Who HASN'T had Covid?

I haven't. I've been in work (out of home) since June 2nd 2020 and I work with 2-4 year olds, mostly covered in bodily fluids. Nearly everyone I know has had it, including 2 of my children. Dh, DS1 and I have not had it. I feel like it's a waiting game now.

My husband and I plus many of the teachers in my school. We had 1 in the academic year 2020-21 but this year we have had 8 so far this academic year. I am surprised we have that more.
I still wear a mask on work, sanitize desks after every lesson and make kids sanitise hands as they enter and leave my room.
I think it is more luck.

Deadringer · 10/11/2021 16:44

I actually know very few people who have had it, and none of my family have had it yet.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 10/11/2021 16:45

@Hen2018

I only knew 2 people who caught it in the whole of 2020.

In the last 3-4 months, I know of at least 50 people who tested positive. My son’s teacher (early 40s) died from it last month.

Gosh thats tragic. Did she have any underlying illness?

Me and none of my family or friends here in Italy. In the UK, 4 members of my family and two friends, they all live in a small rural village and I live in a big city, so I'm surprised!

TroysMammy · 10/11/2021 16:46

@MerryMarigold I was waiting for that. Contrary to popular belief on Mumsnet and the Daily Mail of course patients have been in the surgery since March 2020, quite a lot actually. Also the staff do go home to their families who mix with other people. Did you think we slept there?

LethargicActress · 10/11/2021 16:47

I haven’t, nor have any of my large family, or any of my friends. It’s been through the school I work at so I have a couple of colleagues and know a few families that have had it, but that’s it.

Iamhaunted · 10/11/2021 16:47

I haven’t - I am exclusively WFH and being really strict, I do have a DC in primary though.

I was in an antibody test group over the summer and that came back negative so fairly certain until that point I haven’t had it!

It’s ripping through DCs school again, a few have caught it over the half term and tested positive this week after attending school. Last term we had to bring bubbles back - so we shall see how long it takes for that to happen!

Our luck would be us catching it over Christmas

HazelandChacha · 10/11/2021 16:49

@Mrsjayy

How do you get antibody tests I've not heard anything about them?
I was invited by a study but you can get them lots of places now such as

onlinedoctor.superdrug.com/coronavirus-antibody-test.html

BeautifulBirds · 10/11/2021 16:49

Me, partner, baby, mum, dad, brother, nan, grandad, parents in law, grandparents in law, aunt, uncle, cousins x2,...

Moonface123 · 10/11/2021 16:51

l have worked in a busy supermarket throughout, neither myself or two teenage sons have jad it, as far as l am aware.
l know of only a handful of peopke who have had it.

Hm2020 · 10/11/2021 16:52

I really been contacted by track and trace twice one time to someone who I had prolonged contact with I’m double jabbed now but have not had it I was not double jabbed at that time I also have a child in school who’s bubbles burst numerous times still nothing.

Hm2020 · 10/11/2021 16:53

Oh I have lost 3 family members to it and know ridiculous amounts of people who have had it so not denying its existence or anything.

HazelandChacha · 10/11/2021 16:53

@MerryMarigold
Has anyone been into your surgery since March 2020?

The surgery I work in (& the one I attend) has been seeing patients throughout, apart from the first couple of weeks when safety procedures were being put in place, as have many others. There just isn’t always a clinical need to be seen face to face. It does seem some on MN belong to terrible surgeries though where people can’t even be examined for lumps!-appalling.

supadupapupascupa · 10/11/2021 16:55

No one in my family and only one group of DHs family have had it.
Surprised to be honest!

Silvercatowner · 10/11/2021 16:55

I haven't had it. I've never had flu either, and I rarely get colds, despite being considered to be immuno-surpressed. I do wonder if I am immune actually (*touches wood madly...)

Dogsaresomucheasier · 10/11/2021 16:57

Husband has had it but I didn’t catch it. I’ve been in workplace, (school,) throughout other than when I had to isolate as his close contact.
Son seemed unwell at one point during that period and had a PCR test, but that came back negative.

We are now all vaccinated and but I know a lot of people in that position who are still catching it, in one case quite badly.

A580Hojas · 10/11/2021 16:57

Iirc I only know of these people who have had covid - my dh, my son, my best friend, my daughter's boyfriend and his parents, 2 of my sons friends, my brother and his partner and child. 11 people out of everyone I know and two of those weren't confirmed as they were before testing outside of hospital was a thing so we just went on symptoms.

TikTokBitches · 10/11/2021 16:57

None of our family have tested positive, but I tested positive as having antibodies from having had the virus in the last six months

ItsSnowJokes · 10/11/2021 16:58

Me - not had it. Confirmed by 6 antibody tests since last October. (Trialist)

Husband - not had it. Confirmed by 6 antibody tests since last October. (Trialist)

Daughter 1 - not had it as far as we know.

Daughter 2 - had it in the summer and no one else caught it. Confirmed infection by 2 x pcr tests.

reallyagain · 10/11/2021 16:59

Neither myself nor DH

ItsSnowJokes · 10/11/2021 17:00

I should add myself and husband are double vaccinated trialists who have just had a Pfizer vaccine as well.

miltonj · 10/11/2021 17:01

Me, my husband, my daughter, mum, dad, 7 cousins, grandma, 3 aunties and 5 uncles, my in laws including those working in covid hubs, none of us have knowingly had it. My best friend had it and my brother and his partner have had it and they're the only ones in my major social circle. I of course do know other people who have had it, including a friend of mine who died. So I do know that it's about and we've just been quite lucky I guess, because None of us apart from father in law have been particularly cautious.

trevthecat · 10/11/2021 17:01

I haven't. Also had an antibody test which was negative

CheltenhamLady · 10/11/2021 17:03

Out of our family of 6, only I and DH haven't had it.

I have several friends who have had it twice despite being vaccinated.

It seems to be a lottery.

Gusthemouse · 10/11/2021 17:04

As far as I'm aware I haven't. I am very grateful that I don't know anyone close to me that has had it e.g. friends and family. 25 family members all adults are teachers, police, NHS, university staff or supermarket workers (all double vaccinated) and not caught, the children in the family have gone to school as normal and not had it. Lots of testing etc. None of our friendship circles have had it either. Not particularly healthy group, different ailments, ages etc. Heard about friends of friends of friends who have had it.
