I'm not saying what this relates to and I'd ask everybody who knows not to say either for obvious legal reasons but I just wanted to post that I feel v sad about the news tonight.
I know there are posters who will be personally affected and just wanted to say my thoughts are with all who've loved and lost tonight. I wish it was otherwise.

ThanksThanksThanks

This is being discussed on R4 now (violence against women). Balance against the earlier interview where we were told to stop being silly girls because more men are murdered (by a female academic in criminology or something?)

I suspect that you won't find evidence of a charge that has had to be abandoned because of gossip on MN because MN are generally pretty hot on deleting posts that are potentially in contempt of court. @Haffiana's blithe assumption that contempt of court isn't a problem and the sub juice rules will never be enforced is really extraordinary.

"But the mans name, job and exactly where he worked, and as what, his picture and his house have already been in the paper and in news outlets."

It's outrageous that the details are out there already.

If the details were not already out there, there would be nothing for folk to speculate on🤷

Speculation, gossip, assumptions and rumours are very different to details & facts.

"Speculation, gossip, assumptions and rumours are very different to details & facts."

Try telling that to others who can't grasp this concept.

Tell me about it! There are a few on this thread!

It's a shame because if others could follow chat guidelines, these threads would stay and not be removed.

"But the mans name, job and exactly where he worked, and as what, his picture and his house have already been in the paper and in news outlets." Have the media learned nothing from the Joanna Yeates murder?

In the eyes of the press, and likely many of the public including many on here, he is already guilty, and yet he hasn’t actually ben charged yet let alone convicted.

If it turns out he isn’t charged and is released he will become the target of a witch hunt purely because his name will have been out there.

SpringSunshineandTulips · 11/03/2021 17:31

They haven’t identified the body as hers though? It could be someone else. Sounds like it’s been there for a while?

Nith · 11/03/2021 18:20

I'm afraid it sounds as if they must be pretty certain who it is that they have found. I think they've told her family? I don't think they would do that unless they were sure.

I've noticed some outlets have given up blurring out his wife's face as well, and even named her. I know these photos are probably on social media for anyone to find anyway, but it still seems wrong for a woman not accused of anything to be plastered on the front pages like that.
Brunt0n · 11/03/2021 18:22

@user127819 is the wife not the woman arrested for helping him like?

Maybe or maybe not, but either way, she hasn't been named in connection with the case.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/03/2021 18:43

My reading of this from the online papers last night was that it was the wife. Or maybe I assumed...

Wellthatwassilly · 11/03/2021 19:13

@user127819 she has been named

blowinahoolie · 11/03/2021 19:22

More information about him in the news tonight.
