What were the first mumsnet threads you remember reading?

The first ones that stand out for me were one which was a huge bun fight about piercing babies ears.

The other one was by an obviously depressed mum whose house was a tip and the social worker was coming to visit soon (there was no sympathy to be had)

OP posts:

I don't remember the first thread, but an early one was about a woman who was flying and her 8 year old DD was given a seat next to the window and she had an aisle with an empty seat inbetween. the cabin crew kept telling her she could and should move to be next to her DD. It was quite boring thread to begin with, with lots of posters berating OP for not wanting to move closer, but towards the end there were some great funny posts Grin

when I first started posting I was a little obnoxious Blush then ended up on a thread actually called the 'bun fight thread' which was fun and really hit it off with another reality new poster. I use to name change a lot, but she's almost royalty now as she still posts under her original name.

The first one I ever posted on was a Kerrymom thread about going to Croatia (iirc)
The first one I was deleted on was when I told someone "you're talking rubbish". I hadn't realised the poster in question was a Name and had to be treated with deference.
Probably about 2005-2006.

Some interesting interpretations of the word "first" in the thread title.

The Spartacus one. I came here looking for sisterly solidarity, stumbled across Spartacus and jumped on...

A thread about the forum Damsels and its members (of which I was one). I think there was supposed to be a fight after school or something but it didn’t materialise in the end.

'Pouffe of poo" was very early on in my Mumsnet days.

@Geamhradh

I wasn't being entirely serious.

There are some lovely posts on this thread demonstrating how people end up on MN for help and end up staying for years, but the inevitable repeating of the classic "funny" threads is also much in evidence, the same way that any FB mis-spelling threads follow a predictable pattern.

But that's MN for you Grin

I got here by googling advice for grandparents which really opened my eyes to how things have changed since I was a new mum in the 80s and yes I read the sistine chapel thread live Blush
