I'm not saying what this relates to and I'd ask everybody who knows not to say either for obvious legal reasons but I just wanted to post that I feel v sad about the news tonight.
I know there are posters who will be personally affected and just wanted to say my thoughts are with all who've loved and lost tonight. I wish it was otherwise.

ThanksThanksThanks

Really sad. A few years back now a woman who looked an awfully lot like this poor woman gave me a business card when I was arguing with a then bf outside Clapham Jct station.
She was really kind and tried to get me to walk with her, I think I was around 18 but I didn't as I thought he was "the one".
I've never forgotten that because it was so kind that a stranger took interest in seeing if I was ok and trying to get me away from him. I need to find that card now.

I feel so utterly sad that this is the outcome. Her poor family. It is just horrific news.

Haffiana · 10/03/2021 21:53

@HeathIns

Haffiana Why do you say that?
Because MN are not working for the defence legal team. Because newspapers and media are not working for the defence legal team.

MN will take stuff down if MN are threatened or in danger for allowing defamation or something similar that MN can be legally served with.

MissDollyMix · 10/03/2021 21:53

This feels very close to home for me. I feel so sad for her and her poor, poor family.

FlibbertyGiblets · 10/03/2021 21:53

@MrsPnut

Tomorrow in Parliament Jess Phillips will read out the names of all the women killed by men in the last 12 months. The list is only finalised at the very last minute because unfortunately women are killed by men every day. 25 women were murdered by men in January and February this year, that is on average 3 women a week. Male violence is the problem that no-one in power wants to tackle.
Drives it home, doesn't it. Naming dead women, counting them, finding the weekly average of femicide. Men kill women because they can. Do we still have to caveat with Not My Nigel, NAMALT?
mommybear1 · 10/03/2021 21:54

So sad to hear this news my thoughts are with her family.

DavidsSchitt · 10/03/2021 21:55

"Attention.

Grief-vulturing.

Rubber-necking.

It's a sad evening. You can be sad about it without posting threads on the internet which could cause further distress."

Quite.

SunshineCake · 10/03/2021 21:55

Flowers. Just so sad.

toocold54 · 10/03/2021 21:57

Threads that speculated about the arrest, a possible link to the victim, wild conspiracy theories about friends and family - all could jeopardise a trial so were deleted

I did not realise you couldn’t talk about these things! I have seen many threads about crimes whether they have been taken to trial or not. I think people were posting at the same time the Madeline McCann documentary was on tv discussing their opinions on what happened.

Ashard20 · 10/03/2021 21:58

@Trumplosttheelection
I know there are posters who will be personally affected and just wanted to say my thoughts are with all who've loved and lost tonight. I wish it was otherwise.
The op was simply sending a message of condolence to the posters who have commented previously on other threads, who knew SE.
I really don't know why anyone who didn't know what she meant didn't just bypass the thread, rather than coming on and being argumentative in some way.
I agree with you, op. It is desperately sad, in particularly shocking circumstances. I I also offer my thoughts and condolences to anyone on here who knew her.
Surely that's a meaningful advantage of a forum such as this? So many times we hear sad stories in the news and don't have the opportunity to connect and empathise with those who are affected. If you can't quietly and respectfully reflect on this poor woman's untimely and horrible death, then just avoid the thread. It obviously wasn't a soap box for accusations of grief-hijacking etc.

HeathIns · 10/03/2021 21:58

THIS. See quote.

In most cases the killer is known to the victim. I know you shouldn’t trust anyone but there’s certain professions you hope you can.

Trumplosttheelection · 10/03/2021 22:01

some people get rather uptight that 'speculating' about stuff will get trials to be halted - except that it never actually happens.

Namechange2790 · 10/03/2021 22:02

I’ve name changed to post this as it’s a little outing, but I live in the same parish that the remains have been found, and I heard the helicopters go over this afternoon and I feel incredibly uncomfortable this evening.
My thoughts are 100% with her friends and family this evening Flowers absolutely devastating

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 10/03/2021 22:02

Utterly devastating news.

Exactly - @HeathIns you can’t shut down every conversation on the internet, this thread is one of hundreds. Your little “mission” is redundant
Ashard20 · 10/03/2021 22:03

@Trumplosttheelection
You are very welcome. Thank you for your kind gesture.

AngeloMysterioso · 10/03/2021 22:03

A friend of a friend. Heartbroken. Had been hoping so desperately for a different outcome.

Are you sure about that? Not sure where you got that information from. The whole jury can be dismissed and replaced. It happens. Trials have been delayed for this very reason.

They kill more men though don't they?

Schoolisback1973 · 10/03/2021 22:05

This is just round the corner from me. Utter shock and sadness for her and family. May she rest in peaceThanksThanks
