I'm not saying what this relates to and I'd ask everybody who knows not to say either for obvious legal reasons but I just wanted to post that I feel v sad about the news tonight.
I know there are posters who will be personally affected and just wanted to say my thoughts are with all who've loved and lost tonight. I wish it was otherwise.

Why is OP saying "posters who will be personally affected" ?
MNers who know the persons at heart of this story personally?
Or lots of MNers live in that same area of London.
Or lots of MNers are cops.

ime, it's the idea that 'one of our own' maybe did anything so evil that will drive cops crazy. Or that such a bad person was a colleague.

Perhaps then my point was that I hadn't, so didn't know what the OP was about.

lljkk what an odd response. I’m glad the op made this thread. There may well be MNetters who know her or live in the area who are in pain and shock right now. We don’t all want to speculate but many women will be feeling utter despair tonight. As others have said, that could have been us, our daughters, granddaughters.

As a mum to 3 young adult daughters, this tonight has made me feel really sick to my stomach.

I've been reading about this in Ireland, and it still feels like more than a news story. It gives me a chill because of who it is reported is responsible. Horrible. Can women not feel safe ever.
