Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

Just got home from work for emergency services. Hoping to be asleep by 3 and up at 7 for the school run...i definitely dont do well on much sleep but i manage.

Subordinateclause · 30/03/2021 02:31

Feeding 8 week old. @panpeter I was just thinking earlier about how poor their sleep. is the first few nights then it suddenly improves - happened with both my babies anyway and wish I'd known at the time I'd be getting some sleep soon!

Absolutelyscunnered · 30/03/2021 02:32

@dalmatianmad

Night shift, I'm a sister in A+E. Just on my break. Its been bloody horrible so far!
@dalmatianmad 💐 thanks for all you do. It’s been a hell of a year for you all. Hope you manage to get some rest once you get home.

@Sandarellas are you sure it's teething? Doesn't usually cause vomiting. Could be illness.

YellowPurple · 30/03/2021 02:36

@dalmatianmad

Please tell me cases arent rising 😬

shuuush · 30/03/2021 02:40

Can't sleep trying to build my website and am worrying about my teen daughters MH :(.
Got to be up at five too

NoraLuka · 30/03/2021 02:41

Aw the duck eggs sound adorable!

I can’t sleep because I’m thinking about my poorly cat which has been on a drip at the vets for the past 2 days after eating (we think) rat poison. She is really, really ill and I hope we get good news tomorrow.

LookAtWhatYouCouldHaveWon · 30/03/2021 02:41

I miss being awake with little ones. My youngest is nine now and although they are all still cuddly, nothing beats the baby cuddles... the weight of them on you, the baby smell.... ah, I miss it - though not enough to have another!

I'm awake due to insomnia. I can fall asleep fine, around 11ish for a few hours but i'll be awake now til about sixish then up at 8 to do the school run.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 30/03/2021 02:41

Az vaccine earlier today/yesterday now all the flu like symptoms and cannot sleep.

Still pleased I had it though.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 30/03/2021 02:41

She wants me close, otherwise I would tiptoe in to her room and sleep in her bed Grin I'll hopefully be able to catch up on some sleep tomorrow.
Big wave to the ducklings, announcement to the babies keeping their mums up: "It's wearing thin, now go to sleep!" (if you are awake with a baby or young DC, I send you so much sympathy and fellow-feeling), shout out to Dalmatian aceing A&E, and let's hope your bowels settle soon, GoodNews. Fingers crossed for a tranquil transition to sleep for all of us.

Dreamingsleeper · 30/03/2021 02:42

My baby is teething and neither of us has really been to sleep yet apart from in fits and starts. I’m still breastfeeding and he bit me hard yesterday. Feeling exhausted and a bit down with a very sore nipple! Its horrible watching the hours tick by whilst my husband snores...

drspouse · 30/03/2021 02:42

Awake for no reason but can't sleep because I made a long list yesterday of all the out of school activities that have failed my DS and now I'm upset. He has several skills and places he now won't touch because he says he's bad at them but it's because the activity providers didn't make any adjustments for him. For example his recorder class told him to leave when he was 5 because he was hiding under the table in distress. He's now 9 and says he was no good at the recorder and tells me this when we pass the school where the sessions were held.
(The list was for a clinical professional who deals with disability discrimination).

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 30/03/2021 02:44

I’ve been to sleep but I’m up because I’m seething about a conversation I had at work today and now I’m turning it over in my mind and getting more mad.

Basically the guy who I’ll be sitting next to for 9.5 hours at a time has decided he won’t be getting the vaccine “cos it’s personal choice init” “he’s never had a flu jab” “ it’s been made too quick”’and “all the European countries have banned it”

I can’t decide if I’m mad about how uneducated he is about it all or how stupid he sounded on the call or that we all have to sit next to him unprotected from him.

Honestly after all we’ve been through!

But he can’t wait to have his birthday abroad and go to the pub and see his dad who is in his 80s Hmm

I need to let it go though don’t I - me seething isn’t going to help matters and I’ll be a cranky cow in the morning

Our cat did something similar last year - he ate a rat that had just eaten rat poison - he was very poorly too, but after a few days on a drip was fine thankfully and is now curled up on DH's chest purring in time to his snores. I hope your moggy makes a really good recovery very soon xxx
Jellybean81 · 30/03/2021 02:49

24 weeks pregnant - aching legs, aching hips and sore bump. Also got work to do list running through my head. I'm exhausted though so should try to sleep.

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:50

@Dreamingsleeper Multi mam nipple compresses will sort you.

I've also not slept yet due to baby and husband's snoring and I need to be up at 6.30

OP posts:
123rd · 30/03/2021 02:50

Not really a reason why I'm awake. I don't tend to need a lot now a days but do go thru cycles of needing even less. I don't have caffeine , not stressed. Do need to be up about 7 so should really get to sleep but am just not sleepy yet

ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 30/03/2021 02:54

Have grief counselling tomorrow morning about my dad. Bit nervous. I figure as long as I get a few hours sleep it will be ok, especially as it’s the first session.

Kiffers · 30/03/2021 02:55

Just fed my 12 week old son - he’s sleeping 4 hours stretches at the moment so can’t complain too much! I feel for those out there who are worrying about things and not able to sleep - hoping you all get some rest at some point 😳🐣🍀

GoodNewsAhead · 30/03/2021 02:55

I would be irritated if a colleague chose not to have.the vaccine and openly said it. Hopefully your own vaccine will give you enough protection. How is your colleague generally when ill, wondering which they would prefer the vaccine or COVID.

Lemonandlime123 · 30/03/2021 02:57

Feeding my 4 month old!

ThebirdsAndBeesWhereThere · 30/03/2021 02:57

Fucking urine infection.

Need to be up at 6 for work.

Flowers to you all.

Sandarellas · 30/03/2021 02:58

@YukoandHiro she’s like this with each tooth only we sometime get a bit of relief from the coughing. She’s dribbling like mad and no temp or anything. She’s not a sleeper usually but we’re sitting here watching hey Duggie so it’ll be zombie work mode tomorrow. At a complete loss of how to help her. Still breastfeeding too so hubby isn’t any help 😭😭😭

Sunbird24 · 30/03/2021 02:58

An alarm has started going off outside somewhere. I don’t want to close my window as I get too hot. Also I don’t think it’s my car but I don’t want to get up and dressed to go out and check
