Who HASN'T had Covid?

MerryMarigold · 10/11/2021 16:05

I haven't. I've been in work (out of home) since June 2nd 2020 and I work with 2-4 year olds, mostly covered in bodily fluids. Nearly everyone I know has had it, including 2 of my children. Dh, DS1 and I have not had it. I feel like it's a waiting game now.

Not sure. Had the worst chesty cough ever in Feb 2020 and teens of my extended tribes hospitalised with a similar ailment but all (early rudimentary?) tests said not Covid.

Blanketpolicy · 10/11/2021 16:22

No one in my household has had it. Only 2 people in my family have known they have had it, one died and the other was in hospital for a fortnight which makes me still apprehensive over the whole thing.

Some, but not many, of my friends/colleagues, vaccinated and unvaccinated, have had it with varying severity of symptoms.

Mymapuddlington · 10/11/2021 16:22

I don’t know anyone who has had it.

Me. As far as I know. I still think DH and both kids had it in Feb 2020, but that was pre tests so we'll never know.

@Mrsjayy

How do you get antibody tests I've not heard anything about them?
I was invited to take one through the Zoe app.
PlanDeRaccordement · 10/11/2021 16:24

None of us have had it. We do LFTs twice a week.

Yes, good question!

As far as I'm aware - no symptoms, always negative tests etc - none of my immediate family have had it (me, dh, 3 dc, parents and sister). Bar my mum, none of us tend to pick up illnesses very much. Of course we may have had it and just not known before all the regular testing came in.

Oh I see. I saw a FB friend was getting one but I didn't want to be nosy and ask ..

TroysMammy · 10/11/2021 16:28

I work in a GP surgery, none of the staff have had it.

MerryMarigold · 10/11/2021 16:29

I suppose I may have had it completely asymptomatically but I wasn't ill before LFTs came in and since they've been around I've been testing regularly. I was very surprised it didn't spread in our family with the DC having it as we were only careful once we knew.

I'm not waiting in great fear but I feel a bit strange that sounds 3/4 of my friends and work colleagues have had it and around half my extended family.

DH and I haven’t (and my antibodies test was negative).

WildWombat · 10/11/2021 16:31

Nope. Nor DH, kids, or my parents and siblings and their families. It's not guaranteed. I've only ever had seasonal flu twice in my life and I'm pushing 40 now.

Hen2018 · 10/11/2021 16:31

I haven’t (as far as I know).

I’ve had 2 jabs and continued to test negatively whilst looking after my son who had it quite badly.

Has anyone been into your surgery since March 2020?

Hen2018 · 10/11/2021 16:35

I only knew 2 people who caught it in the whole of 2020.

In the last 3-4 months, I know of at least 50 people who tested positive. My son’s teacher (early 40s) died from it last month.

Reduceddutiesboredom · 10/11/2021 16:38

I only know/ have heard of a handful of people who have actually tested positive for it…I don’t know a single person who has had anything worse than mild cold symptoms with it, thankfully.

However, I try not to have “survivor bias” and know that a lot of people have been very unwell and it can of course kill - albeit the vast majority of deaths are in the over 80s.

Dragonfire282 · 10/11/2021 16:40

Dh, myself and DS haven't had it. Both of us frontline, DS in school the whole time, its been a bloody miracle really!

gunnersgold · 10/11/2021 16:40

Me and all my family!

DockOTheBay · 10/11/2021 16:41

I don't know many people who HAVE had it. My daughters did, but none of the rest of my family including siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins of various ages. Only 2 children (out of 50) and none of the staff at my daughters preschool. Of my friends, one thinks she had it in April last year but wasn't tested nobody else.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 10/11/2021 16:42

Me neither. NHS nurse worked all through and DD had it in the summer thought I was bound to catch it but nothing.

SickAndTiredAgain · 10/11/2021 16:42

Most people I know haven’t knowingly had it.

EileenGC · 10/11/2021 16:43

I think natural immunity is an actual thing like some experts have been pointing out. Some people don't seem to get it even after repeated infections in their own household.

My parents have had it three times (March 20, November 20, October 21) and they're way more careful and 'isolated' than I am.

That, plus luck and coincidence of course.

Teaandakitkat · 10/11/2021 16:43

I've never had it afaik.
Both of my parents have and I have spent a lot of time indoors with them, 2 of my 3 kids have and I share a house with them.

So either I've got a bloody amazing immune system, I've had it with no symptoms, or I've just been really lucky.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 10/11/2021 16:43

I had the antibody test a few months ago so know with certainty to that point I havent. Miracle really given how many people (colleagues, kids, patients) around me have had it.
