I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works

So, with the lockdown and stress and being with DH, I slowly started eating more sugar and bread. And wine.

I feel I could do with losing 3 kgs and detoxing my body. But I have no motivation to diet. I really don’t.

I couldn’t keep up with 16:8, 5:2 or calorie counting.

So I did a random search on the net hoping for a miracle, easy solution.

And I found this somewhat wacky diet I am trying out. I’m only in the second day. Five more to go!

First day was unlimited fruit (but only one variety). I slipped up in the morning and had a croissant and a sweet. But then stuck with watermelon all day. And took a brisk walk.

Today is veg in any form. Had tomato soup and beetroot salad. I’m feeling a tiny bit hungry. But much better than yesterday.

I feel less foggy and bloated. I can’t wait for tomorrow when I can have fruit And veg (except for potatoes and bananas). 😃

What made you choose that particular diet?

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 17:23

I only have watermelon, apples and cherries at home. So it was an easy choice to choose watermelon as the most filling of the lot.

In what universe is watermelon filling?

Charliebradbury · 24/06/2021 17:24

Watermelon is mainly water how can that be filling?

I think it has more fibre than you might expect?

PinkCast · 24/06/2021 17:26

Sounds like the cabbage soup diet I did a couple of times in the early 90s.
More or less the same 7 day diet but with all the cabbage soup you could eat too 🥬 🤢🤢

It doesn’t.

6 bananas followed by unlimited eggs will make Day 6 fun in the bathroom!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 17:27

Watermelon is surprisingly filling! I don’t know why.

I picked this diet because I don’t have to go shopping or do any real cooking.

It feels like a (slightly hungry) holiday!

@Gorgeouslilgirl

😂

Each day so special
Day 1 - Fruit day (but only one type of fruit if your choice). So easy and no decision fatigue
Day 2 - all veg except potatoes (can have one in the morning). A bit harder as this veg or fruit debate here illustrates.
Day 3 - fruits and veg. So easy again!
Day 4 - is jackpot. Six big bananas and milk. I’ll have yogurt instead. Maybe some cream too.

Day 5- unlimited eggs and 6 tomatoes

I am really tempted to try this! Mainly for the banana day.
Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 17:35

“Hopefully day eight is unlimited French bakery foods, so you can get your croissant and brioche fix.”

Bless you!

Although maybe I won’t want to after the detox? That’s the theory anyway 😃

I nearly cried at “A croissant and a bite of custard tart” for Day 1 breakfast Grin

OP, you are comedy gold. Thank you Grin

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 17:40

I’m so torn between finding this hilarious and wanting to repeatedly hit my head against a wall.

How is eating six tomatoes and a (chicken) shed load of eggs actually supposed to “detox” your body over and above what your liver and kidneys do every single day?

SticksAndStoned · 24/06/2021 17:43

Of course potatoes are a vegetable.

Just because low carb diets don't allow them, while they allow other vegetables, doesn't suddenly turn a potato into a rock...

PickAChew · 24/06/2021 17:47

Are the eggs and bananas to bind you after 3 days of nothing but fruit and/or veg?

toocold54 · 24/06/2021 17:49

I love how you slipped up on the first morning 😂😂😂

This is why diets don’t work and why us overweight people are constantly on a diet because we cut too much stuff out and then our bodies crave crap even more.
I went on a protein shake diet and two days later ended up buying a big piece of cake, I don’t even like cake!!

Noapplejustcrumble · 24/06/2021 17:49

I did a bonkers diet a few years ago called the James Duncan Diet. Was mainly grapefruit, eggs, meat and fruit. Whole plates of fruit for lunch, and lamb chops with grapefruit for dinner. Can't look at a grapefruit any more.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 24/06/2021 17:50

What about days 6&7 do you just revert back to days 1&2?

ScribblyBaller · 24/06/2021 17:56

It'll turn into a quest.

Day 45: eat only Himalayan wild flowers. Must be picked in the Himalayas

Day 67: eat only the feet of a poison dart frog. Must be captured fresh in Amazon rainforest.

Day 101: Eat digestive biscuits. Caveat: they must come from Harry Style's kitchen cupboard.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/06/2021 18:00

I'm on a kiwi diet.
I can eat anything but kiwis

greedymum · 24/06/2021 18:01

@Gorgeouslilgirl I have done the GM diet a few times, it really worked for me and I liked the weird daily allowed foods.

Obviously I put the weight back on otherwise I wouldn't have done it a few times Grin

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 18:02

“ What about days 6&7 do you just revert back to days 1&2?”

I think day 6 is cheese (like ricotta) with veggies, both unlimited.

And the last day is getting back to a proper meal with some gluten free grain, brown rice or quinoa.

greedymum · 24/06/2021 18:05

I didn't do the vegetarian version so one of the days was only beef and tomato, brilliant!

Thank you! I kinda like it so far, even though I messed up the first morning 😂

A previous poster had mentioned that mixing all the food would mean a balanced diet over the week of omelettes, veggies, fruit and cheese.

But I think there is something to this mono-stuff. Perhaps easier to digest each day? And complete nutrients over the week?

It is an odd diet, at first glance 😃

Has nobody else wondered why GENERAL MOTORS are coming up with diets, according to the OP?? Why??

I’m pretty sure you can get recipes using those in Nigella’s cookbooks.
