I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works

So, with the lockdown and stress and being with DH, I slowly started eating more sugar and bread. And wine.

I feel I could do with losing 3 kgs and detoxing my body. But I have no motivation to diet. I really don’t.

I couldn’t keep up with 16:8, 5:2 or calorie counting.

So I did a random search on the net hoping for a miracle, easy solution.

And I found this somewhat wacky diet I am trying out. I’m only in the second day. Five more to go!

First day was unlimited fruit (but only one variety). I slipped up in the morning and had a croissant and a sweet. But then stuck with watermelon all day. And took a brisk walk.

Today is veg in any form. Had tomato soup and beetroot salad. I’m feeling a tiny bit hungry. But much better than yesterday.

I feel less foggy and bloated. I can’t wait for tomorrow when I can have fruit And veg (except for potatoes and bananas). 😃

I quite fancy a Jesuit now. You're a bad influence, OP!

I like the sound of this- I'm happily doing slimming world at the moment, but when I'm at target and need help staying there, this is what I'll remember.

It's kind of like intermittent fasting- entirely random restrictions that even out over time.

Trumpton · 25/06/2021 08:08

Oh my days! I had to Google Jésuite pastries.
What had I never heard of those before?

They are now on my list to try, after the boiled egg and wine diet.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/06/2021 08:27
@DobbyTheHouseElk I did that one in the 90s too - you were meant to lose 10lb in 3 days. I was temping at a hospital, and it was called the British Heart Foundation Diet, it went round on on the fax machines.

Turns out it was nothing to do with the British Heart Foundation who have disowned it.

You can find it here for some nostalgia for ritz crackers, beetroot and hardboiled eggs (this one says carrots but my poorly photocopied fax said beetroot) blog.slimmingsolutions.com/all/three-day-diet-free-meal-plan-aka-heart-foundation-diet/
Yes, I remember it was something to do with heart surgery.

In the 90’s I was permanently on a diet of some sort. I look back at photos and wonder why I thought I was fat. I’d love to be that fat now.

Omg, I think this is the final straw that proves OP is dead serious and just unintentional sounds like a wind up merchant...

Hope you resisted OP. I want one of these now.

I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works
Gorgeouslilgirl · 25/06/2021 10:44

I resisted! I watched DH dunk his croissant in coffee while I gnawed at an apple.

He was quite apologetic. I did feel fleeting moments of longing. But not craving-intensity and after a sip, I let him have the rest of my coffee (he had lots of croissant left to dunk).

I’ve discovered that I have loads of coffee simply to enjoy a nice sweet with it. And wine as an excuse for the crisps. I am not missing either. Well, not too much.

I feel...cleaner inside. And more relaxed, as if my tummy is finally getting a break.

Still have a bit of headache though.

Dh weighed himself this morning and he has lost one third of a kg. And he is not even on a diet!

I haven’t lost anything...yet.

How do you take an extreme fad diet lightly? Confused

I must like my food too much. I couldn’t fuss around with this for giggles.Shock

ChargingBuck · 25/06/2021 12:23

But DH ate all the boiled potatoes so I just skipped that.

I had some cod liver oil instead.

ChargingBuck · 25/06/2021 12:28

I told DH last night that I’d have my usual brioche with coffee in the morning. But when it came to this morning, I didn’t feel like it!

I just had coffee and he had both slices of brioche. He told he he felt a bit sick after.

@Gorgeouslilgirl, you are the poster who keeps on giving Grin Grin Grin
Seriously, you could have a column in a national rag ... (& presumably all the advantages of not being India Knight ...?

ChargingBuck · 25/06/2021 12:38

@Luckyelephant1

I love that your DH seems to eat half the stuff you wanted to eat 😂
So do I, half the charm of this bonkers thread is the OP/DH interactions.

And that her decision to lose her mind for 6 days do this diet & have a cooking break hasn't caused ructions, as reading between the lines, her household seems entirely capable of managing its kitchen routines without her input ...

Badabingbadabum · 25/06/2021 13:25

I will join the OP today in odd diets. Because the food van didn't turn up at our office I am following the Found in My Bag diet.

Along with water and instant coffee I will be consuming a tiny box of raisins and a mini pack of Haribo.

toocold54 · 25/06/2021 18:55

@WineAcademy that is one diet I would love to do!!! GrinGrin

toocold54 · 25/06/2021 18:58

I HATE people like this!! Lol

OP I actually love you! I feel like you should have your own tv show or something GrinGrin

Gorgeouslilgirl · 26/06/2021 06:44

Yesterday I had a couple of wobbles,

in the morning when DH was dunking croissant in his coffee.

And later in the day when he had a bowl of crisps with a fizzy drink. My fav blue potato crisps, crunchy with a delicious sprinkle of French salt. I left the room hurriedly and ate my cherries on the terrace.

So over the day I had
Veg - one and a half courgettes steamed, 2 small carrots raw, two cups on tomato and beetroot soup
Fruit - an apple, quarter of a watermelon and 25 cherries
I was full as you can imagine. Either my tummy has shrunk, or this is easy. Well after the first day hiccup 😂

No head ache this morning. And I have lost 1.1 kgs!

Probably put it back on with bananas and yogurt today.

OP posts:
Gorgeouslilgirl · 26/06/2021 06:48

It is a bonkers diet 🤣

But I am feeling good and losing weight. If I can get through the next few days, I might do this “re-set” diet every few months.

Scaredycatmoo76 · 26/06/2021 07:06

What’s your bowel movements like?!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 26/06/2021 07:19

@Scaredycatmoo76

What’s your bowel movements like?!
That’s quite a personal question 😃 Not that great. I probably need to drink more water.
OP posts:
Scaredycatmoo76 · 26/06/2021 07:21

Given your diet - it is the very first question that popped in to my mind.

All I will say is….

Brace yourself.

MaMaD1990 · 26/06/2021 07:24

This is so unhealthy and dangerous - you need sources of protein, fibre, fat and carbs throughout the day. There's no such thing as a 'detox' for your body (it does it on its own!) And you're probably struggling to have a poo because you need more fibre...I really hope you reconsider this and just go for a balanced and nutritious diet encorporating all food groups soon.

Fitforforty · 26/06/2021 07:35

After 6 banana and unlimited egg day I know I would be very constipated.

How long are you doing the diet for?

What will you do at the end of it?

DisgruntledPelican · 26/06/2021 07:48

I am weeping at the surprise from your DH losing a third of a kg. He probably went for a wee Grin

WineAcademy · 26/06/2021 07:54

I left the room hurriedly and ate my cherries on the terrace.
🤣🤣🤣

Luckyelephant1 · 26/06/2021 10:36

Please carry on giving us your account of this diet OP, especially your DH's actions which are VERY funny!
