This morning I was worried about bringing in my emptied recycling boxes in case the neighbours thought I'd forgotten to put them out
This is clearly lunacy. I have never cared in my life about what anyone else thinks
Anyone else? Please tell me I'm not alone in my madness!

DS 16 has been forcing us to play Monopoly every night since Christmas. I dreaded it for the first thirty days, now I actively set it up and gather us around earlier and earlier to play it. I don't like Monopoly.

DH and I had to choose patio stones today at an outdoor yard. Felt like a hot date despite being 8am and pissing down. We were out together in the car!

QueenPaw · 21/02/2021 00:17

I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole and now all my flannels and towels are folded neatly
I'm contemplating starting on my wardrobe and doing the same

I live near enough to a vaccine centre to walk there in about 15 minutes. No way was I going to do that when I could drive a 40 mile round trip to the one in the next city and incorporate a trip to Waitrose.

Now thinking I can pull the same stunt with my opticians’ appointment.

SingleHandSue · 21/02/2021 00:48

Well I know lockdown has mashed my brain after needing to use the calculator on my phone to add 25 and 17 earlier Blush

And I only used my calculator because I didn’t want DH to see me adding on my fingers.

VampireTheBuffetSlayer · 21/02/2021 00:55

I shaved my legs, armpits and bikini line in the shower this morning, then put on foundation and mascara (I didn't bother with lipstick because mask). The special event? Taking DDog to the vets.

55larry · 21/02/2021 09:54

I am off to the podiatrist tomorrow so that is an outing as I have been advised to shield and normally I would have gone to the supermarket as well but for the time being I can’t. I never thought I would miss going to a supermarket.

dementedma · 21/02/2021 10:11

I started weeding the garden yesterday. Can't believe the day came when that seemed pleasurable

I couldn't live with the flannels arranged like that! I'd have to have all the white ones together - possibly in the top left corner. Can I come over and show you how it's done? Smile
QueenPaw · 21/02/2021 10:56

@ImpassiveVoice you're more than welcome to do the wardrobe Grin that's a full day job
No worrying - the pale ones have actually been moved now as I found some more dark grey ones to fit in so had more blissful folding to do Grin

MuchTooTired · 21/02/2021 11:12

The kids and I haven’t left the house for nearly a year. It’s now part of our routine to sit out and watch the sun rise, do gardening and I have taken up repetitive hoovering as something to do and bread making.

I hate early mornings and gardening.

Two days ago it wasn’t even 10am and I had literally run out of things to do with the kids and there were hours until bedtime.

I have to go for a scan tomorrow, and I’m a confused jumble of being excited to see other human beings and terrified of seeing other human beings at the same time.

I don’t understand life so much anymore!

BruceAndNosh · 21/02/2021 11:14

@Saz12

I’ve just finished hand-knitting a rug. I’ve not knitted anything since I was about 8, and hated it then. The rug looks shit.
I've just dug out my knitting Needles. The last time I knitted was 25 years ago on Night Duty. Why do I even still have them?
Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 21/02/2021 11:28

I've been reading this thread out to DH and DD.
DD thinks is very exciting and wants to hear more.
DH is displaying robust mental health by being very bored by it.

It's more than I have achieved, tbh!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 21/02/2021 12:04

@alliejay81

When I started to empathise with Rapunzel in Tangled.

Hair that won't stop growing, done all the chores by 7am, locked inside, life on hold... I have DH so at least I have no need of a Flynn Ryder character!

Also, to carry on the craft theme I've taken up cross stitch... it requires virtually no talent and is almost impossible to go wrong which is needed for any craft I partake in!!

I've been cross stitching for over 30 years.

I have spent this morning unpicking a bloody bird that I stitched in the wrong place.🤦🏻‍♀️😡

At least I have until the end of never plenty of time on my hands to re-stitch it.

RelaisBlu · 21/02/2021 12:11

ginandwineandbaileys You can have ours - we certainly won't be doing it again Grin

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 21/02/2021 12:18

Some of you are leading a much more exciting life than I am. sigh

MutteringDarkly · 21/02/2021 12:26

I'm going to teach DD to endure enjoy craft. That should take a good few years. This is not what you'd call playing to her strengths but I've pointed out if her hands can cope with a Nintendo switch controller she can handle a crochet hook. I wonder which lucky family member might get a wonky coaster by Christmas?

I've almost run out of things to mend and decorate, so needs must.

Normally, I only have a passing interest in travel/holiday programs. But last night, both DH and I were both absolutely transfixed by a travel show about France. We barely breathed for the whole 30 minutes, we were so greedy for it. I'm only surprised that DH didn't drop his trousers and start wanking.

We have both been to France. We don't like it.

Silkies · 21/02/2021 13:39

I said to DH there are rumours self-catering cottages will be allowed from Easter. Now there's a risk of close contact isolations for the kids for the first 10 days of Easter but there's still the last 4 days of Easter.

There's a self-catering cottage which would be a 5 hour drive plus 2 hour ferry plus traffic so maybe 9 hours each way for 2 nights available. But first day we would land at 12pm and then may have 4 hours in the rain with nothing open and last day we may have 7 hours in the rain with nothing open which only leaves one day in which it may also rain and nothing will be open but at least we can be in the cottage that day. Do you think we should book it DH? Yes says DH.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 21/02/2021 14:01

In normal times I hate shopping, especially in large shopping centres and dept stores and all my friends know this. I told my friend on the 'phone yesterday that I can't wait to drive to Bluewater, Ikea and Dunelm - she was speechless.

I have been talking to my boiler telling him how wonderful he is for keeping me warm and providing lots of lovely hot water. I keep telling him "it's just you and me now kid ". I may have to name change now Blush

sueelleker · 21/02/2021 14:25

@EssentialHummus

Packing lentils into brown paper bags is another popular task.
You could make the job last longer by counting them in-20,000, 20,001...
sueelleker · 21/02/2021 14:35

@Silkies

Thanks Prok I've managed to come up with loads of projects we could get done on house plus I have 2 tax returns and some tidying / cleaning to do.

I can get the stairs altered so we can get the third bedroom put back in the old lady before us took out, then I can get the boiler changed to a combi boiler and get the hot water tank removed and built in cupboards put in, I can get the kitchen old cooker taken out and a new one put in and the fridge and freezer moved into the kitchen and dishwasher and units painted and new worktop put in. Then we can make utility room into a laundry room and add a shower to the downstairs bathroom. And this will require me to fill in loads of forms as we are grade II listed conservation area. It's amazing how many projects you can come up with when you have nothing else to do. Our neighbour also wants the fence redone. DD also added she can have a new floor.

Just a few light jobs then Grin
RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 21/02/2021 15:30

DH could do with a couple of new T-shirt's.

I am planning a full on wardrobe overhaul with hours of online shopping as research.

peaceanddove · 21/02/2021 18:54

I fell down a rabbit hole of towel folding techniques, and now every towel in the house looks like a piece of sculptural art. I messaged my friend with the link and she was very excited, but struggled to get the final tuck neat enough. I have just Face Timed her and done a slo mo demonstration and she's cracked it.
