Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

I am a awake because someone in a dream shouted "excuse me!!" really loudly.
I woke up really quickly and could hear someone walking along the landing which fully woke me up. That was an hour ago.

@ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel

Have grief counselling tomorrow morning about my dad. Bit nervous. I figure as long as I get a few hours sleep it will be ok, especially as it’s the first session.
Ah, good luck with that and sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad last June and can't really talk about it much as it's just too painful. I hope your counselling goes well xxx

4mo sleep regression. We see every hour overnight and I am exhausted.

I suspect I am in ketosis from the low carb eating plan

Dollywilde · 30/03/2021 03:07

DD has been going through an 8 month leap/sleep regression/separation anxiety thing for the last week, she’s been in our bed by 1am (and therefore me not sleeping) every night for a week. She is still asleep but my well trained brain woke me at 1am ready for her cries and now I can’t get back to sleep... given she is actually having a decent night this feels very unfair!!

Dollywilde · 30/03/2021 03:09

Oh and Flowers to all those up with smaller babies. The first few months for us were hell but it really does get easier. I’ve managed to not lose my sanity this week of bad sleep as it’s the first time I’ve really been able to rationalise that these phases really don’t last forever (even if they feel like they do at the time).

NoraLuka · 30/03/2021 03:09

@LookAtWhatYouCouldHaveWon thank you it’s nice to hear that cats can make a full recovery from this kind of thing

pheonixrebirth · 30/03/2021 03:10

I'm an introvert, however it's also my birthday so my sister and brother came over yesterday (distanced etc)but one at a time. Sister was here from 1-4 pm , then brother arrived just as she was leaving so 4-8 pm. I was just exhausted mentally by the end as I had to then cook dinner(forgotten the clocks and all that).
My Dad came over tonight with my birthday card and as much as I love him - he can be hard work! He wasn't much fun when I was young/physically abusive but he's seen the error in his ways and is now a completely different person! But we ended up in a deep conversation about old times- again draining. I'm now kind of worked up! I've just popped a melatonin pill and am praying that I can sleep but also wake up properly for the school run.

Thursa · 30/03/2021 03:13

Because it’s 8:12 pm in Colorado. I’m watching the second to last episode of Foyle's War and wondering what to watch next.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 30/03/2021 03:13

Because I'd rather be awake at night, people happen during the day.

RemoveAllPicturesOfRon · 30/03/2021 03:14

I’m awake because I have a head cold, kindly given to me by DD6 who is asleep next to me. I separated from her father three months ago, and he has been really difficult about everything - I have just taken a week of leave and the cold has hit me hard.

Strokethefurrywall · 30/03/2021 03:16

I'm awake because it's only 9.15pm here, Easter break and we were watching Jurassic world. Just sang Baby Mine to get DS2 to fall asleep, now have to maneuver DS1 out of my bed and into his own and then I can go to sleep.

Expect to be out for the count in 5.

Morgan12 · 30/03/2021 03:18

I'm awake because my child is a dick.

GoodNewsAhead · 30/03/2021 03:18

Hope all those with little ones get some sleep soon.

Does anyone know if you should take imodium with diarrhea with mucus. The nurse at out of hours said to take it but sure I have previously been told not to take it for D with mucus but would love to get some sleep.

strangestranger · 30/03/2021 03:22

I'm in South East Asia. It's the school holidays so I have a couple of weeks off work. I'm watching netflix!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 30/03/2021 03:29

@GoodNewsAhead I should definitely point that out to him. It was the way he said it too so full of himself and looking down on the rest of us for “trusting the government” Twat.

Love to you all, thanks for listening and for those with little babies it gets easier Flowers

PiersMorganBigMLittleOrgan · 30/03/2021 03:37

I don’t have to be up for work tomorrow so am indulging in my favourite hobby of watching tv late at night while DH sleeps next to me.

I usually watch the clock tick round to 1am, getting frustrated that I can’t sleep and I’m going to be knackered at work, so when I’m on leave I love to stay up as late as I like.

We need photos of the ducklings when they arrive! 🦆

LarkDescending · 30/03/2021 03:38

Woken up by heartburn - not been prone to it before but ouch!

VettiyaIruken · 30/03/2021 03:44

Just plain old insomnia. Again. 😭

moomoomummy · 30/03/2021 03:45

I am on a 3 day lockdown over in Australia. Hope you are already asleep and don't see this message. x

glasgow357 · 30/03/2021 03:48

Toothache

AlexaStop · 30/03/2021 03:49

Toddler coughed himself awake then cried because he got a fright

Baby then wanted dummy re plugged

DH snoring away oblivious to this

Confusedandshaken · 30/03/2021 03:50

I saw old friends yesterday for a socially distanced outdoor gathering of 6. I left early as it began to degenerate into a less distanced gathering of 10 but in the time I was there I drank much too much wine and it's wrecked my sleep pattern.

SanFrancisco49er · 30/03/2021 03:52

My 3 month old has been coughing in his sleep so I'm sitting with the lamp on for a few mins to make sure he's ok. He sleeps for about 10 hours a night but is a noisy, tossy turny sleeper so still wakes me up a lot!! Oh and my cat is now yelling for no reason at all, he can sense I'm awake I think...

Olaf14 · 30/03/2021 03:54

I’m feeding my six week old for the third time since eleven, with three other wake up in between. Two year old came into bed at one also. I’ve had an hours sleep if I’m lucky, while husband sleeps soundly on couch. Feel so lonely and frustrated
