What's the best peanut butter?

After years of buying bog standard supermarket cheapest peanut butter, I bought some Meridian last week and wow it is soooo good. It's accidentally picked up almond butter, so then bought chunky peanut butter. Can't believe I've been missing out on this stuff.

What's the best peanut butter, what shall I try next?

Always get peanut butter stored in glass jar. I think they preserve better and taste better too. Also check to see if they have used sugar Caine instead of sugar. Massive difference in taste.

Got any evidence for that claim @RustyBear? My understanding was that the advice has changed.

I'm sitting here enjoying my French butter with sea salt crystals because it's delicious

SunshineOnKeith · 31/01/2022 19:57

@RustyBear

Hardly ‘lecturing’ 😁 And it certainly wasn’t aimed at you personally. Anyway, it’s really not worth an argument.
And yet here you are, many posts later... Confused

Seconded on m&s maple and pecan !!!! Expensive but omg !

CoffeeChocolateWine · 02/02/2022 14:38

@ouch321, I like to smother slices of apple with peanut butter. It’s my go-to snack! My entire family also love peanut butter smoothies…especially popular with my DD who doesn’t like breakfast. I never have it in sandwiches or on toast. I find it too dry.

I've just googled this because it sounds delish...but it seems to have been discontinued Sad

Skippy!
Its cancer in a jar but my god, is it glorious! I’m certain the peanuts are sourced from Three Mile Island.

Growbean · 02/02/2022 14:57

Koeze, although it is expensive.

Calling my own grammar police…
It’s cancer in a jar.

Well according to my 16 year old, who would have lived on the stuff if I'd have allowed him, Whole Earth organic smooth. Pip n nut and skippy are good contenders too. Recently bought the Whole Earth Chocolate peanut butter, not one that went down well. Thinking of sneaking it in some muffins.

Marmelace · 02/02/2022 15:17

That's one I've not come across. I need to try it now.
Madge55 · 03/02/2022 03:15

StrychnineIntheSandwiches, I thought it may have been discontinued haven't been able to get it recently! Hate it when they do this ! An absolute disaster. It was delicious.

Notcontent · 03/02/2022 08:12

Skippy and other similar ones are full of hydrogenated palm oil and sugar.

Cookerhood · 03/02/2022 08:45

And soooo delicious! (I do stop myself from buying it!)
UnaOfStormhold · 03/02/2022 08:47

Meridian rich roast - can't get enough of the stuff. Yes you need to stir it in but worth it for 100% peanut.

Fridafever · 03/02/2022 08:50

We usually get the Meridian one then on holiday we could only buy Sunpat and DS could not believe how delicious it was. He favours a salty palm oil one clearly.

Cookerhood · 03/02/2022 09:08

Sunpat doesn't have palm oil (it does have sugar though).

Cookerhood · 03/02/2022 09:09

Off the back of this thread I bought the Aldi one yesterday (regular one). I decided against the 1Kg tub just in case Grin

Norgie · 03/02/2022 09:14

The scooby snacks dog one from B&M.

Oh sorry for the misinformation yes must be the sugar he liked!

Fridafever · 03/02/2022 09:27

Oh hang on I retract my apology! Just checked and it does have palm oil.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 03/02/2022 09:43

Whole Earth crunchy here as well. I love it, slathered on buttered toast.

Has to be crunchy and has to be on buttered toast. I bought Meridian once and the kids wouldn’t touch it, it did have a more ‘gritty’ texture I think.

I’m just looking on Amazon - I didn’t realise there was so many different brands and types?! I kind of want to try the maple one mentioned above.
