@DuncinToffee

meercat23 Other news outlets reported that the Met based their decision on forwarded information

This from the BBC
The force said it had "reviewed information passed to us by a media organisation in June" and decided that "no further action will be taken".

Ah OK. Thanks. I suppose it depends which outlet is right. None of them have great track records for truth or accuracy in my view.

I was thinking that the Human Trafficking legislation didn’t come into place until
after these alleged incidents took place, so maybe there is no crime established? VG isnt alleging rape, although if she consented to sex with PA was it true consent?
My guess is that there are no criminal offences that can be presumed in the UK

OverByYer · 15/10/2021 08:00

I’m in Windsor right now. There is a very small protest about satanic rituals and peadophiles I assume aimed at Andrew? They appear rather unhinged though

news.sky.com/story/us-judge-sets-deadline-for-prince-andrew-to-answer-questions-under-oath-about-sexual-assault-allegations-12444672

Prince Andrew must be questioned under oath by Virginia Giuffre's lawyers in her civil sexual assault case by mid-July next year, a US judge has ruled.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2021 10:16

This really isn't going to go away is it?

I'm no lawyer and don't know if he can somehow claim the US has no jurisdiction, but otherwise I guess he'd better get on with developing the mystery "illness" which will prevent questioning

Roussette · 26/10/2021 13:37

Definitely not going away and the clock's ticking for him... he has to do something within the next few months because of today's news that sets a time limit on it, to expire just before the platinum jubilee.

Then of course we have the Maxwell case starting in a month's time.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2021 17:16

Of course we have the Maxwell case starting in a month's time

Do you happen to know if it's been delayed, Roussette?

I could have sworn that it was due to start in October, but of course I may be wrong ...

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2021 17:23

The Maxwell trial was originally set to be held in July and then got postponed to November

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2021 17:25

I found this article from last May explaining it, hope the dates are still accurate

www.france24.com/en/americas/20210511-judge-sets-november-start-date-for-ghislaine-maxwell-s-sex-crimes-trial-in-new-york

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2021 17:40

Ah, many thanks - I knew it had been postponed from the summer, but honestly thought October was the new date

It seems they're now saying November is definite but I'll believe it when I see it; if Andrew could suddenly become "too ill to answer questions" then presumably so could Ghislaine

Roussette · 26/10/2021 18:09

@Puzzledandpissedoff

It's 29th November as far as I'm aware. It was moved from July to November then a date fixed (I think)
Who knows what's going to happen... I've just checked Maxwell's family website (protesting her innocence) and brother Ian has said he's 'damn angry'
And that the family stick together. They sure do, that family Hmm

And says this.... ^“Ghislaine is painted as some socialite flibberty gibbet. But it is impossible to have been a child of Bob Maxwell and Elisabeth Maxwell and be a flibberty gibbet. Ghislaine is friends of
presidents. She went to Oxford.”^

OK mate Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2021 18:49

Hilarious comments from Ian Maxwell, Roussette, but only what I'd expect
He probably claimed his repulsive father was innocent too Hmm

KillingMeDeftly · 26/10/2021 19:05

Well clearly no one who went to Oxford ever commuted a criminal act!

Roussette · 26/10/2021 19:18

You ought to see the whole statement... here it is for anyone interested, he's very angry....

That family have always slid out of everything, his father and the brothers...

Here

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2021 23:05

Just read it; pitiful that his best explanation of Ghislaine's involvement is that she "compartmentalised" things, but then it fits the rest of the stupidity

I'd actually forgotten what he looks like - takes me staright back to the thing with his ghastly father (who he now resembles uncannily)

Roussette · 27/10/2021 07:29

Yes Puzzled agree. How he can minimise it like he has, god alone knows. He makes out that his sister barely had contact with JE and had no idea about his sex life.
Given that there are many witness statements testifying that she was the one who recruited the girls from schools, malls and trailer parks and handed out her business card pretending to be a modelling scout etc. I think his arguments hold no water.

And how crass to liken the family to the series 'Succession' in how they stick together.

Is "inability to sweat" enough? It gets hot in those court rooms. Grin
Roussette · 27/10/2021 11:21

The latest this morning...

twitter.com/KlasfeldReports/status/1453119467869949957

'Prince Andrew asks to file the confidential settlement that he claims immunizes him from Virginia Giuffre's suit under seal.

Neither he nor Giuffre contend it needs to be secret, but he wants to comply with a protective order, he says.'

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/10/2021 12:48

I'm losing the plot here - I thought the thing about VG's "agreement" had already been decided, and that it was deemed okay for it to be released?

Or maybe it's the same discussion and they're still arguing the toss over it; like the mills of god, the law grinds slowly

DuncinToffee · 27/10/2021 12:59

I think he is going to use the agreement to claim immunity ( or whatever it is called in legal terms). And I think the agreement is safe to be released as it doesn't include anything specific to do with PA?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/10/2021 13:11

Sounds about right, DuncinToffee

The main thing that occurs to me is that while the RF meddle in our legal system, they may not have the same influence in the US. So while their self-serving motivation's obvious, I'm not sure how much they can affect things in practice

I'm pretty sure how it would go down in the US, though, if they over-stepped and the media chose to make a thing of it

Roussette · 27/10/2021 14:14

I found it puzzling too. The lawyers bills will be increasing monumentally though... all paid by us in a roundabout way.

DuncinToffee · 30/10/2021 10:30

edition.cnn.com/2021/10/29/world/prince-andrew-response-us-sexual-assault-case-intl/index.html

(CNN)Attorneys for Prince Andrew are asking for a lawsuit filed against him by Virginia Roberts Giuffre to be dismissed, saying it violates the terms of a settlement agreement with sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, where she agreed to a "general release" of claims against the two men and others.
