Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

And the last of my wine wasn't going to drink itself

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 07:55

Great to see everyone's nights. Hope those feeling ill or with poorly children are feeling better.

Lambing ! What a lovely way to spend the night. Although not much different from night feeds I guess.

Are the baby ducklings hatched yet? 🐥

@HamFisted Yes, I remember... lovely to see you again. How's it all going? I'm finding it much easier and more joyful second time round; far less anxiety and lots more space to enjoy the snuggles. Though I can't wait for lockdown to be over and to be able to get out to some groups

@YukoandHiro can't complain in the main, though my eldest is younger than yours so not in school yet and quite demanding at times. Baby is a lot easier though. Going to groups will be lovely.

Floralnomad · 30/03/2021 17:40

@NoraLuka any news on your poorly cat ?

NoraLuka · 30/03/2021 18:47

@Floralnomad unfortunately poor cat died in the night 😭

She was fine and then about an hour later literally started twisting around in pain, shaking and foaming at the mouth. I’ve never seen anything like it and hope I never do again. We took her to the out of hours vet at about 1AM on Saturday and she stayed there on a drip for the last couple of days. I don’t think anything more could have been done but I feel sick at the thought of it. I feel like I should be doing something to warn everyone of the dangers of rat poison! Don’t even know where she found the rat poison 😔

Floralnomad · 30/03/2021 18:50

@NoraLuka what a sad outcome , sorry for your loss 💐

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 19:02

I'm so sorry to hear that @NoraLuka - you poor thing

Thank you for your messages xx

Frownette · 30/03/2021 19:47

@NoraLuka that's horrible. You were with her to the end. Cats will be cats and they lick things, you can't tell them not to. It's not nice to witness if something goes wrong.

GoodNewsAhead · 31/03/2021 02:40

So sorry to hear that @nuraluka You clearly cared for her and got her the right medical attention. Its incredibly sad and cats are curious beings who will get themselves into bother. Did she go out of the house?

LookAtWhatYouCouldHaveWon · 31/03/2021 03:05

Oh norahluke, I'm so very sorry. I had hoped there would be a better outcome for her xxx

SionnachGlic · 31/03/2021 03:22

Because its 7.19PM in Southern California & sitting enjoying the sunshine with nice glass of chilled white wine. But I'll be awake later & tormented with the need for sleep when I should be asleep already

kittensarecute · 31/03/2021 03:34

My mental health isn't brilliant at the moment so I can't sleep.

wineandsunshine · 31/03/2021 03:42

Insomnia possibly?

It's nearly the end of Spring term and I'm already feeling the pressure of having to write school reports and planning! I want a break over Easter but my head is overthinking it.

Marriagegoingtoimplode · 31/03/2021 03:42

@kittensarecute sorry to hear that you are struggling. 💐 and 🤗

Smile3 · 31/03/2021 03:43

My 2 year old thinks its playtime Hmm

popspops · 31/03/2021 03:48

I've got a broken wrist and it is itching .

Eminybob · 31/03/2021 03:49

I have a meeting tomorrow which I believe is going to be to announce redundancies in my role. I’ve not slept very well since the invitation landed in my inbox on Monday Sad

@Eminybob so sorry to hear about that, the timing is bloody awful. No wonder you are on edge and can’t sleep. Have you been with the company long enough so the redundancy can “see you through” until you find another job? Either way it’s still an incredibly stressful experience.
Xiaoxiong · 31/03/2021 04:07

Got a big report to write and never get the time during the day with other work stuff and the kids at home for Easter hols, and no holiday clubs running. Too tired in the evening so I went to bed early and got up at 4am with a vat of coffee 🥱

Marriagegoingtoimplode · 31/03/2021 04:16

@Xiaoxiong hope the coffee gets you through things and you get the report done on time without too many interruptions.

Deena07 · 31/03/2021 04:24

I hope everyone from yesterday managed to get some sleep!

Those that are ill or have someone that is ill or recovering, I hope they get better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about the death of the kitty. Flowers
Animals are such a huge part of my life, so I know how hard it is to loose a beloved family member.

I understand and can completely sympathise with those with Mental health issues or struggling to sleep, I hope you improve soon, don't be afraid to contact/recontact your doctor if you are feeling worse or no change!

I hope the ducks are okay, don't remember seeing an update?

I'm currently up as my partner was fidgeting, after an hour, I couldn't take it any longer, I think he was trying his best not to snore, as he seems to have taken up snoring and talking in his sleep recently, it wouldn't surprise me if it was stress related and that is how it is coming out. Think he was focusing so much on not snoring tonight, that he just couldn't settle. I rarely sleep through the night anyway, no matter what time I try and sleep, my body just jolts awake after a few hours. But I make up for it at the weekends sometimes, might be the stress of the week and along side the snoring from my partner and probably amongst other things.
I blame this site tonight though, which is why I am still awake.
I'm usually a quick lurker, have a quick look but not confident enough to share, answer or advise.
But I took the plunge tonight and hello here I am Grin

memberofthewedding · 31/03/2021 04:29

Im a night person. Always have been, though now in my 70s. I run an internet company and most of my customers are American so I need to be online when they are asking things. Im now just winding down and thinking of going to bed. I will sleep until about 10 am. I dont need much sleep anyway. We older folks often make do with 4/5 hours at night and a nap pm.

georgarina · 31/03/2021 04:37

I'm pregnant and think I'm coming down with strep throat. It's really stinging, and making me too nervous to sleep. Going to call doctor in the morning.
