I’m trying a really odd diet and hope it works

So, with the lockdown and stress and being with DH, I slowly started eating more sugar and bread. And wine.

I feel I could do with losing 3 kgs and detoxing my body. But I have no motivation to diet. I really don’t.

I couldn’t keep up with 16:8, 5:2 or calorie counting.

So I did a random search on the net hoping for a miracle, easy solution.

And I found this somewhat wacky diet I am trying out. I’m only in the second day. Five more to go!

First day was unlimited fruit (but only one variety). I slipped up in the morning and had a croissant and a sweet. But then stuck with watermelon all day. And took a brisk walk.

Today is veg in any form. Had tomato soup and beetroot salad. I’m feeling a tiny bit hungry. But much better than yesterday.

I feel less foggy and bloated. I can’t wait for tomorrow when I can have fruit And veg (except for potatoes and bananas). 😃

PurpleDaisies

According to that article, at some point in time I must have taken facts distributed by Karl Pilkington as gospel truth (sounds about right tbf)

TheMarzipanDildo · 24/06/2021 16:23

“Adults should consume about 3,500mg of potassium per day, according to the UK's National Health Service. The average banana, weighing 125g, contains 450mg of potassium, meaning a healthy person can consume at least seven-and-half bananas before reaching the recommended level.”

Also, if this is the case, how on earth does anyone manage to eat enough potassium?

It’s in loads of other foods as well as bananas. If you eat a generally balanced diet you’re likely to be getting enough.

Anyone asked for this to go in Classics?
It’s made my day.

I agree.

@Passmethefrazzles have you considered starting a diet based on your user name? This could be the moment.

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 16:31

Actually I think I like the idea of the purple daisies diet.
Purple foods one day, daisies the next. Maybe if they’re not flowering you could substitute dandelions (or dandelion and burdock fizzy pop) for the daisy days.

@Kentuki That made me laugh so much Grin
This thread is bonkers.

Hallyup6 · 24/06/2021 16:39

I hope your toilet is comfortable.

Kanaloa · 24/06/2021 16:41

Why does it change every day? And why does it have to be just one fruit? Unlimited eggs and six tomatoes… it’s just so weird. It’s fine for a week, despite being bonkers, but I wouldn’t keep it up long term. I don’t think it’s a good idea to eat only watermelon then six bananas and milk/yogurt then unlimited eggs.

Wouldn’t it work just to eat normally? If you spread your unlimited eggs from one day and your veg from the other days across the week you could eat an omelette and salad every day. And over the week you’d consume the same calories, but would be eating a normal meal daily.

TheyAreMinerals · 24/06/2021 16:41

@dobbythehouseelk A CUP of peanut butter?

Luckyelephant1 · 24/06/2021 16:45

I love that your DH seems to eat half the stuff you wanted to eat 😂

trilbydoll · 24/06/2021 16:45

The cabbage soup diet has a banana day, I couldn't eat that many bananas when I did it.

My theory is eating zero salt means you lose loads of water weight. I love a crazy short term diet Grin

Passmethefrazzles · 24/06/2021 16:49

Day 1: all the Frazzles you can eat
Day 2: 27kilos of Quavers and a mushroom
Day 3: intravenous Monster Munch (pickled onion flavour)
Day4: a skip load of Skips and an apple turnover (fruit based snack)
Day 5: Imodium
Day 6: Olives (to go with the gin)
Day 7: rest day, eat all food groups to ensure all minerals and vitamins are replenished. And gin.

riotlady · 24/06/2021 16:50

This reminds me of all the insane diets that got passed around pro ana forums in the 00s. I remember doing a Disney Princess one where on Snow White day you only ate apples, Ariel fish, etc.

imnottoofussed · 24/06/2021 16:52

i'm not sure your soup will have been just tomatoes either unless you made it yourself with literally just tomato

MaliceOrgan · 24/06/2021 16:53

was it tinned tomato soup? Isn't that stuff packed with sugar?

Scaredycatmoo · 24/06/2021 16:53

On the first morning of the first say you slipped up and had a “crossiant”

I love this!

MoiraNotRuby · 24/06/2021 16:54

@Kentuki

This is hilarious. It’s like the comments section under the recipes on the bbc good food website

“Did not have celeriac so substituted with pecans and I don’t like cream so added orange juice and wafers instead, also threw in some ras el hanout as it was about to go out of date, it was a bit thick so i halved the amount of flour and used potato wedges instead, ignored the suggestion to serve with rice as I am doing low carb so had it alongside scrambled egg and truffle shavings. Recommended, would make again but next time wouldn’t have it for dessert”

🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣

I love a wierd diet thread. Saw a great vintage magazine diet, it was basically 3 days of eggs, Chablis and coffee. I don't even need to lose weight but felt tempted.

Grin I remember it was a lot of peanut butter. More than 2 ritz could manage.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/06/2021 16:55

Lots of black coffee too. It was insane.

Op… young? No children? And can’t work in an office surely?!

WrongWayApricot · 24/06/2021 17:10

This thread is hilarious 😂

I think just being near your DH at all times could be your next wacky diet as he seems to finish all your food before you get round to eating it.

Gorgeouslilgirl · 24/06/2021 17:17

“i'm not sure your soup will have been just tomatoes either unless you made it yourself with literally just tomato”

I made the tomato soup myself. It was just tomatoes and salt and water. Popped these in the soup maker.

Normally I add lots of stuff to give it flavour. This time it was so simple.

Once it was done, I added a bit of basil, a bit of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon. Hopefully all in the acceptable condiments to veg category!

I know, the diet sounds a bit nuts 😂 but is so prescriptive and easy.

I only have watermelon, apples and cherries at home. So it was an easy choice to choose watermelon as the most filling of the lot.

And given that is a bit of a shoulder season, the only veggies at home are beetroot, courgette, fennel and tomatoes. And the potatoes that DH finished.

I do like the sound of the egg, coffee and chablis diet!
