySong , muntjac deer are titchy, aren’t they?

Gallanthus · 21/02/2023 08:01

Muntjac are yes. We have one that bunkers down in the corner of our garden under some hawthorn bushes.

WednesdaysPlaits · 21/02/2023 08:04

I’m looking at muntjac in the garden right now. About the size of a medium dog

LynetteScavo · 21/02/2023 20:38

Near Daventry there are larger rear though, I think.

MyComputerLove · 21/02/2023 20:40

@LynetteScavo What like massive Kardashians?

LynetteScavo · 21/02/2023 20:50

No, they are nicer than the Kardashians.

There are big deerin Badby Woods. I'm asking DH where the big dear are and he just keeps saying "Dear, oh dear" which is not at all helpful. But I'm sure there are a lot of big deer in Northamptonshire.
