Wondering whats actually normal. I shower every 2-3 days in the evenings.

samandpoppysmummy · 03/05/2021 18:30

I have a shower every morning and a bath most evenings.

NewMumma1819 · 03/05/2021 18:30

When I worked I'd shower and wash hair in the morning and then have a bath in the evening. Now I shower or bath every night and wash my hair every other day. In the summer I'll shower every morning too.

LST · 03/05/2021 18:32

@maddiemookins16mum do you not realise everyone is different? I do not smell and I don't shower everyday. You're being absolutely ridiculous

MirandaWest · 03/05/2021 18:33

I shower probably 5 times or so a week. I can’t really get worked up about other peoples showering habits.

We never had a shower when I was growing up (am 45). Wonder when they started to be something nearly everyone has?

GoldenOmber · 03/05/2021 18:37

No, every couple of days. Although when I had a very sicky baby it was multiple times per day!

Do you wash yourself in between? Do you change your underwear etc daily? You’re not putting clean clothing over an unwashed body?

What?

Chailatteplease · 03/05/2021 18:42

Yes everyday. I’d feel very grubby if I didn’t.

I can never understand how some think it’s easier to wash with a flannel. I hated having to do that at my grandparents, as a child. Much easier to jump in the shower.

Blimey. And I thought the 'how often do you do wash your towels?' threads were ten a penny.

Like with all things like this on MN crack on with what you want to do, what faceless people on the internet do has no bearing on it. Everyone has their own standard of cleanliness they like to keep to.

Minezatea · 03/05/2021 18:48

Yes every day. And every day in the summer (pre-masks) I smelt people who had not. And many of them I suspect did not think that they smelt bad. But my god they did.

Coffeeand · 03/05/2021 18:50

This is probably the most common thread on MN.
Normally surmised as
I shower every day
I shower twice a day
I couldn’t function without a shower
I can’t shower every day because (insert skin condition)
You will smell if you don’t shower for 48 hours

Then some more sensible person will just say wash as frequently as you wish to and we move on, until the next thread about the same topic.

howdidigettobe50something · 03/05/2021 18:51

Absolutely every morning I shower and wash my hair...as do my DH and DS and DDs. I would feel really grim if I didn't and have done this since I was a teenager I think. I never feel truly awake if I don't either

LST · 03/05/2021 18:52

FourTeaFallOut · 03/05/2021 18:53

There might be a handful of days in the year when I don't have a shower.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 03/05/2021 18:54

Yup daily, usually in the morning but on the occasional PJ day I will shower before bed instead. Twice a day on hot days.

CockneyCutie · 03/05/2021 18:54

If I’m in work, flannel wash (at 5am😮) then bath or shower & hair wash every night. Days off, bath or shower before going anywhere, or save it til before bed.
Only miss a day if too poorly to move from bed.
Couldn’t imagine missing 2 or 3 days for no good reason!!

ElphabaTWitch · 03/05/2021 18:55

Every single day. Sometimes twice. But some folk can’t shower that often because of skin conditions etc a wash in the basin with a cloth of the important/smelly bits is absolutely fine too I think. Not washing at all for three days is totally minging to me.

Pinkpaisley · 03/05/2021 18:56

I shower every evening.
I have skin contact allergies and even airborne contact is enough to trigger reactions. I shower every evening to keep my skin as allergen free as possible. I don’t use soap every time.

IsThePopeCatholic · 03/05/2021 18:57

It’s bad for the skin to shower every day - one of the reasons for the increase in allergies, apparently . If you shower every day, you’re washing away good bacteria from the skin.

Happycat1212 · 03/05/2021 19:00

Yes every single day. I wouldn’t feel clean if I didn’t.

MrsBungle · 03/05/2021 19:01

I shower every morning. Very occasionally I’ll go a day at the weekend without a shower but I itch and feel grubby. I also wash my hair everyday. It’s really greasy by day 2 and itches. I like having clean hair.

OutspokenNotThatFunny · 03/05/2021 19:02

Yes bath or shower daily. The whole family do.
Never known different

simbobs · 03/05/2021 19:04

Shower every morning, but wash hair only every 3 days or so, as it doesn't need more. I probably only bath twice a year, though.

eurochick · 03/05/2021 19:05

I shower every morning. It makes me feel human and ready for the day. It was the first thing I wanted when I woke up after my c section and I can't remember ever feeling ill enough to skip it. I hate being able to smell myself. I sometimes run first thing in the morning and will do that before a shower (rather than have two showers an hour apart, which seems overkill) and I feel absolutely minging by the time I get back.

WomenAndVulvas · 03/05/2021 19:09

I shower every other day, every day only in summer when it's really hot.
OH does the same and never smells. (And yes, I can smell it when he stinks.)

MyNameForToday1980 · 03/05/2021 19:09

I have the sebum production of a particularly gruesome teenage boy (I'm a 41 year old woman).

So I shower every morning (unless I've got the lurgy, which is about once every 18mo, then I might fester in bed for the day).

DD (age 4) showers/bathes every night except Friday.

DH showers every day except when in a terrible hurry (about once every few months).
