I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works

So, with the lockdown and stress and being with DH, I slowly started eating more sugar and bread. And wine.

I feel I could do with losing 3 kgs and detoxing my body. But I have no motivation to diet. I really don’t.

I couldn’t keep up with 16:8, 5:2 or calorie counting.

So I did a random search on the net hoping for a miracle, easy solution.

And I found this somewhat wacky diet I am trying out. I’m only in the second day. Five more to go!

First day was unlimited fruit (but only one variety). I slipped up in the morning and had a croissant and a sweet. But then stuck with watermelon all day. And took a brisk walk.

Today is veg in any form. Had tomato soup and beetroot salad. I’m feeling a tiny bit hungry. But much better than yesterday.

I feel less foggy and bloated. I can’t wait for tomorrow when I can have fruit And veg (except for potatoes and bananas). 😃

@Gorgeouslilgirl

😂

Each day so special
Day 1 - Fruit day (but only one type of fruit if your choice). So easy and no decision fatigue
Day 2 - all veg except potatoes (can have one in the morning). A bit harder as this veg or fruit debate here illustrates.
Day 3 - fruits and veg. So easy again!
Day 4 - is jackpot. Six big bananas and milk. I’ll have yogurt instead. Maybe some cream too.

Day 5- unlimited eggs and 6 tomatoes

What’s supposed to be the benefit of this? Confused
Janaih · 24/06/2021 15:37

Is this the 5 day diet? On day 4 you can have unlimited steak or something? It does work it was designed for cardiac surgery patients I believe. You have to stick to it 100% though. No croissants Grin

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 15:37

I wouldn’t want to be in the same house as someone eating unlimited eggs…

I've done a bizarre egg fast a few times. It's 3 days and great for shrinking your appetite, losing around 5lb of bloat, and breaking a stall on a low carb diet. Weirdly OK on the bowels, but it's difficult to look at an egg again after 3 days!

I think all these short diets that are very limited can be useful to reset your appetite and break bad habits, so long as you don't tend to fall into a packet of chocolate hobnobs afterwards!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 15:46

🤣

I have no idea if any of this works.

But at least I’m free of the daily decision fatigue - what to cook? Is it healthy? Should I add more salt or more spices? What should I make as a side?

And should I have wine today even though it’s not the weekend ? Should I have some crisps with it? Or nuts? Or both? And is that too much?

Nada, nothing.

And I get to binge on cherries tomorrow 😃

I have a lovely work friend and over the years we've tried allllll the diets. our favourite was the **mono, where you choose one food and eat only that. she did chocolate mono. i did crisp mono. we did actually both lose weight but got bored after a week

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 15:48

How many people actually do break those bad habits by eating a potato for breakfast and nothing but eggs?

Why not just start eating a proper balanced diet?

5566rfghh · 24/06/2021 15:49

@sqirrelfriends
Seems it depends whether you're talking botanical or culinary wise, so I'd go with veg on this one 😆.

also missing point of thread... (sorry ☺)

OP how much fruit did you eat all day? I think I'd be starving!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 15:49

Well, there was a bit of a wobble today regarding tomato soup. And whether it is a fruit or a veg.

But that was it! No food decisions at all!

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 15:54

I’m sure mischaracterising a tomato as a vegetable will totally derail the scientific nature of this diet.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/06/2021 15:54

if it's choices of what you eat that you struggle with then you could download the free app "Tiny Decisions".

you fill up a list with say what's for lunch, title it "Lunch" then spin the wheel for random answer.
it's so useful.
here's mine for soups.

I have different wheels for dinners. and also other things: projects, chores, what music to listen to. it's great when I'd procrastinate otherwise

I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works
sqirrelfriends · 24/06/2021 15:55

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a large amount of cherries is likely to wreak havoc on your digestive system.

I bought 2kg when they got really cheap a few years ago. I ate about half in one sitting and really suffered for it.

On the plus side, it might help you lose some water-weight.

ABitOfAShitShow · 24/06/2021 15:57

Just got a fit of uncontrollable giggles during a work zoom. OP's slip up comment and the bbc food comment sent me over the edge. Thanks for the laughs.

FantasticButtocks · 24/06/2021 15:58

@Kentuki

This is hilarious. It’s like the comments section under the recipes on the bbc good food website

“Did not have celeriac so substituted with pecans and I don’t like cream so added orange juice and wafers instead, also threw in some ras el hanout as it was about to go out of date, it was a bit thick so i halved the amount of flour and used potato wedges instead, ignored the suggestion to serve with rice as I am doing low carb so had it alongside scrambled egg and truffle shavings. Recommended, would make again but next time wouldn’t have it for dessert”

SO funny! Grin thank you for cheering me up!

I absolutely LOVE slipping up on the first morning with .... a croissant!!!! 🥐 brilliant 😁

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/06/2021 15:59

Reminds me of a bonkers diet I tried in the 90’s.

Breakfast: cheese

Lunch : 2 slices of toast and a cup of peanut butter

Dinner: 2 ritz biscuits, a cup of ice cream and an apple

Each day was bonkers. Everyone lost weight on it. I put on 2lbs and was miserable the whole time.

SIX bananas? GrinGrinGrin this just gets better

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/06/2021 16:00

Why couldn’t you stick to 16:8? It’s literally just a window of time of your choosing within which to eat your meals?

I’d find picking one fruit to stick to for a whole day much harder. I’m getting decision fatigue just thinking about it. Ahh the options.

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 16:03

😂😂😂

To the po who asked how much fruit I had yesterday, it was half of a big watermelon. So probably 4 to 6 bowls over the day? I could have had more, but DH had finished the rest.

I had an ahem, croissant and a bite of a custard tart in the morning, so I wasn’t that hungry during the day. But at night I felt a full on craving. Proper addiction-likeShock that’s when I mentioned to DH that I was going to have brioche with my morning coffee

But luckily the craving was gone in the morning!

My tummy is flat after being bloated. And I feel deeply happy 😃 may be it is just because I’m on a break from daily cooking

What if you get potassium poisoning from eating six bananas Shock

disclaimer: not a doctor

Charliebradbury · 24/06/2021 16:05

6 bananas and milk all day?? Do you love constipation? Followed by unlimited eggs the next day. Not sure I would like living with you this week. I'm not sure I understand the point but crack on haha

Wouldn’t want to be your dp after day 5!

azimuth299 · 24/06/2021 16:06

I'm finding this very specific diet so charming Grin please do let us know how you get on OP! Hopefully day eight is unlimited French bakery foods, so you can get your croissant and brioche fix.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 24/06/2021 16:08

The only reason why you'll lose weight is cos you'll be shitting for England eating all that fruit and veg. It'll all go back on again once you start eating normal food

Sidge · 24/06/2021 16:17

This thread is hilarious 😂

How on earth did you find this “diet”. It’s bonkers.

Oh and potatoes aren’t a vegetable. Apparently. They’re a carbohydrate/starch.
