Interesting article in the DM, PAs siblings and PW all making their positions on this clear. HMQ remains silent though ( predictably)

The Mail aren’t letting it go

My heart bleeds for him. Not.

They're even discussing it on Andrew Marr.

If it is true that PA wants to return to public life that is truly shocking. In truth we don't know what he wants or thinks but it would fit with what we do know about his previous actions and choices. That would show a complete lack of awareness of how serious these accusations are and of the fact that, even if he can prove that specific allegations are wrong, he cannot duck the fact that he chose to have an association with JE even after it was publicly known what kind of man he was.

Roussette · 10/10/2021 09:44

For once... what Andrew wants he isn't going to get.

This must be a huge shock to such an entitled twat like him. It's probably never happened before in his life.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/10/2021 10:50

First of all let's not get too excited over what the rags report. It could be fully true ... or other RF members could have placed the story to protect themselves ... or the media could have just made up the whole thing

Secondly, let's remember the many other things that "definitely wouldn't happen" and somehow changed, among them Charles "marrying" Camilla
I agree it's currently unlikely Andrew will regain his public position, but people are fickle and little surprises me any more

Alpacinoshoohaa · 10/10/2021 10:57

But Andrew has never been popular? He's not a beloved family member (if any of them truly are really).
What position is he hoping to regain.

What really struck me in his infamous interview was his tone and perspective. It was almost said in a reassuring way to us the public "please don't worry about me, I'm going to be OK.. My team are looking at it the picture sees fake" and so on.

It was peculiar.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/10/2021 11:04

What position is he hoping to regain

The ego-boosting one where people bow, scrape and fawn over him in public, probably (as opposed to just the staff having to do it)

Also the opportunities which were once open to him in pkaces like America, Kazakhstan, Libya, etc, etc. Hard to keep contacts green when you can no longer press the flesh (ugh) in person, though for all I know he could still be visiting the western asia places - with so much dirt among their own leadership I doubt they'd worry about Andrew

OverByYer · 10/10/2021 11:26

Yes the public have never taken him to heart like his siblings, even Edward has managed to redeem himself, he and Sophie are seen as a safe pair of hands. PA has never shaken off his image of being arrogant, greedy and morally bankrupt

Roussette · 10/10/2021 11:40

And he hasn't shaken off that image because it is who he is

An entitled greedy supercilious arrogant man.

OverByYer · 10/10/2021 11:46

Exactly Rousette, it’s coming back to bite him now, the press aren’t going to protect him or give him any spin

AnnunciataZ · 10/10/2021 19:22

To be fair to Edward, his theatrical ventures weren't quite in the same league as Andrew's dodgy business dealings and he was only about 21 or 22 at the time of the Royal Knockout. I'm sure we all said things 35 years ago that we now regret!

One of the most shocking bits of the Maitlis interview was Andrew's refusal to admit any wrongdoing in staying friends with Epstein. Even if he's innocent of VG's accusation, how arrogant do you have to be to defend a friendship with a convicted sex criminal?

CathyorClaire · 10/10/2021 19:57

@Roussette

And he hasn't shaken off that image because it is who he is

Quite.

It's been apparent from the day he thought spraying press photographers with white paint was a good laugh to the day he smashed through the gates at Windsor rather than take a mile detour and the day he told security staff alerted to a possible intruder near Mummy's boudoir (turned out to be him) that BP was his fcking home and he'd go where he fcking well liked in it.

Wonder what strings Olivia Pope (aka the queen) pulled there??

Roundlampshade · 10/10/2021 22:38

It’s so murky.

Roussette · 10/10/2021 23:09

So the Met looked at the evidence again, and again decided there is no case, yet haven't even contacted VG Hmm

meercat23 · 10/10/2021 23:19

So much for no one is above the law. So much for justice needing to be done and to be seen to be done.

OverByYer · 10/10/2021 23:25

Really disappointing. There needs to be an investigation before you can conclude NFA. And you can’t investigate without speaking to the key witness.. not good

AnnunciataZ · 11/10/2021 07:13

This doesn't affect the civil case though, does it?

Roussette · 11/10/2021 07:25

No you're right AnnunciataZ

I just find it odd that they can decide not to proceed with investigations without actually interviewing anyone connected with it Confused

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2021 08:45

Depressingly predictable Angry

namechangedjustthisonce · 11/10/2021 10:09

I used to have respect for the Queen, if nothing for her dedication to service.

I think this will have a very nasty blow back on the royal family.

meercat23 · 11/10/2021 10:36

I share the concern that this review has been dropped so quickly but can I ask why you think the police have not interviewed anyone connected to the case. Press reports, (Guardian and DM) say that police have spoken to VG before deciding to drop the case. I realise that 'spoken to' can mean anything from a quick phone call to a formal interview but unless the press reports are wrong the police have spoken to at least VG.
DuncinToffee · 11/10/2021 10:43

meercat23 Other news outlets reported that the Met based their decision on forwarded information

This from the BBC
The force said it had "reviewed information passed to us by a media organisation in June" and decided that "no further action will be taken".
