The first ones that stand out for me were one which was a huge bun fight about piercing babies ears.

The other one was by an obviously depressed mum whose house was a tip and the social worker was coming to visit soon (there was no sympathy to be had)

OP posts:
Bobishere · 15/05/2021 09:50

I still wonder about "TwittleBee Woods"
and enjoyed the fat balls incident, and still wonder what happened to Softzilla.
The Mexican House thief was something too as was the Sistine Chapel, too many to count 🤣

passwordnotsecure · 15/05/2021 09:52

Can't remember the first, but 'Penis beaker' will always be remembered as a classic thread...

KitNCaboodle · 15/05/2021 10:05

I can’t remember order of threads but the ones that stick in my memory(ish)

Penis beaker
Party with water soakers
Yoni massage

Wolef coats
Naice ham

I also remember high drama when a poster's toddler DC had his ride on tractor/fire engine/truck stolen by a shitty neighbour.

newnortherner111 · 15/05/2021 10:34

The first game of Mornington Crescent. And of course no-one would ever forget the penis beaker thread.

Samcro · 15/05/2021 10:38

back when there was a topic where you could post about yourself(can't remember what it was called) and Cod was having a massive go at someone on it.

DearPrudence · 15/05/2021 10:43

@RufustheBadgeringReindeer

The one I remember and eventually joined mumsnet for was the woman who was taking her son to an outdoor party and he wanted to take a massive water gun but he wasn’t going to use it on people

She even said he was a bit of a handful!

Thread full of people going ‘no 😱’ and her going ‘but....’

I think you mean a Supersoaker Grin

I joined shortly before the Moldies saga Confused

captainjacksparrow · 15/05/2021 10:46

I think her name was cupoftea

It was about her Dd Bea who had a life limiting illness.

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 15/05/2021 10:48

A lengthy one about whether you should ask people to remove their shoes in your house or not.

I first found the Christmas forum though so remember feeling stressed because I did not have a poncetastic Christmas at all Grin. Discovered the dreaded elf on the shelf thanks to that forum too, a good 9 years ago now so way before it became mainstream.

FairyDust123456 · 15/05/2021 10:52

One of the first threads I remember being completely obsessed with was GEG. Where the OP had a crush on the gardener and they went on a date, it was such fun Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 15/05/2021 10:59

I was very bored and very heavily pregnant and there was an AIBU about gender reveal parties which was very funny.
It was some point before Penis Beaker, but after Yoni as there were a lot of Yoni usernames and references.

Cocolapew · 15/05/2021 11:03

I joined when it was all a bit Mean Girls and cliquey. Then Mouldies happened and I was rivitted Grin.
I hated TRexing in the supermarket and penis beaker.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 15/05/2021 11:05

StateofConfusion and the people living in the car
MarmaladeTwatkins and Lemon Drizzle PTA

Pirate noises in the bedroom Grin

There were so many amazing threads, Mumsnet is not like it used to be.

UberMullet · 15/05/2021 11:12

CopingVeryQuietly's multiple threads. Turned out to be a massive troll.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 15/05/2021 11:19

Not sure if this has been mentioned. The lady who lived in rural area. Strange things were happening. Think the title of thread was 'weird or not'
Scared the crap out of me.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 15/05/2021 11:21
@hen2018 - I didn't see your thread till after I posted mine, I've since reread that thread and it still gets to me
I read this recently. I spent hours in tears. That lady was a wonderful, one of the earths beautiful souls.

An AIBU about a woman who worked in a school. I think she'd eaten eight sandwiches from a share plate in a break room prior to the lunch break. A colleague had asked her not to 'piggy' all the sandwiches before everyone else had a chance to take one and she was upset at being called out.

She was mostly told she was being unreasonable and everyone shared stories of people hogging shared food at work.

It was a delightfully petty and silly thread. I don't even know I came to be on it, or Mumsnet at all, but I've been hooked on AIBU since.

I wish I could find it again, I don't remember what it was called.

AgadorSpartacus · 16/05/2021 13:21

2010 it was a thread about the sexiness of Justin Fletcher! Grin

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/05/2021 13:31

@Bluefinger

Luckymcducky did you not get baby centre boards recommended? They were my training grounds for mumsnet lol
same here circa 2004. All got a bit hunnish though, and soon found my spiritual home
ILookAtTheFloor · 16/05/2021 13:39

I remember mine distinctly.

I was on FB and I had a suggested post from The Pool, it was something to do with feminism. I read the comments and someone posted a link to Feminism Chat and the thread was about facilitated men. I read every single post before falling down the MN rabbit hole. Then I lurked for about 18 months.

I still don't post on Feminism Chat but it's my favourite mumsnet board and I'm not exaggerating when I say it changed my whole outlook and worldview.
Thank you to the woman that shared the facilitated men thread.

ILookAtTheFloor · 16/05/2021 13:40

Here's the thread for those interested...

There was a lady on the pregnancy boards at the same time as I joined (Dec 2016/jan 2017) who had given up on the idea of having children and was mid to late forties (I think). Her and her partner had tried but it never happened so they gave up and built a life without. She started feeling off and took a pregnancy test that was well out of date that she found in her cupboard and it was positive which was later confirmed by Dr's. She was in a state of shock I think. I loved reading that thread and was so, so happy for her. I always wonder what happened to her

OhWhyNot · 16/05/2021 13:48

I think it was Gina Ford
