What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

Click. On. It.

You know you want to. Or it will fester in your mind and you will lay restless tonight. This thing roams the night, looking for restless souls. It will pull your duvet off unless you....Click. On. It.

Any of you lot watch "These woods are haunted"? It will scare the bejesus out of you, lots of strange creatures in American forests, I'd never go camping there!

I think I might have seen a couple people f episodes on YouTube

a man and his son who saw something out in their usual fishing spot
a particularly great one where a couple went to investigate a sort of house in the woods and had to run away

does that sound like it?

Yes that's the one! Even the opening theme tune is scary! The episode that freaked me out was the Wisconsin Dogman..

I think that one wasn’t on YouTube and not sure where it is. I have heard of it. I tried to watch more but the over excited narration style put me off. I think they have different narrators and the ones I mentioned were very well told but the others I tried to watch were OTT
and hysterical.

Not sure which one you're watching but I don't recall over excited narration on any episode? Just witnesses telling their story. Still good though!

Not read it but I probably will, I love things like that, although I'm hoping the book is more about actual beasts rather than ghosts.

Maybe there's ghosts of beasts! Which puts a whole new slant on what OP saw...

Oh yes, that'll be it - the ghost of an alpaca, forever doomed to roam within five fields of the farm of its origin in a spooky replication of exactly how they behave when in the mortal realm.

@EmmaH2022 I have that book! Alas, all the stories are fiction (which I didn't realise at the time). Worth a read though.

Probably someone’s blow up Santa they didn’t take down after Christmas that the storm stole!

This made me giggle...we shoved ours in the bin last year after he gave up working, so perhaps he has risen again (although we don't live in the midlands!)

Ah, thanks. I will still read it but I'd love a non fiction version....whatever than entails....!

Hi allI tried asking on other threads

I'm sure someone on MN said there is a Netflix drama about creatures, possibly supernatuural, in a forest. Maybe not English language? I have looked on Netflix and can't find any matches. Thought someone on here might know. Thanks!

I have had a revelation. On the Relationship board mostly at weekends many posters talk of their DPs or DHs going missing for a few hours. Some are drinking at mates houses, some go back to the cash point to stay out longer, some are simply having an affair. On the famed bell-shaped curve, the majority will fit into this category, but we know the curve tapers down to encapsulate the most very improbable at the margin. As the location is in the middle of nowhere we can rule out cash points and drinking bars. We can rule out tall thin men from Daventry with goaty beards wandering about late at night looking for somewhere to go. The explanation must lay at the margin. It must be the Chipping Warden Chupacabra.

Qisk

do you mean that these men morph into creatures of the witching hour of night? Or that they are lured by chupacabras to do things in their other world for a few hours?

Report
Qisk · 02/10/2022 10:44

@EmmaH2022 I think the missing men turning into strange creatures at night has some precedent. The film Ladyhawke has a good explanation. Then there are the big cat sightings across the UK. All very plausible. 😂

Qisk if the bug cats turn out to be shapeshifting blokes, I'd be really disappointed.
