Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

I'm up because the new rescue dog blagged herself into coming into the bed and she is HUGE and is taking up a lot of space, plus my partner is snoring Confused I'm also very thirsty but if I move the dog will definitely take my place so I'm trying to hold on!

Cushionsnotpillows · 31/03/2021 04:39

Hi Deena!

I'm awake because the takeaway decaf coffee I got this afternoon as a treat apparently wasn't decaf after all ... I don't do well with caffeine so I fully expect to spend some time soon on the toilet ... might help balance the calories from the slice of cake I had too ...

GoodNewsAhead · 31/03/2021 04:44

awake again as while I had a few hours of restbite awake again as body deciding to evacuate every bit of food and water that I may consume in the future. Hoping the GP agrees to send a sample off in the morning.

I'm 34 weeks and haven't slept well at any point since becoming pregnant, I hope it's good preparation Blush

UnderOverGround · 31/03/2021 04:47

I love these threads.

I'm awake as I woke up early to finish a deadline. I also had insomnia due to thinking about the deadline. Eating cereal in bed and preparing to pump myself with caffeine.

ButtonMoony · 31/03/2021 04:48

A combination of a weak bladder and sharing a bed with a teeth grinder.

UnderOverGround · 31/03/2021 04:50

@georgarina

I'm pregnant and think I'm coming down with strep throat. It's really stinging, and making me too nervous to sleep. Going to call doctor in the morning.
That sounds sore Flowers

Hello to everyone, especially the pregnant crew! I’m nearly 33 wks and baby is having a boogie so I can’t get back to sleep

MaverickDanger · 31/03/2021 04:55

Feeding DS again!

Solidarity with the pregnant crew - of its any consolation, I got more sleep with brand new DS than when I was actually pregnant!

Xiaoxiong · 31/03/2021 04:59

@UnderOverGround we can do it! I'm making good progress on my report using the pomodoro method - 15 mins of drafting, 1 min of mumsnet...

mommathatwearspink · 31/03/2021 05:04

Awake with toothache. Painkillers no longer helping. Just about ready to rip my own head off. Praying for an emergency dentist appointment ASAP.

PolytheneHam · 31/03/2021 05:16

Alarm has just gone off. Up for work. I woke about 3am and couldn't get back to sleep, just now I felt so sleepy and comfortable that I don't want to move.

DS (15mo) slept through for the first time in months.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 31/03/2021 05:20

Feeding the 8 week old. I'm really lucky because she wakes once for a feed and goes straight back to sleep. Has done basically since we brought her home, but I co sleep so I think that helps. She's my third, and I'll do anything for a decent sleep 😂. I could hardly sleep a wink while j was pregnant though. Sometimes just lay awake until I was getting up for work in the morning.

Tvscreen · 31/03/2021 05:22

Hi all! Pregnant and been up since 2am with a sore throat and runny nose. Turns out colds haven’t buggered off during the pandemic!!

YukoandHiro · 31/03/2021 05:44

Hi everyone new - and to all the pregnant women, yes aside from week 1 I've had far
More sleep with my newborns than I did when pregnant. I'm a particularly rubbish pregnant person though. Don't think I'll be doing that again.

I had a lot more sleep last night but I've been awake since 4.30 when 5mo had a feed and she hasn't really resettled since. Then the 3yo woke up, but is at least agreeing to stay in her bed for now...

Definitely get your dr to take it seriously @GoodNewsAhead - it's been a while now.

Oh no @PolytheneHam there's really nothing worse than when a toddler is sleeping well but you can't

I have a big deal going through at work today so I've been up thinking about that for two hours.

Also worried about my dms mental health. Finally allowed to visit her and she is looking about 20 years older than she is.

I hate it when my mind runs in the middle of the night.

Eminybob · 31/03/2021 06:00

Thanks @Marriagegoingtoimplode. Yeah I’ve been there almost 19 years so I have a pretty good package. But still not a great time to be looking for a new job.

Fayej777 · 31/03/2021 06:03

Up with 7 week old baby who is now sleeping peacefully in my arms. He sleeps ok during the night but doesn't really like to be put down again on his own once he wakes up for his first feed Confused

SylviaPlath1984 · 31/03/2021 06:05

My 4 year old has awoken bang on her usual time of 5:30, how does her tiny body know the same time every singles day... why is it so early!!!

GoodNewsAhead · 31/03/2021 06:10

Thanks @ YukoandHiro The plan is to ask the GP to test a sample. I had an appointment with the Walk in yesterday and obs including b lood sugar were all fine, but there were ketones in my urine. However, they felt I wasn’t too dehydrated to manage at home.

chalktheblockwithglitterchalk · 31/03/2021 06:24

The usual of being pregnant, needing a wee and then checking mumsnet 🤦‍♀️

GoodNewsAhead · 31/03/2021 07:01

@ SylviaPlath1984 if 5:30 was wake up time before and after the clock change is it possible to put bed-time an hour later to see if you can shift to the more civilised time of 6:30. Does she have any way of telling the time E.G. a grow clock?

YukoandHiro · 01/04/2021 01:27

Well I'm back here again.... woke for a night feed and now worrying about DH. We all recently had a bad cold (delivered by daughter's nursery of course) but it's set his asthma off and he feels really rough with it.
I want him to have a covid test to rule it out but he thinks that's unnecessary as we all had the cold and nobody else had any covid style stuff (it was snot based) and he and I have also both had the first vaccine more 1.5 months ago.
I guess I'll see how he looks in the morning before I review my position...
