What's the best peanut butter?

After years of buying bog standard supermarket cheapest peanut butter, I bought some Meridian last week and wow it is soooo good. It's accidentally picked up almond butter, so then bought chunky peanut butter. Can't believe I've been missing out on this stuff.

What's the best peanut butter, what shall I try next?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Carleys nut butters, especially their Rainforest Crunch.

Carleys and Meridian are both good. Biona especially with chilli) and Whole Earth also decent nut butters.

On the whole with nut butters you get what you pay for - cheaper brands tend to have sugar and palm oils to bulk them out. Good nut butters have nuts ground coarse or fine with nothing else needed.

Whole earth smooth - with butter on toast… with salt sprinkled on top. Blush

Sunpat has peanut oil it doesn't list palm oil, I just checked my jar. However it also has "stabiliser" and that could be anything.

It’s palm oil.

I thought it probably was, as there was a suspicious lack of any announcements of "palm oil free" anywhere on the jar.

My local refill jar shop (you know - the ones where you can buy refills for pasta, dried lentils etc) had a peanut butter machine - 100% peanuts, ground up and deposited in the jar of your choice. Delicious!

Whole earth organic

I don’t know what Aldi is duping but their more expensive jars (no palm oil) are delicious. I’m avoiding their big tubs as I’m the only one who likes it in our house.

Meridien or Whole Foods. Whatever is available in the supermarket 100% peanut, smooth Wink
