This morning I was worried about bringing in my emptied recycling boxes in case the neighbours thought I'd forgotten to put them out
This is clearly lunacy. I have never cared in my life about what anyone else thinks
Anyone else? Please tell me I'm not alone in my madness!

When you spot a dead, headless wood pigeon on your walk and rather than subtely steer the 3.5 year old past without her seeing it, decide it’s a “circle of life” type teaching moment and then realise (with a slight thrill because it will take up time and be slightly, er, different) that you’re going to have to do something with said wood pigeon. We ceremonially carried the poor thing on DHs shovel to some bushes in the field opposite, all speculating which animal might find it as it’s dinner. Sounds grim but the unexpected excitement on yet another bloody walk had us all feeling a certain buzz that I never knew a headless pigeon could deliver.

(DD was not traumatised just very very interested)

I folded all of our bags for life into those little triangles, watched the video tutorial and everything.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 20/02/2021 22:42

These are making me laugh so much, thank you all Grin

I’ve been working throughout, but that’s all. I’ve been out to a supermarket twice in the last year and I’m eagerly planning my next trip. I’m going to inventory the cupboards and everything. And meal plan in advance.

A burger van appeared in our car park this week. I was so excited I ordered too much, we were eating it for 3 days.

I consult the dog on what I should wear on our walks. I’d ask the parrot too, but he’s a right sarcastic bastard I’ve been wearing the same scruffs for a year. (I do wash them... when I’m in the pyjamas)

@DamsonDress

Going Out, even to the shops, is quite the event these days.

So much so I can put on a full face of make-up and do my hair to pick up milk and bread.

The other day I had to take car to the garage and go to the shop. I genuinely wondered for a moment if I'd made TOO much of an effort. Was I too fabulous? Then I realised simply washing my hair and wearing my best leggings and a clean hoodie was unlikely to turn heads or stop traffic.

Yes - this! Down to the am I too fabulous because I was wearing foundation.

And jodhpurs and a top covered in hire hair. But they were my best jodhpurs.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 20/02/2021 22:48

Oooh, and I broke out a new pair of joggers last week to take the dog out in the freezing cold. That WAS exciting.

highheeledhattie · 20/02/2021 22:49

Ah, thank you. This made us laugh.

DogsnKids · 20/02/2021 22:50

I saw an argument!!! Between a cyclist and a driver, I was walking my dog and crept as close to them as possible to listen. I was thrilled and very excited. I've told everyone I know, I couldn't hear them properly but it's still the most excitement I've had in a year. I hoped they would call the police and then I could have watched them too!

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 22:57

My phone contract ended yesterday and I didn’t even notice. My line has been disconnected and I have no service to make calls and no mobile data! 2019 me wouldn’t have been able to cope. 2021 me isn’t fussed as I’m not going anywhere and can use WiFi until my new sim arrives, quite sad really

Sidge · 20/02/2021 23:11

I’m a nurse practitioner and am working as usual. I do lots of women's health and smears type stuff.

This week I had three or four women come in for their smears literally skipping. They’d all dressed up a bit and told me they’d been so excited to wear some makeup, shave their legs etc. I said they didn’t need to do that on my behalf but they all protested they needed to do it for theirs 😁😁

I also did a phone consultation for a pill check and said I really needed to check her blood pressure, did she have a machine or could she come in, and started my “it’s really safe and we’re Covid secure” spiel. She cut me off and said “please please PLEASE can I come in?” 🤣

RelaisBlu · 20/02/2021 23:19

Youngest DD & I did a jigsaw - I haven't done a jigsaw since DDs were kids (she's 25 now). Lots of tricky sky & flowers and we were semi-hysterical by the time we finished

BirdyBee · 20/02/2021 23:31

I portioned up 2 boxes of ready brek and 1 box of cereal into lots of small plastic boxes, weighed each portion out on my scales, my autistic DS said tomorrow we could portion up the pasta!

SummerHouse · 20/02/2021 23:32

We play the yes / no game for an hour every evening. Please send thoughts and prayers.

horridhorrid · 20/02/2021 23:34

@doubleshotespresso

I've just had (& won fwiw) a full on argument with DP about the fact that Fiona Bruce wore trainers to host Question Time last night.... he's gone very quiet and just made himself a tea Grin
I could have helped you with that one - I went to the filming of an Antiques Roadshow and she was wearing trainers.
IrishCharm · 20/02/2021 23:37

I came upstairs earlier today to put clean pyjamas on - for no other reason than I felt like it 😆

NoseOfJericho · 20/02/2021 23:43

I keep eyeing up the bowel testing kit I have been sent but am saving for something to do later.

ginandwineandbaileys · 20/02/2021 23:44

I've to go for my Covid vacc on Thursday. I'm going to park in the shopping centre multi storey car park, and walk past all the empty shops. m and S is open, I might go in and look around. I'm beyond excited. As is my 11 year old dd, who has to come with me

I seriously considering buying a jigsaw. My children are not keen, but I don't care
newcarcoming · 20/02/2021 23:49

DH went to town last weekend with DD to shop for my birthday presents. He had no idea the shops were shut!!

heidipi · 20/02/2021 23:51

I look forward to getting up at 5.30am to work 3 days a week because I get 3 WHOLE HOURS TO MYSELF. As well as the work there are snacks and podcasts and I love it.

Originalusername2021 · 20/02/2021 23:51

You read this thread thinking it might give you some inspiration for things to do 😂

I’ve also discovered that introvert is not the same as recluse and i actually miss going to the office 😱

Augustwhatacrapname · 20/02/2021 23:56

I'm loving Fiona Bruce wearing trainers 🥰

Taking longer than is needed to collect the Aldi click & collect just to have a few minutes TO MYSELF!

Originalusername2021 · 21/02/2021 00:10

@NoseOfJericho that’s so kind of you Grin

fourquenelles · 21/02/2021 00:12

I have my first jab on Monday and the clinic is a 10 minute bus ride away. I am giddy with excitement of the thought of my mini adventure.
