Thanks.

Maireas · 18/08/2021 14:04

Thank you, @Blossomtoes.
Well, he can't stay in Balmoral forever. Something's got to happen.

He’ll go back to Royal Lodge and continue to put his head in the sand. And, on the basis that the US is protecting Ann Sacoolas from a manslaughter charge, there will be no UK political will to aid expedition. It’s just a bloody mess, isn’t it?

OP posts:
Maireas · 18/08/2021 14:10

Absolutely. Although I did read that Charles and William are attempting to end his tenancy of Royal Lodge now that both daughters are married.

KillingMeDeftly · 18/08/2021 14:26

HMQ won't live forever and surely Charles and/or William wouldn't protect Andrew to the extent that his mother does?

nottodaybatman · 18/08/2021 14:30

Taking the Royal Lodge is daft. He owns the lease and in any case he will not be homeless he can still stay with Mummy or friends or any of the other royal residents.

I feel again this is the media playing distraction. The Q via the taxpayer is paying his legal fees and will likely be on the hook for any settlement. Epstein's former employer is able to corroborate some of Virginia's claims. Maxwell's criminal trial is in a few months. If the family wanted to be seen to do something they could stop paying those legal fees.

But so far our media has focussed on the lodge, will he get to stand on the balcony for a parade next year and how difficult this is for Q and RF.

Why is it just taken as a given that we the taxpayer should be happy to underwrite this?

Blossomtoes · 18/08/2021 14:45

Why is it just taken as a given that we the taxpayer should be happy to underwrite this?

Because that’s how the tax system works. The only time we get any degree of choice about how our taxes are spent is at the ballot box.

@Blossomtoes
No problem with the tax system per se.
I am noting that our media has been oddly uninterested in discussing in opinion pieces about whether this is a good use of tax payer funds.

This is what I was talking about towards the end of the last thread. The behaviour of the british media is so cowed and bizarre wrt the RF.

And for me this is where I have a problem with the monarchy. This is not a quirk of the system revealed by PA, this is an intended feature.

christmassausages · 18/08/2021 15:01

Is PA the only person she has accused?

DuncinToffee · 18/08/2021 15:21

In this particular lawsuit, yes

But she has had more lawsuits and legal cases against others, Ghislaine Maxwell and Alan Dershowitz

Thank you Blossom

I posted this on the other thread...

Maireas I saw that somewhere... but Royal Lodge is huge. Eugenie or Beatrice were living there with Sarah and PA up till recently. And he has to live somewhere...

Maireas · 18/08/2021 18:55

It is huge. True that he has to live somewhere.
I was thinking that it would be a way to sideline him a bit more if he lived elsewhere.

Maireas · 18/08/2021 18:56

Sarah Ferguson still lives there, she said in the interview I saw about her book.

Roussette · 18/08/2021 18:58

Yes, she does, so as long as she is there, he won't be going anywhere. It's 80 roomed so who knows!

I'm just shocked that the Queen can get lawyers to write and muzzle the Press on this. It means it can be done if the RF want to.

KillingMeDeftly · 18/08/2021 19:01

That's disgraceful!

Maireas · 18/08/2021 19:02

I doubt she pays rent. Do we know what happened to the ski chalet? They made a profit on that ghastly SouthYork house, bought by some Azerbaijani businessman Hmm.
Are the press being muzzled? Bad.

Maireas · 18/08/2021 19:04

Sorry, Kazakhstani. Paid £15m and let it go derelict. All very strange.

Blossomtoes · 18/08/2021 19:04

That link is to a dubious US site. It might be true, it might not. Most people could do it if they threw enough money at the right lawyers.

OP posts:
nottodaybatman · 18/08/2021 19:09

This is why talk of the royal lodge is a distraction. The real story is what @Roussette posted about the media

The reporting in the UK has been weird.
I don't hold the RF in any particular esteem but I have been shocked by the lengths they have gone to protect PA from the consequences of his own behaviour and chosen friendships.

And I will keep banging on about this but apart from the Guardian every other large UK media outlet has minimised or ignored the red flags around this.
The monarchy doesn't deserve to survive this. It is an embarrassment.

Roussette · 18/08/2021 19:09

That marital home was sold to a Kazakh billionaire for £3million over the asking price.

Oldbutstillgotit · 18/08/2021 19:12

I have no idea if that link is credible however I can say that the RF tend to be left alone at Balmoral . Locals are mostly very protective plus it is a vast estate and very well protected .

Maireas · 18/08/2021 19:12

Not at all unusual/suspicious!

Roussette · 18/08/2021 19:15

Yes. And it does him no favours whatsoever, probably lulls him in to a false sense of thinking it will all blow over
