Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

My dog needed a wee and i heard him having another drink, which means he may need more water- to spill all over the floor. Hmm

cultkid · 30/03/2021 04:01

I'm stressed and I've been coming off painkillers

My sleep is poor in general but always worse when is stop opiates

Amdone123 · 30/03/2021 04:01

We all went to sleep 8.30pm ish. The house was so quiet. I woke about an hour ago. Wide awake. It's either insomnia, or as I'm getting older (53, menopause related?). My dog is snoring, and my son and granddaughter are fast asleep, my OH fell asleep on the couch, and I am feeling trapped ( I want to get up, drink tea, clean the kitchen, but don't want to wake anyone). So, I will just lie here.
I was feeling down, but hearing everyone's issues has made me feel shallow, and appreciate how great my life is, so thank you.
I hope all your babies let you sleep, and for all of you struggling with MH issues and bereavement, I hope it gets better.

25 weeks pregnant and stressed re work. Have 2 meetings with my boss tomorrow and 1 presentation that’s still not written. Should be writing it now rather than looking for distractions but have lost all motivation. Can only blame myself and imposter syndrome.

NatalieH2220 · 30/03/2021 04:05

My 4mo is bunged up and it woke him up. Just waiting for him to nod back off before I go back to sleep too.

SimonJT · 30/03/2021 04:10

My little boy got in my bed at 2amish, not unusual he does it most nights, he has an ear infection at the moment so that hurts and he has a fever, so he thrashes about when hes asleep. I was just getting settled and the cat started making a noise and knocking things off a shelf, which then made the dog go nuts.

SATSmadness · 30/03/2021 04:10

menopause !

WellTidy · 30/03/2021 04:11

Brain too active. It stated because I was thirsty (work going on here and there is probably loads of dust) and then I started making a mental to do list, and on it went from there. I’ve been awake since 3am and I can’t see myself wanting to sleep anytime soon. Unfortunately both DC are likely to wake if I do anything that involves any noise at all, so I can’t get much on my to do list done!

TangerineGreen · 30/03/2021 04:15

I had a job interview yesterday and was successful! Wooo. I’m awake as my brain wants to replay all the tricky questions to see if I can answer them now... it’s ok brain I got the job!
Nice to read everyone’s stories and be part of this little secret club for a bit before the world wakes up. 💐 to you all

FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/03/2021 04:19

My cat woke me up grumbling at the next door neighbours cat who has moved in, now listening to The Archers Omnibus

choosername1234 · 30/03/2021 04:22

My almost 5 month old almost certainly has covid and is feeling unwell so is feeding / sleeping on me / crying / sleeping etc in a cycle

Callingallbutterflies · 30/03/2021 04:25

I am too busy at work. My to do list is swirling around my head. Sometimes this is helpful as much needed clarity appears out of this thinking time. I need an early start today anyway. I WFH so I will get to my desk in an hour or so to start another 12 hour slog. I hope all the babies settle down and get a reasonable stint of sleep in (I remember it well) and that the ducklings have arrived!

StripedLeopard · 30/03/2021 04:26

I've got frozen shoulder and the pain woke me up

Comeondelicious · 30/03/2021 04:27

Full moon? PMS? Sad at my life. Big dog in bed snores & kicks me out so he has DP to himself... x sweet dreams to you x

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 04:33

Solidarity to all those lying next to, or in another room from, oblivious snoring DHs.

I'm feeding my 5mo YET AGAIN. Have had a wonderful total of 2 hours sleep so far.... ugh. Just keep reminding myself it's all a phase.

Amusingly I changed DD's nappy and went to the toilet before I started this feed and popped her into the fed while I went as she bit DH's fingers really hard (she already has 2 teeth), so that made me chuckle

DareIask · 30/03/2021 04:36

I'm in the spare room to escape snoring husband. Didn't draw the curtains and am lying here in brilliant moonlight. Our house is on a steep hill and we have big windows so I can see for miles. I often lie wondering who is is awake and what they're doing.

I found the sleepless nights with little ones so hard, so sympathy to you all.

TalkToTheWind · 30/03/2021 04:39

Combination of indigestion, menopause and DHs colostomy bag needing to be replaced. And from the sounds coming from his side of the bed it will need replacing again soon. We had a takeaway curry last night..🥺

daisiesanddaffodils · 30/03/2021 04:43

Are you okay olaf?

I’m holding 3 and a half month old ds - waiting for an opportune moment to sneak him back into his crib.

Mumtimes2 · 30/03/2021 04:44

@TopBitchoftheWitches

Az vaccine earlier today/yesterday now all the flu like symptoms and cannot sleep.

Still pleased I had it though.

Me too, I think the chills are the worst but so far. I have a fever too. I’m taking paracetamol. It works for a short time, then it’s back to shivering again,
MilkshakeandChips5 · 30/03/2021 04:49

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and seem to wake at 4am every night without fail! Can never get back to sleep!

TopBitchoftheWitches · 30/03/2021 04:51

Yep still awake. Took a paracetamol about and hour ago which was ok for a little while now back to shivers and aching.

I've messaged my team leader I'm not working today and to move my work to tomorrow which she will be ok with.

I hope you don't have to work as well.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 30/03/2021 04:52

That was to mumtimes2, thought in i quoted you but obviously not.

Happymum12345 · 30/03/2021 04:58

My dog woke me up needing to let outside. Can’t go back to sleep. Babies not sleeping is exhausting but it will get easier.

Misspacorabanne · 30/03/2021 05:07

To locate D's (10 months) dummy for him, usually falls through his cot bars on to the carpet, and secretly hoping that will settle him for now and I won't need to take him down for a night feed. He mainly sleeps through but sometimes needs a milk to settle back down. So to all you ladies feeding tiny babies, it does get easier. Enjoy those cuddles for now! To everybody else, I hope you manage some more sleep! Smile

DarkishBlue · 30/03/2021 05:08

Insomnia, usually. But last night I was so knackered I went to sleep at 10pm and amazingly slept right through till 4am. Longest sleep I've had in years. Would like to get on with some jobs now but that might disturb others, so meh.
