Does anybody else feel like crap due to the heat?

Von1986 · 08/08/2020 22:42

I'm a very pale person and don't bode well when it's this hot. I'm in London where we've had absolutely roasting, humid weather.

My flat becomes sauna-like and no amount of having the fan on or opening window's makes a difference.

For days I've felt completely drained, weak and nauseous.

I'm not moaning, I'm glad people take joy from the sun, I'm just wondering if anybody else finds they've been feeling very bleugh too?

Fellow pasty-faced limp rag of a woman here. It's a struggle, OP.

Evenstar · 08/08/2020 22:49

Yes, my husband was quite worried about me this morning as I felt very ill due to the heat. It is partly lack of sleep and partly that I seem to have very little tolerance for the heat since starting the peri-menopause in my early forties. I get dizzy, nauseous and it affects my asthma so I am short of breath too.

We live in an Edwardian house with single skin bricks on the top floor so our bedroom walls actually radiate heat all night when it is as hot as this.

I can’t bear the thought of another day of this tomorrow 😭

grafittiartist · 08/08/2020 22:50

I had a headache all yesterday because of the temperature- horrible.

ohthegoats · 08/08/2020 22:51

I feel like shit today. Awful headache, sick.. have just been flapping around doing tidying slowly. I haven't felt that hot, but clearly there is something going on with pressure or something. Think it's due to break on Tuesday, which seems a long way away. Nurofen for tomorrow then!

HappydaysArehere · 08/08/2020 22:52

Find it exhausting. Keep wandering around saying to my dh “don’t you ever suggest living in ‘a place in the sun’ “.

twentiethcentury · 08/08/2020 22:52

Is very windy all of a sudden here, hoping it breaks tonight!

Von1986 · 08/08/2020 22:55

Oh I've found my people, solidarity.

I truly feel for you all. My DH had to do the food shopping today straight after work as I've just felt too weak to be productive.

I leapt off the sofa to wrestle a crayon from DS as he was making a bee line for the wooden tv unit again and damn near blacked out from dizziness.

It's definitely the weather. This happens whenever we have a heatwave.

I would do a rain dance if I could find the strength..

Oh god yes. I have a genetic condition that means I can’t regulate temperature well. Anything over 20 I’m literally dripping wet and feel weak and exhausted . Anything under about 8 and I feel sick from the cold. I hate most weather .

YgritteSnow · 08/08/2020 23:01

I feel weak, sick and drained in this heat and it induces panic attacks. Absolutely hate this weather and check the bbc weather app constantly for signs that's it's going to cool down.

MulticolourMophead · 08/08/2020 23:04

I am feeling a bit better this evening, but yes, both DS and I are feeling crap due to the heat. I mean, I end up doing garding after about 8pm as the sun has moved round by then and it's less of a problem. I have a fan in the bedroom, wearing the fewest clothes possible around the house, while still being decent, and so on.

Getting up early tomorrow to do some essential stuff outdoors before it gets too warm for me.

DS, well he's a healthy lad of 16, but he, too, suffers from the heat. He's taken to wearing just underpants around the house (I do have nets, people can't see in) but he does put shorts and tshirts on when people come around.

And my dad is like this too, seems it runs in the family. Except for DD, it's never too warm for her (and, to be fair, she suffers from Raynaud's syndrome).

MulticolourMophead · 08/08/2020 23:05

garding, aka gardening.....

omg35 · 08/08/2020 23:07

Yep. I hate it. I don't wear a coat in the middle of winter as I get too hot so days like today are just unbearable. I'm glad for the people who like it though, just wish it didn't make me feel so crap!

Itisbetter · 08/08/2020 23:09

Sounds like dehydration

Lindy2 · 08/08/2020 23:09

I feel very lethargic and headachy. It's so hot and humid right now (London).

I've never particularly liked hot weather but since having had children I seem to be much more sensitive to heat. I actually feel quite sick if I'm out in the sun for long.

I really hope we have a proper thunderstorm and downpour soon.

BingoDingo · 08/08/2020 23:11

I'm with you OP, I'm that pale it's almost transparent Confused An hour in the Sun and I boil / bubble... I love how the Sunshine looks and how pretty it makes everything, but give Me cosy Jumpers and boots anyday!

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 08/08/2020 23:11

I have found my people!
I can sing while you rain dance?
Laid on my bed most of the day, sweat pouring off me
Still too hot to sleep

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 08/08/2020 23:12

I’m the same. I think I wore my coat once during the last winter and was roasting so never wore it again.

This heat is unbearable.

mosquitofeast · 08/08/2020 23:12

I hate it

Von1986 · 08/08/2020 23:13

I'm well hydrated, I've kept the fridge stocked with bottled water and replace whenever I finish one.

I'm just absolutely shite when it comes to heat Sad

I have my front door open at the moment trying to cool down the flat somewhat.

Here's to hoping we get a break soon. Tuesday feels a long way away!

Von - are you me? I just can’t do heat these days. It never used to bother me (apart from burning but I would cover and use sunscreen) but these days I feel like I’ve been in a blast furnace. My hands swell up like pork sausages (it feels as if they are going to burst) and my watch is right on my wrist.

I have even got vomity sick on a couple of occasions that DH swears in heatstroke. And he is always talking about ‘moving somewhere hot’. Not a hope - it would kill me off!

DayKay · 08/08/2020 23:14

I don’t do too well in the heat either and it’s been a lot hotter than we’re used to here.
I had a headache yesterday, couldn’t sleep all night and subsequently, feel lethargic today.
Doing anything is a struggle, especially cooking.
I run hot too and haven’t worn a jumper or cardigan in years. I wear t shirts or light tops even in winter. I just wear a coat over it if I’m walking anywhere, a jacket if I’m driving.
My weather app is predicting thunderstorms next week. Hopefully, it’s correct.

Branleuse · 08/08/2020 23:14

I cant do extremes of temperature anymore. I used to live for the summer, but its so humid. Been 35 degrees where i am the last few days in the SE and today ive had heat sickness. Im really struggling to cool down. I think i need to head to the sea tommorow to escape it

Wagsandclaws · 08/08/2020 23:14

I'm in the SW and it's not due to go below 27 till Thursday 😭

HatakeKakashi · 08/08/2020 23:17

I could have written this myself. I've been very on edge today with my anxiety and I'm sure the heat is to blame
NuzzleandScratch · 08/08/2020 23:17

Totally with you OP, I feel the same. Do you have a car? I know it's not very green, but a trip out with the air con on provides a temporary relief. You mentioned you're in a flat, so don't know if you have any outside space, but I took a dip in the dds paddling pool earlier (in the shade), and it was wonderful, cooled us all down for a good while afterwards. Ice lollies are good too. Here's to some rain ASAP!
